    TX Chairman West’s Monday Message

    "Cool Heads Always Prevail"

    In my 22 years of active duty service in the US Army, I learned many lessons in leadership. I would be happy to share them with you, as they are enshrined on the 3×5 cards I carry. Having served in combat, my first combat tour was 30 years ago in Operation Desert Shield/Storm. It became very apparent that when bullets begin to fly, it is the resilient, resolved, and focused commander that inspires victory. I have always stated, “no one follows a Frantic Fannie into combat.”

    At this tumultuous time in our American history, I must reiterate this leadership maxim: “Cool Heads Always Prevail.”

    This past week, after the disturbing events of Wednesday, my cell phone blew up, and it continued through the weekend. The prevailing question was, “Colonel, what do we do now?”

    As I drove home after our Republican Party of Texas Legislative Priorities Rally on Saturday in Austin, I had to make that “pause for the cause” in Hillsboro. I decided to fill up the gas tank at the 7-Eleven there off I-35, and a young black man from Arlington, who was at the rally, came up to me. He asked, “Sir, can we stop the communist takeover of America?” I looked at him resolutely and told him that we sure can, and that was why we were at the Capitol building rallying.

    Having been in combat, I know the prudence of being calculating — yet swift to act — when engaging your adversary. I would recommend y’all read about the battles of Alexander the Great. I have had folks ask me when will President Trump enact the Insurrection Act and deploy the military? To that I respond: I pray he does not. Now, to the anxious, angry, frustrated, and upset, that is not the answer they desire.

    The Army taught me the five forms of maneuver against the enemy: infiltration, penetration, turning movement, envelopment, and frontal assault. Thirty years ago, our forces in Kuwait and Iraq conducted what is probably the largest envelopment operation in military history since Hannibal’s successful double envelopment of the Roman legions at the Battle of Cannae. The problem with Republicans is that we often choose the worst form of maneuver, the frontal assault. Just study Pickett’s charge on the third day of the Battle of Gettysburg.

    Therefore, here is my response to the question of what we should do now:

    The real issue from the 2020 election cycle has less to do with mythical beasts — like the Kracken — and, more with the understanding as to how the left enveloped Republican State legislatures. The left targeted and encircled key Republican State legislatures in places like Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona, among others, and changed election law by way of governors, secretaries of state, and judicial activism. They relied on the belief that these State legislatures would be slow, or even reticent, to respond. They implemented such unconstitutional actions such as universal mail-in ballots and changing ballot signature verification standards.

    Governors enacted emergency declarations to deal with a “pandemic” that has a 99.96 percent recovery rate. These executives made us believe that this “pandemic” suspended the rule of law, election law. As well, the left has been incredibly effective in preventing the review of voter rolls in states all over the country.

    State legislatures need to reaffirm their enumerated legislative powers and erase dictates that say only a governor can call them back into session.

    They need to refine the meaning of an emergency.

    The number one Legislative Priority for the Republican Party of Texas is Election Integrity. We need to tighten up our election laws, enforce voter registration roll reviews, disallow the registration and voting of illegal immigrants, ban the use of universal mail-in balloting — which is not the same as absentee ballots — and reduce the time for “early voting.” Heck, we even had the County Clerk in Harris County expand “curbside” voting into heavily Democrat precincts. But, not only here in Texas, this has to be a priority for Republican-held State legislatures across the nation. There was a reason why Eric Holder was targeting state legislatures.

    Lastly, there have to be real penalties for enacting voter fraud and conducting illegal voting activities. It becomes rather Pavlovian if there are not.

    Next, on the first Tuesday in May of 2021, we will have municipal level elections in Texas. Let’s be honest, these elections are not “non-partisan.” We must focus on winning elections for City Council, School Board, County Commissioner, County Clerk, heck, Water Management District elections. If we want better election activities in our respective counties, that means controlling more county commissions in the state of Texas. (emphasis added. voting is extremely important. - TheTexan)

    I know, everyone says that it is too hard. Do you want to know what is hard? Try changing the engine out of a US Army M1 Abrams tank in the middle of winter in South Korea. I watched that back in 1995. Getting off your keister and finding good quality candidates that can run in local elections, where often the turnout is less than 10 percent ain’t hard . . . but it is vital. I want you to think about who is making the decisions about elections at the local level, yet another way leftists have penetrated and infiltrated our cities, schools, and county-level administrations.

    The next vital play comes with the redistricting of political office districts that only comes every 10 years. Since we maintained a strong majority in both the Texas House and Senate, we control this process. This will shape the political landscape of Texas, and other states, for the next 10 years. This was the main reason why Eric Holder, Michael Bloomberg, and Barack Obama dumped some $25 million into Texas.

    Texas Republicans control this process and must realize this strategic opportunity, and not concern themselves with “fairness” to the progressive socialist left. I think we are getting a lesson right now in the ruthlessness of the left. We can ill afford to be Neville Chamberlains and believe that appeasement, compromise, and acquiescence to the leftists are viable courses of action.

    That brings me to this final point, as I know there are still those doggone hot heads out there who want a “revolution.” Just remember, when you read the Declaration of Independence, that our Founding Fathers sought every possible manner of petition to King George. But our history, both as a state and a nation, evidences the one thing that we will not tolerate: disarmament.

