    Even if they did annonce themselves before kicking in the door. Who in their right mind believes what somebody says at 2 in the morning. just before kicking in the door?

    It's possible there were 2 warrants. They'd need an arrest warrant for the dude, but if he's hiding at Breonna's apartment, they need a search warrant for Breonna. I'm pretty sure the media doesn't want to mention the search warrant for Breonna Taylor because it implies that Breonna's character might not be the saintly image that they've been constructing. (standard disclaimer: she did not deserve to die, but 'sleep with dogs, get fleas' rule applies)
