Cop Uses Headshot To Take Out Gunman Holding Baby Hostage

    Riots incoming?

Phoenix police released bodycam video on Monday of an officer shooting an armed man holding a baby that he had just torn away from his mother (video below).

The incident began at about 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 9 when police received a 911 call from a hotel manager that reported a couple fighting in the parking lot near 7th Avenue and Van Buren Street, KTVK reported.

Surveillance video from the hotel parking lot showed 37-year-old Paul Bolden waving a gun around and throwing a woman to the ground before he grabbed a baby and ran off.

The mother of the baby called 911 and told police what had happened, KTVK reported.

“My husband just took my baby,” she told the dispatcher. “He has a gun. He’s loaded. He took the baby. He is trying to kill him. He’s fired. He’s shooting…he’s going to kill people.”

Video showed Bolden took off from the hotel parking lot running and fled down the street with the baby.

Police said the armed man ran into the street and stopped a random car, KTVK reported.

“I’m at the McDonald’s drive thru and there’s this black man that stopped a white car and he has a gun and has a baby in his arms,” a caller told 911. “He stopped the white car in the street and he has a baby in his arms and he has a gun.”

Four officers arrived on the scene within a minute and saw Bolden fire his gun with his baby in his arms, according to KNXV.

Bodycam video showed the officers repeatedly told Bolden to put the gun and the baby down.

“He has a kid hostage right now. He has a gun. One gunshot already,” an officer said in the video.

One of the officers on the scene squeezed off a single rifle round and shot Bolden in the head as he held the baby, causing him to drop to the ground, the video showed.

Police on the scene rushed to aid the baby without regard for their safety and without waiting for an all-clear, KTVK reported.

The video showed an officer grabbed the baby out of Bolden’s arms and pulled him to safety.

“Hi buddy, hey buddy, are you okay?” the officer asked the toddler as he carried him away from the scene.

Police reunited the mother – later identified as Priscilla Chavez – with her son just a few minutes later, KNXV reported.

Bolden was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Officials said nobody else was injured but that several buildings had sustained damage Bolden’s gunfire, KTVK reported.

Chavez told police that Bolden had been awake for four days using drugs at the time of the incident, KNXV reported.

She said that Bolden was the love of her life and had been a doting father to one-year-old Casino, the baby he was holding when he was shot.

Chavez told KNXV that she didn’t think officers should have shot Bolden in the head.

A savage barbaric tribal society where thugs parade the streets and illegally assault and murder innocent civilians, yeah that is the alternative to having police. Oh wait, that is the police

They wouldn't have, if no one had called them in.

Doting fathers don't go on four day drug benders, freak out with dey Glock and act out to kill mama, baby mama and any person unfortunate enough to be in close range.

10/10 for perfect marksmanship...much as I hate to give cops credit for anything, but they did their job and took out the trash.

If the point of this thread is to paint the cops as prone to killing the wrong people, I don't think this story is the best one to use for that.

Just looked up comments from local Phoenix station, all were supporting law enforcement action

I was trying to figure out the point reading this thread to, was it:

    1. Cops prone to killing the wrong people.
    2. Another lesson learned for calling the cops.
    3. PR for cops taking down a dangerous man and propaganda as an example why we cannot abolish the police nonsense. (as if private security and armed defence are not options)
    4. In advance PR that cops are treated unfairly since look at what they have to deal with. Awe so sad the poor cops being badly maligned again.
    5. Making a point that this story will be used as a reason for the news media to provoke riots since it is grey enough that allows both sides to stretch the facts so the elites can play to division of both sides

Taking a guess it is #5? Since @phill4paul says "riots incoming".

Besides being horrific, what will also be sickening is all the virtue signalling on each of those options that may be used by the news media, pundits and vloggers for page views as the elites play to both sides like it is a puppet show and we are the puppets.

Really? Has it got to be one or the other?

I think it's pretty clear from the OP that we have yet another situation in which the police kill a man with dark skin. This one, in contrast, is clearly justified. But will it matter to the BLM movement or the media?

I was having another Perspective again.