    In America, we have always recognized that an armed individual is a citizen, and an unarmed one is a subject. This is why another of the Republican Party of Texas Legislative Priorities is Constitutional Carry.

    Remember these dates in our history: April 19, 1775, and October 2, 1835. These are two dates where the Sons of Liberty in Massachusetts and Texians in Gonzales responded to the threat and imminent objective of a tyrannical government to disarm them. In both cases, the actions on Lexington Green and the field of Gonzales spurred forth movements toward independence.

    If the progressive socialist left — aka the Democrat Party — seeks to pursue a “mandatory gun buyback” initiative, then they will have followed suit with the previous tyrants who dared the same. They will have, indeed, doused themselves with gasoline and struck a match.

    The way forward is not to conduct a frontal assault, but envelop the left, outmaneuver them, play chess, not checkers, and anticipate their next move and block it. If the Bidenistas want open borders, we say no! If the Bidenistas want the Green New Deal and decimation of our oil and gas industry, we say no! If the leftists believe that they can mandate equality, we say no! National lockdowns, the decimation of our small businesses, and mandated mask-wearing, no more, unless government officials want to stop being paid. The best stimulus for our economy is small business.

    The government does not exist to protect our health, that is our responsibility. Government exists to protect our rights . . . and that is not defined as the ideological agenda of the progressive socialist left.

    We must be resolute, forthright, and stand like an immovable rock. We must school the left on the concept of federalism. After all, they believed that they could declare themselves “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants. The left must be taught a firm lesson in the 10th Amendment.

    However, what this will require is that Republicans can no longer be “Quislings.” One thing the left, like any bully, relies upon is the lack of intestinal fortitude from us, their political opposition. Their use of fear, intimidation, coercion, threats, and violence (to which they never admit) are the means to their end. The left is playing a very dangerous game of duplicitous hypocrisy. It is evident and unacceptable. We can borrow a page from their Saul Alinsky rule book and let them see what principled American resistance looks like.

    No, I am not scared. God did not give me, or you, a spirit of fear. What we do need are leaders who are calm, cool, and collected under fire, and who will not cower to the left. Yes, I am gonna be talking to someone about communication platforms. But, what we currently see from the left is abject totalitarianism, targeting members of the Trump administration to undermine their future livelihood. They are censoring conservatives, which is true fascism. But, with all of this, we must keep a cool head as our planning and execution must be flawless, as we frustrate the left into making tactical, and strategic, errors . . . causing their implosion.

    A final word to bolster your spirit:

    “THESE are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

    Summer soldiers and sunshine patriots stay out of our way. We will let you know when it is safe to come outside. It is time to carpe diem!

    Skin color has nothing to do with racism, anymore. Only a racist would suggest such a thing. I mean, they had a gallows at the Capitol while they were chanting, "Hang Mike Pence". Just because Pence is white, doesn't excuse the obvious racism.

    Perhaps there are those of you who recognize the title of this week’s missive from the Tom Clancy novel of like name. Of course, there was the film adaptation, with Harrison Ford playing the protagonist, Jack Ryan. The book, and movie, centered on the “clear and present danger” that drug cartels posed to the national security of these United States of America. I would kindly offer that when one considers the aforementioned quotes, we are looking at an even more grave clear and present danger to this Constitutional Republic.

    It bears repeating, once again, the maxim of former Obama Chief-of-Staff and Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, “never let a good crisis go to waste.”

    The progressive socialist left, known as the Democrat Party, has taken free license to use the condemned events of Wednesday, January 6, 2021, to openly discuss such abjectly disgusting concepts as deprogramming and re-educating American citizens. Needless to say, we have all heard of these ideals previously in history, from people such as Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, the Kim family of North Korea, Pol Pot, Castro, Che Guevara, Hugo Chavez, and Nicolas Maduro. History has taught us — well those who are still studying history — words such as stalag, gulag, work camp, concentration camp, indoctrination camp, and re-education camp, with the latter currently being used against the Uighur Muslims in China.

    We have, in the past week, heard use of the word ‘censorship’ more often, and the CEO of Twitter has informed us, the American people, that we can expect more of it. Censorship is just a nice PC way of saying fascism. As a matter of fact, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the House Oversight Committee, also lamented this past week about the need for the government to “rein in the media.” Something tells me she is not talking about CNN or MSNBC, certainly not taxpayer funded, left-leaning PBS.

    The left has fully adopted, and is implementing, the 13 Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals, namely these:

    4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.

    8. “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.

    10. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.” It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.

    11. “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.

    It is imperative that we realize the progressive socialist left — these Marxists — do not subscribe to the premise of hypocrisy. They do not embrace any semblance of rules (save Alinsky’s radical ones), standards, or constraints. What they will do is encircle their enemy with their imposed rules, standards, and ideals of decency, all for their gain.

    Take for instance, Democrat Congresswoman Cori Bush of Missouri, whose floor speech last week was laughable. Here is someone speaking to condemn the violence of January 6th when she actually led a violent march against two people. Yes, Cori Bush is a BLM activist who led the mob that called for the rape, murder, and burning of the home of Patty and Mark McCloskey of St. Louis. I know this for a fact since my wife Angela and I hosted the McCloskey’s for an event here in North Texas, and they stayed at our home for two evenings.

