Thread: QAnon is Tearing Families Apart

    QAnon is Tearing Families Apart

The loneliness of losing loved ones to QAnon is something Kerry, of Oklahoma City, knows well. “QAnon” meant nothing to him, he recalled, when he found a stockpile of water and food in his house, which his then-wife told him was “because she believed Trump was going to be declaring martial law any day in order to effectuate a mass arrest of Democrats,” something known to QAnon believers as “the storm.” (His ex-wife declined to comment, and to protect her privacy, The Post is only using Kerry’s first name.)

Kerry dug deeper, trying to understand his wife’s beliefs. They would debate. Eventually they started avoiding it “to keep peace in the house,” but she eventually grew more assertive and “what was once a taboo topic became something we were arguing about all the time.”

    Still, he empathized.

“She was getting frustrated that nobody in her immediate family was buying in and supporting her,” Kerry said. “She felt like she was alone in this crusade. … And I know this was extremely frustrating and hurtful for her.”

He and their then-18-year-old son held an intervention. It failed. “We were together a very long time. We managed to get past a lot of things I’ve seen end other marriages,” he said. “But this was the thing we couldn’t get past.”

    Their 20-year marriage ended.

This isn't a matter of disagreeing on abortion or the budget deficit.

It's a matter of believing that the charismatic bald guy in the orange robe with the jungle compound is God, or not.

In messianic religious movements, the millennium is invariably established by a mighty, violent upheaval, an Armageddon, a great apocalyptic war between good and evil. After this titanic conflict, a millennium, a new age, of peace and harmony, a reign of justice, would be established upon the earth.

The message behind Q is stop dividing yourself and focus on corruption. Go around the gatekeepers. Unite.

The message is not a matter of believing that Trump is God. Do you want to try again?

Qanon is fairly deranged boomer cope, so this isn't that surprising. But breaking up families over politics is a largely leftist phenomenon. They openly proclaim that you should leave your spouse if they vote for Trump or keep their kids grandparents away if they're Republicans. Of course that's not going to get a story in the Post.

Why would anybody believe something from WaPo?

All of their articles have been proven to be complete BS in the past.

Q has talked about how Hillary colluded with Russia to come up with the Russia hoax to distract from her crimes and her emails, and in the last week that has been proven to be correct from redacted FBI notes. Obama was briefed on it, too.

    This thread is complete garbage.

Point taken. Q says there will be disinfo. He asks you to think for yourself and do some discerning. Blind obedience isn't part of the campaign.

Well, if that's all that you take away from Q, then that's fine.

But, as you might know, that is not what the typical Q-aficionado takes from it.

They think that there are kids under central park, and only Messiah Trump can save them.

...and there are secret marines on standby with sealed warrants.

...and Hillary's going to be arrested any day now.

...and, why not, something something lizard people.

The problem is state interference in the market economy.

The (ideal) solution is an unfettered market economy.

It isn't about any emotions or privacy or this or that buzzword.

It's simple; does or does not the state interfere in the market.

To the extent it does, there will be mothers unable to feed their children.

The other way, the other way.

In short, and this seems an odd conclusion here on RPF, the solution is liberty.

    ...kind of, duh, no?

Ugly form of collectivism. People are individuals. They are also lost and confused in the current toxic environment. I put no blame on the masses for seeking and interpreting in the fog.

You can't get people to agree to an unfettered economy if they are divided against each other.

That's precisely what they use to push marxism.

He is here trying to demoralize and divide people by using disingenuous arguments, I don't think many are falling for it now, but that won't stop him or others anytime soon. I'm not a big fan or supporter or Qanon either, so with that respect I agree with the OP, but I don't see how anything they are doing or anything the followers of Q are hurting anyone. Like you said, they are getting people to ask questions that none of us ever really asked before, and they are talking about the evils of the system, the unending corruption, how this country's most powerful are not working for the people anymore, and probably never did, and instead are actively working against us. The predictions when they have happened don't often seem to pan out, but it's the general idea that we should be questioning the media 100% of the time, questioning the narrative, and asking ourselves questions instead of obediently following any one politician, political party, news group, etc.

It's good for people that never cared one iota about politics prior to 2015 and now are looking into and researching what is going on as things seem to be imploding and corruption is being exposed every single day. If this is getting people more involved, good. So in that respect, I'll take it and when compared to the endless amount of apathy we had for the preceding decades, this is a huge improvement.

What I described is the QAnon movement as it actually exists.

If you find this disturbing, as you should, as any rational person would, perhaps you should look elsewhere for wisdom.