Chavez told police that Bolden had been awake for four days using drugs at the time of the incident,
    Was he?

and maybe there was a reason to get the kid away from Her.

but if she made the 911 call first,,,
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

I may not have seen all of the footage but I think there definitely is a tendency -in general these days- to shoot first and talk later. IDK it just seems that way sometimes. It's something you see more frequently in poorer, less developed countries. If the perpetrator dies, there's no case, it's easier and saves money. In the end you'll create a country you do not want your children to grow up in, please consider that.

Well, he had the kid. After slamming her to the pavement. He chose to then pull a gun, fire off some shots, and it would seem, pull a car jacking.

    He chose poorly.

Prancing around with a child firing shots at the stars in the country might draw a different conclusion than prancing into the streets of a city, while high or not, cavorting about with a child in your arms while discharging a weapon. Especially after your girlfriend called the cops on you worried you were a threat.

Most people live their lives off the police radar and do not have to deal with them. Their only truth is what the TV tells them which consists years of being fed a myriad of law enforcement propaganda programs and a news media that acts as public relations for the police.

The police problem that people think exists only in poorer, less developed countries or only seen in authoritarian regimes has been here and it is actually worse in some cases in the US. The US is a corrupt authoritarian police state with horrors and oppression no different from what we hear about in third world or Communist regimes. It is for the most part simply not reported since it does not fit the narrative of how great and free America is. They do not let illusion be broken since the entire house of cards that is the US would fall a part.

The collective brainwashing is so deep in the psyche of the American people that whistle blowers are ignored or worse allowed to be threatened, violently attacked or killed. The American news media simply will not allow the truth to come out unless in cases where it helps political mafia's gain power. For example BLM. The police in the US are largely above the law, unaccountable for their actions and free from prosecution.

"Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" is just slogan for rubes. The fact is the American police all too often decide whether a person is innocent or guilty road or home side. Cases allowed to make it to a court are simply for the purpose to enrich their local government cabal - tax collection. This must end.

Not really. He was physically able to over-power her and grab the toddler. He CHOSE to pull a gun, fire off some shots and attempt a car-jacking and use his son as a shield. After the fact.

He was only in that situation to begin with because of white men and their socioeconomic privilege.

The cops shot him, but it was all of you in this thread that did this to him.

If he was white something like that would never be revealed. Nothing can stand in the way that all police are heroes. Any criticism we will be reminded that they are something like 9/11 heroes even if they were never at the towers. They may have a thought about their brothers during 9/11 so that hardship thinking about it made them heroes. They have it so hard it is expected that we genuflect upon sight and thank them for their service.

On the other hand, black male shot they can use it for more BLM protests and an excuse to enact federal reparations legislation. Then Biden comse to the rescue with an EO on reparations, using this incident and others as an excuse while some how blaming the right.

That was my first thought as well.

God knows how this will play out in the Marxist media organs, more than likely it will be ignored, like the fact that the vast majority of mass shootings are done by colored people.

But it could go any way I suppose...but there are always after lessons to be learned:

Lesson #1 - From the perspective of Bolden's baby mama - "Do not call cops".

I don't know what led up to this, aside from a four day drug bender, but I would be willing to bet a year's salary that Mrs. Bolden was not being calm, quiet, non-threatening and non-combative, trying to do her best to talk Bolden down in the final minutes before he drew his gat and starting popping caps all over.

Lesson #2 - Do not bring a pistol to a rifle fight.

Lesson #3 - Do not be so rigidly attached to an opinion that you cannot see the exception that proves the rule. You won't find a more harsh cop critic than me, and I'd give the guy that took that shot a medal.

Lesson #4 - None of it will probably matter, truth is treason in the empire of lies. Expect BLM protests inbound.

So you called the cops on the guy who kidnapped a baby at gunpoint and are upset the cops killed him? What did you expect them to do?

    Expect?

So what you're saying is, you can and do think ahead beyond the end of your nose, and you expect others to do the same?

    Your privilege is showing.

Police shooter was on the force for 4-years. I'm gonna bet he was a vet of Afghan or Iraq. No hesitation. Calm, cool, collected. One shot, one kill. With an hostage at body level. Not a Spec. Force operator though. The sling was deployed. Most Specs. know to bind the sling with "Ranger Bands" so it doesn't get caught up on anything. Guessing just a 16-20 yrd shot.

    Just observations.