    If we are to believe that there is some standard, or language, that the House Democrats are embracing as “incitement to violence,” heck, then why is Cori Bush a member of the US Congress? I demand that she be charged for her actions, which are on tape, and removed from Congress. After all, the Texas Democrats are accusing Texas Republican members of Congress of “inciting an insurrection” because they did not vote for the absurd impeachment charade…and they are fundraising off of that.

    As well, Texas Democrats are demanding Senator Ted Cruz be disbarred because he objected to the elector slate from states where there were clearly unconstitutional issues of changing election law, and not by state legislators.

    Funny, I have not heard a single Texas Democrat elected official address the violent history of Rep. Cori Bush, Rep. Maxine Waters, Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Sen. Kamala Harris, or Rep. Jerrold Nadler, who claimed Antifa was a myth. I have not heard a single Texas Democrat elected official condemn the violence over countless months that we have seen at the hands of Antifa and Black Lives Matter.

    Let us not forget that it was four years ago at President Trump’s inauguration when violent leftist mobs took to the streets in Washington DC burning cars and destroying property, etc. Heck, I think they were rewarded with BLM Square in DC. The day after the inauguration, it was Madonna who stated, in Washington DC, that she dreamed of “blowing up the White House.” Would any Texas Democrat official like to condemn this?

    This begs me to ask a very simple question. Knowing how delusional, vindictive, maniacal, and violent the left has been, in the face of Democrat silence: why would our own Texas Republican State House majority vote last week to allow Texas Democrats to hold Committee Chair positions? Please, spare me the offensive and condescending excuse of “Colonel West, you don’t understand our traditions and how things work.” If y’all recall, my Monday Message from November 9, 2020 addressed this issue.

    See, Texas Democrat elected officials represent a clear and present danger to the Legislative Priorities of the Republican Party of Texas getting passed. Once again, elected Republicans come up with these rules, traditions, that mean nothing to the Texas Democrats. But, they use increasing and unceasing pressure to force weak Republicans to acquiesce to their demands. Does anyone believe that a Texas State House majority under Democrats, socialist leftists, would offer Committee Chair positions to Republicans? Hmm, how many Republicans are Committee Chairs in the California State Assembly?

    The progressive socialist leftists know that they have two years to run amok before the midterm elections. They have not forgotten what happened to Barack Obama in 2010. They are going to seize this moment to inflict as much harm upon our nation and potentially make it impossible to ever be unseated from federal government power. Here is what must happen:

    1. The Republican states, and states with Republican state legislative majorities, need to toughen up. They all need to put together 10th Amendment committees. We must have better coordination between red State AGs and State Legislatures to serve as a bulwark against the leftist ideological agenda. We need to start thinking about how to respond to a “packed” Supreme Court…which in my estimation would be illegitimate. Republican states must become “Liberty Sanctuaries.”

    2. Republican State Legislatures need to examine the possibilities of divesting their state portfolios of Big Tech stocks who are advocating censorship of American citizens. This is already happening in Florida. Hmmm, why ain’t Texas leading on this? As well, it should be made clear that any tech companies in Texas embracing the idea of censorship of American citizens are not welcomed in the Lone Star State.

    3. Republican State Legislatures must enact strong election integrity laws, meaning voter registration roll reviews, voter ID laws, and firmly disallowing universal mail-in ballots. Hey, Texas Democrats, that is not racist, and I am Black…Oops, forgot, Joe Biden said that I ain’t really Black. Remember, states and counties run elections, not the federal government. But, beware, Nancy Pelosi already has a House Bill ready that would nationalize elections.

    Bottom line, Republicans need to “cowboy da hell up” and use Alinsky Rule #8 against the left.

    In closing, I ask y’all to refrain from sending me emails and text messages about how scared you are, or that the country is lost. That is exactly what the left wants you to feel. The Spirit of Texas is not one of fear, it is one of resolute and principled defiance. Not acquiescence or appeasement to Democrats and giving them Committee Chair positions.

    If there are moments when you are starting to feel a little despondent, I leave you with the mock-Latin motto of World War II US Army General “Vinegar Joe” Stillwell, “Illegitimi Non Carborundum!”

    Unity…or Conformity?
    Romans 12:2 (NIV) says:

    “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will . . .Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

    This past week, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of these United States of America. In essence, what happened this past Wednesday was that the swamp reinstated one of its very own creatures. Joe Biden has been in Washington, DC, for some 47 years and his major legislative accomplishment was the crime bill which put young black men — whom he referred to as “predators” — in jail. So, I found his speech on unity quite perplexing.

    Bill Clinton, obviously, found it quite boring.

    There was so much praise and over-the-top emotional commentary given to this inauguration. Heck, even Fox News commentator Chris Wallace expressed that this was one of the best inauguration speeches he had ever heard.

    To all of that I have two words: bovine excrement.

    What I heard in Joe Biden’s speech, craftily drafted by some far-left progressive socialist, was the redefining of the word “unity.” Unity, for the progressive socialist leftists who now control the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives, is synonymous with conformity. What China Joe Biden asserted in his speech was that unity will be embraced as long as you are subservient to the ideological agenda of the left in America. Otherwise, you will be denigrated, demeaned, disparaged, and declared a white supremacist, domestic terrorist, and there will be a war against you.

