US Supreme Court declines to hear Indiana’s appeal; same-sex couples can be on birth certs

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear an Indiana case involving same-sex couples and the birth certificates of their children.

The high court’s decision means a lower court’s ruling will stand that allows the names of same-sex couples to be listed as parents on their children’s birth certificates.

Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill had petitioned the court after the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a decision from Indiana’s federal Southern District court that determined Indiana laws limiting who could be called a parent were unconstitutional.

“We are disappointed the Court declined to take up the case,” said Solicitor General Tom Fisher in a statement.

This news again shows why it it so important to mobilize GOP conservatives bases and raise political donations, otherwise Dems (once funded by MAGA) could end up filling courts with people who do not align with Republican Family Values.

ET Sighting in this thread LOL NCliberty and another poster seem to get randomly triggered in LGBTQ , Israel lobby related discussions, so please exercise some cultural sensitivity when initiating discussions on such loaded topics.

If have to guess, probably 80-90% of GOP Christian base cares about DOMA, granted there are more pressing issues (like masks, warp speed vaccinations, 'election theft' etc) on minds of many at this time and this seems to be wrong time to be indulging in such "G-d, Family, Country" related matters.
But that's how Rove helped Bush win 2004 election despite blundering Iraqi freedom failure.

Some people had thought that, now that Trump's appointees are on all the court, that the court would start to reverse some gay rights.

I agree with you that no one should care, and it's honestly disgusting to me that the state of Indiana would try to prevent a couple from putting their names on the birth certificate of their child.

Usually politics behind such moves. Indiana is Pence Country, won't be surprised if this is part of some trial baloon for Pence 2024 and steering of GOP from 'America First' back to 'G-d, Family, Country" political model.
