Exclamation GOP dumping MAGA? GOP leader McCarthy Says Trump ‘Bears Responsibility’ for Capitol Riot

GOP here being the GOP big wigs/establishment. Mitch and Pence had already left the building.
For how long the foot soldiers will continue to stand with MAGA once he leaves WH and media stopped covering him? I'm guessing alternate leadership will emerge to fill the void since coming environment will not have the kind of exygen MAGA needs to go on. Hopefully it will be libertarian minded leadership and without hollywood showbiz grooming.

McCarthy Says Trump ‘Bears Responsibility’ for Capitol Riot, Advocates Censure Instead of Impeachment

House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) on Wednesday blamed President Trump for the riots on Capitol Hill, but advocated a formal censure instead of impeachment.
House Democrats are currently attempting to impeach the president for “incitement of insurrection,” after Trump urged a mob of his supporters to amass at the Capitol during the congressional certification of the election results. The mob subsequently breached the building, forcing lawmakers to evacuate. Dozens of police officers were injured in the riots, including one who later died of his injuries.

    Rep. Kevin McCarthy:
"A vote to impeach will further fan the flames of the partisan division… That doesn’t mean the president is free from fault. The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters." pic.twitter.com/zCCiPNDtRT

Youthful young Kevin McCarthy sought to do damage control, by mitigating the punishment Congress has yet to dish out.
Problem is, there is a means of CENSURE via the 14th Amendment that can hobble any future POTUS run Trump can do.
I think Mitch McConnell wants the impeachment hearings to drag on...until they are 99.9% boring, so that Trump owes
him bigly when they all vote. It cuts into the time the Senate has for pieces of legislation. McConnell wants to dangle 2o24
in front of the Big Trumpster and indicate how much Mr. Trump owes him for the stuff done over the past 4 to 5 years.

It's time to destroy the GOP.
I don't think it's possible to reform the republican party anymore.

That is not going to happen. Trump is the star of the show! The specter of Trump is great for ratings and fundraising.

Now each politician will figure out how best to position himself within the ranks and with their donors and (to a far lesser extent) their constituents, but Trump will remain the centerpiece of their focus.