    Now, consider this: there were some 23,000 National Guard troops deployed to Washington, DC, for this inauguration under the guise of providing security. The left will be milking the deplorable events of January 6, 2021, for as long as possible. And, know this, their true feelings towards our military was evident in their vetting our troops and then dismissing them into a parking garage once their little optic and charade was done.

    Has anyone from the Biden administration mentioned the acts of domestic terrorism that happened last week in Portland and Seattle with Antifa, BLM rioters, and da leftist mob? Nope. The left finds unity with that mob violence. After all, it is rooted in their Marxist ideology.

    Ponder these words from former CIA Director John Brennan from last week:

    “Former CIA director John Brennan said Wednesday that the Biden administration is “moving in laser-like fashion to try to uncover as much as they can about what looks very similar to insurgency movements that we’ve seen overseas.” Brennan went on to describe what he believed was “an unholy alliance” involving “religious extremists, authoritarians, fascists, bigots, racists, nativists, even libertarians.”

    “Unfortunately, I think there has been this momentum that has been generated as the result of unfortunately the demagogic rhetoric of people that just departed government, but also those who continue in the halls of Congress,” he continued.”

    If you are not in agreement with the left in America, you are an insurgent. You are now classified as a domestic terrorist, but, not Antifa mind you. We are all now white supremacists, racists, and everything else Brennan used to “dehumanize” us.

    Unity?

    Joe Biden’s speech about unity had nothing to do with unity, it was all about conformity. It is very clear who he and the left feel need conformity. It would appear, based upon John Brennan, that I could be deemed as a religious extremist for even starting this missive with a biblical quote. After all, we did see the left vehemently come after Franklin Graham this week, along with Christian businessman, Mike Lindell. Yes, the left is banning My Pillow from Kohl’s, Wayfair, Bed Bath and Beyond, and HEB grocery stores.

    So much for unity.

    I did not hear Beijing Biden say anything about censorship in his speech. Biden said nothing about Big Tech and their continued deplatforming of conservatives. He did not address the use of such abhorrent language such as “deprogramming” and “reeducation” by those on the left in America. Why didn’t he? It’s simple, really. It’s because unity means conformity, and if these aforementioned declared enemies, — political opposition — do not conform, then they will need to be deprogrammed in order for us to have unity.

    We did not hear anything from Mr. Biden regarding CNN’s demand that Fox News be booted from cable networks, or how the Associated Press wants Newsmax TV and One America News taken off the air.

    Yes, there will be unity only when there are no voices, thoughts, insights, perspectives, or ideals in opposition to the left. The left is now redefining our First Amendment rights to no longer mean we have freedom of religion, speech, or expression. Those integral parts of our individual Bill of Rights have now been qualified by a simple new adjective, “acceptable.” And, in the minds of the progressive socialist left, they define what is “acceptable.”

    From this moment on, the Republican Party has two choices: “fight or flee.” They will be defined by which one they choose.

    Republicans must choose if they are going to be Vichy Republicans, and that is a reference to the World War II French government that collaborated with the Nazis (National Socialists) after the occupation of France. Or, the other choice for the Republican Party is to be more like the French resistance. They did not conform, nor would they be subjugated to the totalitarianism and tyranny of the Nazi German occupation. They fought back. Oh darn, there I go again using factual historical examples to put our situation into perspective. I am certainly moving to the front of the list for reeducation and deprogramming . . . even though I am Black. Then again, according to Biden, I ain’t Black because I do not conform to the victimization rhetoric of the left. Y’all know, I fled their economic plantation.

    Your Republican Party of Texas — founded by 150 Black men in 1867 — has chosen to fight. We will not allow the progressive socialist left to classify us into some disparaging category, as listed by John Brennan. We will stand up for our constitutional conservative principles and values, as articulated in our Legislative Priorities, and platform. We will not be apologetic and cower. We will not seek to acquiesce, compromise, appease, or sing Kumbaya with those who want utter and complete control and domination. You only hear the word bipartisan when Republicans are in political positions of control. When Democrats — aka Marxist socialists — are in power, you hear “unity,” but they mean subjugation.

    Now, I already hear the delusional and deranged imbeciles of the Texas Democrat Party saying, “Chairman West is inciting Republicans in Texas to violence.” In the words of Joe Biden, “C’mon, man!” I will certainly not be bullied into submission by the Party of the Jackass. Until Democrat Representatives Maxine Waters, Ayanna Pressley, and Cori Bush are removed from office, do not even think about using your empty tactics of threats, intimidation, and coercion on me. The left made it their mantra for the past four years “Resist!” regarding former President Trump . . . Don’t y’all don’t think we have that same choice? Why of course you don’t, because unity means conformity.

    As a matter of fact, look at all these Executive Orders signed by Guiseppe Biden in his first days . . . Anyone hear of a judge blocking his orders? Again, why do we not hear anything about leftist Antifa and BLM violence from this past week?

    The choice for Republicans is simple, fight or flee, because the leftist rhetoric of unity is rooted in the totalitarian goal of conformity.

