I disagree. It has been over 20 years since I read this book, but from what I remember the proles pretty much did as they pleased. They didn't have survallince in their areas. They supported their favorite sports ball teams, drank at the pubs, blah, blah, blah.
Because of this I've always had this question: why would anyone with a triple digit IQ join the party? Why not just go through life pretending to be a dumb a$$? I can honestly say life as a Prole is better than that of a member of the Outer Party. Maybe that extra chocolate ration draws people to the party, I don't know. Someone PLEASE ENLIGHTMENT ME! Tell me why I'm wrong.
