Did Joe Biden just have his "Hillary Clinton Coal" moment?

Anyone who paid attention in 2016 and is even halfway honest knows the real reason Hillary lost wasn't some alleged Russian hacking. As her far more politically savvy husband said "It's the economy stupid." Well in 2016 Hillary Clinton said she was going to put coal miners out of work and coal companies out of businesses. She added the "We have to help them transition to new jobs" cover story....but the damage to her campaign was done.



Fast forward to tonight. After going on and on about how he's not going to ban fracking, Joe Biden just admitted on national television that he's going to end the oil industry altogether! So....who cares if "fracking" is still allowed? Oh sure...he also included the "We're going to help them transition to new green jobs" cover story. But he still just said he was going to end the oil industry. So....for the people who work in the oil industry who haven't early voted yet....well lose Joe their votes? We shall see.

Because some people literally hate the industry those other people work in. To be fair many conservative Christians would joyfully vote for someone who said he would put everyone in the porn industry out of business or the abortion industry. The real issue here is that some on the left view industry that they depend on as immoral as porn or abortion. As they drive around in their gas guzzling minivans or fly around on public and/or private jets they long for the death of the industry literally fueling their lifestyle. It's like Jimmy Swaggart being outspokenly against porn while paying hookers to watch them masturbate. Hmmmmmm.....now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense.

Waiting to ensure uninterrupted power for everyone as we transition away from fossil fuels will cost too much time - and too many lives.

Many decades ago electricity became the new oxygen, and the vast majority of Americans today believe they need it every moment of every waking or sleeping hour. The United States has built a vast infrastructure for generating, transmitting, and consuming it - all almost entirely based on planet-destroying fossil fuels and nuclear power.

What applies in the pandemic also applies - and also with desperate urgency - in the climate crisis. We can live with some intermittency and rationing - at least until batteries and other forms of energy storage are up and running everywhere. Hospitals certainly need 100 percent reliable equipment - perhaps some “continuous” businesses and cell towers too. And, in cities, elevators, streetlights, and subways must run reliably. One could imagine battery-assisted, semi-smart micro-grids connecting such infrastructure as well as home medical devices. But we don’t need the entire residential third of U.S. electricity consumption to run off lithium or to operate seamlessly. We don’t need Nest or permanent telecommuting. For a while, let’s eat a cold dinner here and there. Continuity costs too much. Climate change kills, and it kills vulnerable people first. Intermittency saves lives, and it saves vulnerable people first. Let the pause take its place in continuous climate activism.