    I will not be a Vichy Republican. The question is, will you?

    States’ Rights: The Foundation of Our Republic

    When some gaze upon the title of this week’s missive, they may immediately construct a negative connotation for the words “states’ rights.” There are those who will weigh these words against the annals of American history associated with slavery, the Civil War, Jim Crow, and segregation. The funny thing is that the people who think of states’ rights in those references are of the same political party who gave us these dark corridors of our history: the Democrat Party. Perhaps that is why the progressive socialist left is so very willing to revise and erase our history.

    However, those of us who call ourselves constitutional conservatives — you know, those pesky right-wing extremists — states’ rights have a different, and vital, meaning.

    The Tenth Amendment was very clear in prescribing that the enumerated powers not specified, delegated, to the federal government were reserved to the sovereign States and the people. The respective states of the new United States of America, those free and independent States, knew that there had to be a declaration of individual rights, the Bill of Rights, in our Constitution before ratification.

    Remember, it took three years to attain ratification of our Constitution. Those first 10 Amendments to our Constitution were critical and formed the foundation of the relationship between the federal government, the states, and the citizens.

    Today, that relationship, which is often called the principle of federalism, is under assault. Today, we have the resurrection of an onerous and intrusive federal government. One that is not governing based upon the consent of the governed, but, instead, rule by way of edicts, mandates, decrees, and orders. A few weeks back, we discussed the dangers of executive overreach.

    So, how do we restore the right and proper constitutional relationship, or balance, between the entities aforementioned?

    There are those who would say that the federal government reigns supreme over the States, based upon the Supremacy Clause, Article VI, Clause 2. The Supremacy Clause states, “This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every State shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.”

    The keywords in this clause are the ones I have bolded and underlined, “which shall be made in pursuance thereof.” That means that yes, the laws of the land are supreme as long as they are made in pursuance of the Constitution. In other words, when we have those who are pursuing an ideological agenda that is not consistent with the established laws of the Constitution, it is not supreme. And no, you do not have to have paid a whole lot of money to be a lawyer to realize that.

    Let’s look at this example.

    Article I, Section 10, Clause 3 states, “No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

    The above excerpt from our Constitution clearly specifies a restriction on a sovereign State. It articulates an enumerated power for the federal government. But, the bolded and underlined statement provides the terms under which a State may take, and be granted, these powers.

    Let’s apply this to the case of Texas and our shared border with a foreign power and nation, Mexico. If President Joe Biden decides — by Executive Order, thus, not pursuant to our Constitution — to enact an open border policy, the State of Texas, and other border states, have the right to protect themselves from the “invasion” of illegal immigration.

    Yes, illegal immigration does present an imminent danger to the State of Texas and does not admit delay. Texas is the number one state in America for human and sex trafficking. Texas is dealing with the problem of the Sinoloa and other drug cartels operating within its state borders, and rising gang violence and drug smuggling. In this era of COVID-19 it is an imminent danger to the citizens of Texas to be exposed to those potentially infected with the virus. Lastly, Texas should be able to deport those here illegally, especially those guilty of committing crimes, violating our rule of law.
    Under the verbiage of Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3, Texas should be able to enact an OPCON (Operational Control) relationship of federal government assets within our border to secure the border and its citizens. This portion of our Constitution enables Texas to take action — based upon imminent danger — and not rely upon the federal government: the Biden administration.

    Along those same lines, there is also the concept of constitutional nullification, something the State legislature of North Dakota is looking to pass. Simply stated, States can assert their right, under the Tenth Amendment, to nullify any law or order emanating from the federal government that, again, is not pursuant to the Constitution of the United States and our rule of law.

    Thomas E. Woods Jr. wrote a book on this issue called “Nullification: How to Resist Tyranny in the 21st Century.” You can also review an article he wrote on August 27, 2015, for the Tenth Amendment Center titled, “Nullification is Not Unconstitutional.

    Now, I can hear the leftists who troll our site about to scream. Funny thing, when the left was going around and unconstitutionally establishing sanctuary states and cities for illegal immigrants, conservatives were told to shut up.

    One of our eight Legislative Priorities for the Republican Party of Texas is ending the murder of preborn children. The left would have us believe that abortion is the “law of the land,” but Roe v Wade was a Supreme Court decision, and last time I checked the Constitution, courts do not make law. The same would apply to Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) that supposedly made same-sex marriage the “law of the land,” a case that overturned the decision of the voting electorate in California (2008) when a same-sex ballot initiative failed. Courts do not make law. Can someone show me where the federal government can mandate marriage in our constitution?

    The progressive socialist left’s ideological agenda cannot, and must not, become the basis for establishing the “law of the land,” and States are empowered to reject and nullify those agenda-based incursions. The Constitution is a restraining document on the powers of the federal government. Foundational to our Republic are the powers reserved to the sovereign States and the people.

    Consider HRs 1, 127, and 130, which the Democrat-controlled US House of Representatives are considering. The Republican Party of Texas has Election Integrity and Constitutional Carry as Legislative Priorities for these reasons. States can simply reject and nullify these attempts to federalize our elections — a State-level responsibility — which would undermine our Second Amendment right.

