Two others Donald pardoned were also backed by the Aleph Institute, Mark A. Shapiro and Irving Stitsky, who had each been sentenced to 85 years in prison for a $23 million real estate fraud.

Salomon Melgen became the US's highest-paid Medicare doctor, between 2008 and 2013, by giving elderly patients unnecessary eye injections and laser blasts.
Prosecutors accused Melgen of stealling $136 million. U.S. District Judge Kenneth A. Marra, who sentenced him, conluded that Melgen had stolen at least $73 million.


In a separate case, Melgen was accused of bribing Senator Bob Menendez, to stop Medicare officials that were investigating his malpractices, and to obtain visas for his foreign mistresses.
Melgen and Menendez simply argued that these were gifts (the jury didn't convict Melgen for this). What are friends for if they can't help each other out?


It's just a coincidence that one of them was stealing $100 million through healthcare fraud, while the other was a congressman.

Ken Kurson worked as an executive at Giuliani Partners from 2002 to 2006.
Kurson wrote speeches and editorials for Rudy Giuliani and traveled with him to a dozen countries and all through the US. Kurson was chief operating officer for Rudy Giuliani's falied 2008 campaign for presidential.


In January 2013, Kurson was chosen as editor of Jared Kushner's New York Observer, where he made sure that articles in support of Kushner and Trump were published.

Chris Young got the remaining of his 14 years sentence commuted by President Trump, with the support of the Aleph Institute. Maybe surprising that for once I agree with lying Donald.

In the civil lawsuits filed against him, Weinstein was accused of taking more than $470 million through complex real estate deals in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Great Britain and Israel that never materialised, and the money disappeared.
Judge Pisano, who sentenced him, ordered Weinstein to pay $215.4 million in restitution to his victims and forfeit another $215.4 million to the government. The judge found that the defendant could pay $1,000 a month, which would take him more than 35,000 years to repay the $430 million.

Dershowitz claimed that he was paid only “a very small amount of money” to get Braun out of jail.
The White House falsely claimed that Braun had served 5 of his 10-year sentence, while he had been incarcerated for only 1 year, and also misspelled his name.

In 2009, agents from the DEA raided a house on Staten Island that Braun’s drug ring used to stash large stockpiles of drugs. Immediately he rented a car to escape to Canada. After several months, he fled to Israel, where he continued to run his drug operation. In the fall of 2009, Braun foolishly returned to the US, where he was arrested.
Braun was indicted in 2010 and in 2011 pleaded guilty to importing drugs and money laundering. As part of his plea, Braun was released on bail to continue his life of crime as a loan shark for small businesses.

Braun blackmailed his victims into paying through threats and actual violence. For example, in the summer of 2018 Braun threw a man off a two-story balcony in Staten Island.
In 2019, Braun was finally sentenced to 10 years for being one of the major distributors of marijuana in New York City. Braun was finally locked up in January 2020.

Israeli billionaire Dan Gertler was sanctioned in December 2017 by the US Treasury for bribing Congo officials to get his hand on mining rights (including diamonds). This prohibited Gertler from doing business with U.S. citizens, companies or banks. The Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the world’s richest countries in natural resources, while the population is dirt poor.
Dan Gertler is also a business partner of Beny Steinmetz (who was recently convicted in Switzerland), whose nephew is in business with Jared Kushner (husband of Ivanka Trump).

Gertler hired Alan Dershowitz (him again!) and former FBI director Louis Freeh to petition the U.S. government to remove him from the sanctions list.
On 15 January, in its final week as U.S. President, Donald Trump’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (of the Treasury Department) eased sanctions against Dan Gertler. While the license doesn't remove Gertler, or his more than 30 companies, from the sanctions list... it authorises, until 31 January 2022, “all transactions and activities” otherwise prohibited by sanctions against them.

In other words, until 31 January 2022 he can conduct business in the US as if he isn't sanctioned.
The most important aspect is probably that also Gertler’s assets are unblocked that have been held by banks in the US, including Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Bank of New York Mellon and Wells Fargo.
If he quickly moves his funds it wouldn't matter much if the Biden administrations cancels the license.