    In America, if my numbers are correct, Republicans control 67/99 State legislatures. The foundation of our Republic resides in strong, principled, resolute State legislatures that understand their Constitutional duties, roles, rights, and powers. I do support HB 1369, here in Texas, which would allow the citizens to decide on TEXIT.

    But, ask yourselves: why would you run away when our Founding Fathers gave you the tools to nullify the tyranny and totalitarianism of the federal government? Why run away from those who are taking unconstitutional actions, when you have the right and power to say no? Why run away from those who are doing wrong, when you have the moral high ground?

    The preamble of the Constitution talks about forming a “more perfect union.” To do so, the first thing is to establish justice. Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3 of the Constitution grants the States the ability to “enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State,” in the case of imminent danger.

    I would offer that progressive socialist leftism, Marxism, the ideological agenda of the left, poses that imminent danger for our Constitutional Republic.

It went like this: "The left would have us believe that outlawing racial segregation in public schools is the 'law of the land', but Brown v. Board of Education was a Supreme Court decision, and the last time I checked the Constitution, courts do not make law. Can someone show me where the Constitution allows the federal government to tell local school boards how to run their schools?"

    So were States entitled to nullify the Brown decision if they thought it wasn't supported by the Constitution? Many tried, notably Arkansas and Alabama. Are Orval Faubus and George Wallace heroes in LTC West's eyes?

    Once you grant that a State can determine for itself whether its actions violate the Constitution you can kiss the Constitution's prohibitions against the States goodbye, because they would be rendered meaningless.

    Constitutionalists vs. Secessionists
    Good Monday morning, everyone! I pray y’all had a great weekend.

    I am really excited about this time of the year because it is March Madness. We all have our brackets. I pray that we will be able to get through the NCAA college basketball tournament without major disruptions.

    However, there is another kind of “madness” going on in America right now. It is a madness that threatens to undermine the very foundation and fabric of our constitutional Republic, our America.

    Former NY Times opinion writer Bari Weiss wrote an article this past week in City-Journal called “The Miseducation of America’s Elites.” It addressed one of the aspects of the madness that is happening in our America. We are allowing the insidious cancel culture to thrive due to our cowardice in challenging and confronting it.

    To think we have some elitist college prep school in New York sending a memo telling parents that the use of words such as “mom” and “dad” are prohibited is absurd. To have parents accept that is highly disconcerting.

    If there is one thing I credit the progressive socialist left for, it is their delusional tenacity. They know that they are totalitarian tyrannical bullies, but, hey, their ends justify their means. They are highly adept at dominating the narrative and manipulating language as a means to neutralize or destroy any and all political opposition.

    For instance, if you disagree with their ideological agenda, you are branded a white supremacist (yeah, even me), racist, extremists, and, now, insurrectionists. All last year we watched real domestic terrorist groups — like Antifa and BLM — enact violence against federal government facilities, law enforcement agencies, law enforcement officers, and cordon off sections of cities . . . and the Democrats said nothing.

    Now we have the FBI raiding homes of Americans and arresting them, with no bail, because of the events of January 6, 2021, wherein an unarmed woman was shot in the back by a Capitol Police officer, and killed. For the left, this former US Air Force veteran’s death is justified, her life meaningless because she was white. If she had been Black, perhaps her family would be getting a $27 million payoff.

    We need to shift the narrative against the progressive socialist left. We who believe in our fundamental principles and values are constitutionalists. We believe in a more perfect union of those who honor and follow the rule of law, our Constitution. We are not extremists. We are not threats to America or our democracy.

    By contrast, the progressive socialists on the left are the new secessionists. They are the ones breaking away from our rule of law and seeking to implement their leftist, anti-constitutional agenda. They are seceding from our Constitution in any and every manner.

    Joe Biden seeks to rule over us by Executive Order. Take, for instance, his Executive Orders implementing an open borders policy. Biden is seceding from America, and for me, abdicating his duties and responsibilities as president. He is making himself out to be a resident of the White House and a petty dictator.

    The Democrat-controlled Congress is seceding from our Constitution by passing anti-Constitutional legislation such as HR 1. The federal government has no enumerated right to “nationalize” our elections, but that is what the oxymoronic titled “For the People Act” does.

    HR 5 breaks from our Constitution and our freedom of religion, and the free exercise thereof. HR 5 will elevate the LGBTQ ideological agenda over our constitutional rights.

    This past week, the Democrats and eight Republicans voted for HR 8, which criminalizes a simple act such as a law-abiding citizen lending a weapon to a victim of domestic abuse. However, the Democrats rejected an amendment to report an illegal immigrant seeking to unlawfully purchase a weapon.

    Even the recently passed so-called “COVID relief bill” signed into law is being hailed as the largest ever progressive spending measure. In truth, this represents a real secession from our constitutional use of taxpayer dollars. The measure is nothing more than a payoff to the political allies and cronies of the progressive socialist left. And, horribly so, it is an endeavor in economic enslavement of the American people. We should not be surprised, since the history of the Democrat Party was support to physical slavery then, economic now.

    Sadly, we even have secessionists in the highest court of the land. Yes, our US Supreme Court has an enumerated duty in the Constitution to hear cases and interpret our laws. They are not to pick and choose which cases based upon cultural or societal impacts. The State of Texas and some 16 other states can only go to the court of original jurisdiction to honor their constitutional right to “petition the government for redress of grievances.”

    When other states are being secessionists and enacting unconstitutional actions during an election season — which has an adverse effect on states that are constitutionalists — the Supreme Court must adjudicate, not abdicate.

    The greatest issue in America right now is that we have constitutionalists being overruled by secessionists. The latter being in charge of our federal government at this moment. The danger is their disregard of our constitution, rule of law.

    So, what must be done?

    It comes back to the Tenth Amendment! States must fight to restore constitutional governance in America and, therefore, restore our Constitutional Republic. Our Constitution-based States must advance the concept of constitutional nullification and form that more perfect union as a buttress against the progressive socialist leftists, the secessionists.     If America is to survive the scourge of leftists, socialists, Marxists, statists, and communists, we must refer to them as they are. We must see them — and their actions — as the evil they represent, and express that.

    How to boil America

    Some of you may realize the meaning of the title of this week’s missive immediately, others may not. It goes back to a metaphor, one you have to explain, or else the delusional progressive socialists — and PETA maniacs — will go crazy.

    We simple folks ask: how does one go about boiling a frog? Remember lefties, this is a metaphor. The answer is that one catches a frog and places it in a pot of cold water, where the frog is comfortable. However, slowly you raise the temperature and the frog does not feel the change in temperature, it becomes comfortable with it. Eventually, the frog is boiled by its own lack of realization that the temperature of the water has increased.

    So it is when one considers the aforementioned quote of Ayn Rand. Those uncontested absurdities which go unchallenged are accepted in degrees. And, in America, that which we would have considered absurd, once upon a time, has slowly become the accepted norm. The critical ingredient that enables this ‘fundamental transformation’ is the constant, incessant pressure of one side, and the complete retreat, surrender, and acquiescence, of the other side.

    America is witnessing the most absurd — which is quickly becoming the official ideology of our Constitutional Republic — and it is all because a loud radical minority has been relentless. In contrast, a majority has been silent; reticent, and recalcitrant to stand on principle.

    Yes, we are talking about the progressive socialist left who have enacted a decades-long plan to arrive at this point. It has been a dedicated effort to undermine every single aspect of our society — media, academia, entertainment, law schools, and politics. Now the left is targeting our military and law enforcement. Just this past week, in California, the Democrats are proposing legislation that anyone not believing in same-sex marriage and abortion should not be allowed to be law enforcement officers. Our own military is seeking to purge anyone that is not of a leftist ideology, the aim is to purge anyone with conservative viewpoints,yet leftist views are acceptable.

    We are going down the path as articulated in Isaiah 5:20 (above). We have allowed the absurdity of calling good “evil” and evil “good,” to permeate our society.

    What is the result?

    A government that issues Executive Orders telling us to allow biological males to compete against biological females. We now accept a mental condition called “gender dysphoria” as a mainstream behavior. It means that we are giving puberty blockers and hormonal adjustment therapies to our children. They are confused because we have allowed absurdity to become our national ideology. Growing up, if anyone had told me that one day Sports Illustrated would have a gender dysphoric male as a swimsuit model . . . well, you get my point.

    That is why one of the Legislative Priorities for the Republican Party of Texas is ending the practice of child gender modification.

    We now live in an America where we accept the dismemberment of our babies in the womb. Once upon a time, the thought of severing the spinal cord of an unborn baby in the womb would have been considered heinous and absurd. Now, it is a national ideology, a right. The “woke folk” say nothing about Planned Parenthood being founded by a white supremacist and racist. However, you are vehemently assailed if you call this apparent evil, “evil.” Ending the murder of our unborn babies is another of our Legislative Priorities.

    Nancy Pelosi just came out with the absurd statement that she can seat and unseat anyone she wants in Congress. Who would have ever thought that elected officials would decide who or what is essential in Texas, in America? While they were ordering small business owners to shut their businesses and lose their livelihoods, they never stopped getting a check . . . paid for by the taxpayers they put out of work.

    We have a case going before the US Supreme Court that seeks to allow law enforcement to enter a home without a warrant, and confiscate the firearms of a legal, law-abiding gun owner. This is why constitutional carry is another of our Legislative Priorities.

    We have those who believe America is just a piece of land in between Mexico and Canada where anyone can enter and vote. Speaking of which, if you disagree with the left on having voter identification, reviewing voter registration, and stopping the fraud-ridden practice of universal mail-in ballots and ballot harvesting, you are a racist.

    Yes, the absurdity of unconstitutional actions in our voting system is becoming the national ideology, to be codified into law, HR 1. This is why election integrity is our number one Legislative Priority.

    All of these issues — which have been identified by our Republican base in Texas as priorities — will mean nothing if we are in constant retreat in our Republican-led legislative bodies. At some point, there have to be courageous elected officials who say no to the absurdities.

    It is far beyond time for constitutional conservatives to plant their heels and say, “We shall not surrender or retreat,” words that have special meaning in Texas. Those words were written by a 26-year-old named William Barret Travis. Once upon a time, surrendering, — even in the face of insurmountable odds, with the certainty of loss of life — was absurd.

    Texas is the Lone Star State. It is a star that we shine brilliantly as a beacon in America. But, if we allow our light to become dark, then America will suffer. Yes, indeed, the eyes of America are upon Texas and want to know whether we will refuse the constant pressure of the progressive socialist left.

    The left wants to boil America. We Texans are the ones who can end this quest, this insidious endeavor. Let’s dig in our heels for this fight, and not allow the leftists to turn up the heat anymore. Let’s find our courage to call evil for what it is, evil, and restore the light of America from this present darkness.

    Republican, Democrat . . . Meaningless Designations

    Here in America, we have a two-party political system. However, there is something changing in America, and in Texas: this is no longer about two political parties. The growing atmosphere in America today is about two philosophies of governance, divergent principles, and values.

    America was established upon a unique fundamental belief, that the individual is sovereign over the institution of government. The premise that our unalienable rights do not emanate from man, meaning government, but rather from our Creator God, the Supreme and Sovereign Guide. The challenge we face today is whether we can right the balance between the individual citizen and the institution of government. And, ladies and gents, this has less to do with two political parties, rather, it is about principles.

    Yes, I am the Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. In that role, it is my duty and responsibility to advocate for, and advance, the legislative priorities of the grassroots constitutional conservatives of Texas in accordance with their platform, as voted upon at the GOP state convention. As I ponder these remaining days of this 87th Texas legislative session, where the RPT priorities were clearly stated, one can only be utterly disappointed. The progressive socialist left targeted Texas with hundreds of millions of dollars but were beaten back in 2020. The left achieved no electoral gains in the Lone Star State. One would consider that a Texas legislature with a majority of 83-67 in the State House and 18-13 in the Senate would have no issue passing RPT legislative priorities. This is in addition to having a Republican Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

    Again, disappointment.

    Consider that our very own Republican-controlled legislature killed legislation such as HB 1399, which would have protected Texas children from chemical and physical castration. And, it appears, based upon an article in the National File that Texas children may have been sold out for $250K in campaign contributions. SB 1311 still has a chance to be heard, but it has been due to the intense pressure from our grassroots.

    Speaking of our Texas children, legislation supporting school choice was killed. And, it appears that the Austin lobby class, hired by respective Independent School Districts (ISDs) were the hitmen who ensured educational freedom and liberty would be unavailable for our Texas children. This lead to another RPT legislative priority, ending the practice of taxpayer-funded lobbying, being killed.

    We want to ensure our history is taught to our children and is preserved for all of us, the good, bad, and ugly. History remains for us to learn from, not revise, based upon any particular ideological agenda. Hint, America was established on July 4, 1776, not 1619. However, there will be no legislation addressing monument protection from this Republican-controlled legislature. Though it was not a legislative priority, I applaud the Texas Senate for passing SB 2202 banning the Marxist Critical Race Theory (CRT) indoctrination in our schools. The legislation must go back to the Texas House as the leftists were able to water down HB 3979, which also sought to ban CRT.

    HB 1927, Constitutional Carry, is heading to Governor Abbott’s desk. We are still awaiting the result of a very integral measure for the future of our State and Constitutional Republic, Election Integrity. The legislation, SB 7, was a strong election integrity measure, but it was gutted, substituted, and watered down in the Texas House by progressive socialists. Election integrity is not about voter suppression. The unconstitutional actions of the left in the 2020 election cycle suppressed the votes of honest Americans, Texans.

    Yes, we have a Heartbeat Bill, SB 8, that has been passed and signed into law by Governor Abbott. However, the RPT legislative priority was to end the practice of murdering unborn babies in Texas . . .something that the people of Lubbock were able to achieve.

    When the left is in control we know what we shall get, progressive socialism, Marxism, communism, statism, Critical Race Theory, and anarchism. They are unafraid, and have no shame, ruling over us and seeking to fundamentally change our Republic, including instituting an open borders policy by Executive Order. Yet, how can it be that in Texas, with a Republican Governor, we cannot rectify the situation, which the Constitution enumerates, and secure our own border? Shall we follow the money in this case as well?

    The flawed reasoning that one must vote for Republicans or else allow a Democrat to win is no longer acceptable. If we are to win an ideological battle, we need individuals who have the courage and conviction to fight it. We need Constitutional Conservatives to defeat progressive socialists . . . not merely the presence of the letter R behind a name. Committed individuals who believe in our Judeo-Christian faith heritage, want strong families, support individual rights, freedoms, and liberty, support equality of opportunity, not outcomes, enact policies to build up our small businesses and the free market economic system, and embrace service to our nation.

    There are no more Democrats. They have accepted and embraced such abject radicalism that they align themselves with an Islamic terrorist organization called Hamas. These leftists are delusional and deranged in their pursuit of undermining and destroying our country. Don’t believe me, then go sit in a gas line or watch the steady flow of illegal immigrants into our nation.

    Moderate Republicans? Like ol’ Buck West would say, “the only thing in the middle of the road is roadkill.” Even in the Book of Revelation we are told that we are either hot or cold; if we are lukewarm we will be spewed from God’s mouth. So, choose for yourselves today what principles, values, and governing philosophy guides you.

    I have made my choice, and hence unafraid to write a missive such as this.
