Louisville, KY under State of Emergency ahead of Taylor court decision

The Louisville Metro Police Department announces a state of emergency as it prepares for a grand jury decision in the Breonna Taylor case.

    https://www.cincinnati.com/story/new...on/5862836002/

Louisville officials say they don't know when a decision from Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron is coming in regards to the Breonna Taylor case. But the city is restricting downtown access and taking other actions Tuesday morning, including a state of emergency order from Mayor Greg Fischer.

Here's what's happening Tuesday in Louisville:

    Protesters gather downtown
Despite road closings and barricades set up throughout the area, several protesters met downtown Tuesday night at their usual gathering spot in Jefferson Square Park, leading chants of "Whose street? Our street" and "You can't stop the revolution."

Protesters began marching down Liberty Street just before 8 p.m. and eventually returned to the park at Sixth and Jefferson streets

I don't know too much about her case. From what I understand, she was spending the night at her boyfriend's and the police did a no knock raid because the police had a warrant for his arrest and when the police started shooting at him, she jumped in front of the bullets to save him.

Grand Jury Indicts 1 Police Officer in Breonna Taylor Death

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2...-taylor-death/

    Breitbart News 23 Sep 2020

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky grand jury on Wednesday indicted a single police officer for shooting into neighboring apartments but did not move forward with charges against any officers for their role in Breonna Taylor’s death.

A grand jury announced that Officer Brett Hankison was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment in connection to the police raid on the night of March 13.

Neither the grand jury nor the presiding judge elaborated on the charges.

State Attorney General Daniel Cameron scheduled a news conference in the capital, Frankfort, to discuss the grand jury’s decision.

Protesters have consistently pressured him to act, and celebrities and pro athletes had joined them in calling on the attorney general to charge the police who shot Taylor. At one point, demonstrators converged on his house and were charged with felonies for trying to intimidate the prosecutor.

A Republican, he is the state’s first Black state attorney general and a protege of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who has been tagged by some as his heir apparent. His was also one of 20 names on President Donald Trump’s list to fill a future Supreme Court vacancy.

Taylor, an emergency medical worker, was shot multiple times by officers who entered her home using a no-knock warrant during a narcotics investigation. The warrant used to search her home was connected to a suspect who did not live there, and no drugs were found inside. The use of no-knock warrants has since been banned by Louisville’s Metro Council.

Cameron’s office had been receiving materials from the Louisville Police Department’s public integrity unit while they tried to determine whether state charges would be brought against the three officers involved, he said.

Before charges were brought, Hankison was fired from the city’s police department on June 23. A termination letter sent to him by interim Louisville Police Chief Robert Schroeder said the white officer had violated procedures by showing “extreme indifference to the value of human life” when he “wantonly and blindly” shot 10 rounds of gunfire into Taylor’s apartment in March.

Hankison, Sgt. Johnathan Mattingly, Officer Myles Cosgrove and the detective who sought the warrant, Joshua Jaynes, were placed on administrative reassignment after the shooting.

Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, opened fire when police burst in, hitting Mattingly. Walker was charged with attempted murder of a police officer, but prosecutors later dropped the charge.

Walker told police he heard knocking but didn’t know who was coming into the home and fired in self-defense.

On Sept. 15, the city settled a lawsuit against the three officers brought by Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, agreeing to pay her $12 million and enact police reforms.

Protesters in Louisville and across the country have demanded justice for Taylor and other Black people killed by police in recent months. The release in late May of a 911 call by Taylor’s boyfriend marked the beginning of days of protests in Louisville, fueled by her shooting and the violent death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis on May 25.

Several prominent African American celebrities including Oprah and Beyoncé have joined those urging that the officers be charged.

Just saw on the local news in Louisville that a U-Haul truck showed up with shields. From the camera shots, you could see the antifa three arrow insignia on them. It's going to get rowdy in Kentucky.

Of course the cops got off. They followed policy, they broke no laws, blah blah blah... And it's true. They did exactly what they were designed to do.

This is why I dislike the BLM organization. It's all about black people exclusively suffering what everyone suffers. They do not address what allows this to happen to everyone.

This is incorrect, looks like we were all fooled again.

Turns out Breonna was named in the raid warrant, she was suspected of drug dealing.

Turns out they DID knock. Turns out somebody fired a gun at the police officers from behind the door.

That is why the cops skated, because as usual the jury hears the real facts and we get our facts from the fake news.

Well since the protests were the least effective thing on the entire planet, in fact they ended up majorly hurting their cause and possibly costing them the election, maybe the ALM people will do the smart thing and make the correct decision at the ballot box instead.. Instead of supporting the guy who wrote the '94 crime bill and the woman who put thousands of black men in prison for a long time under those laws for low level crimes.

Maybe they will support the guy who fought for and passed criminal justice reform?

These pro agitator commie groups better leave town after tonight . By tomorrow the facts that the cops were shot at first from the home will be out and the locals will lose sympathy for agitators and the cops are going to go back to being cops. Even stupid people know you dont shoot at the cops and what that brings .

My reading of it says he is being charged for shooting into the apartment of Chelsey Napper.

I need to see the layout of things.

Points are: cops skated again, while Kyle Rittenhouse is in jail and Marxists and coloreds will riot again, over an incident that is much less egregious than ones that have happened to white people at the hands of cops many more times.

Yeah, there is no good choice here.

Rand believed it was a no-knock raid.

And then the Bolsheviks descended on him and his wife, demanding they "say her name" just before they got ready to beat the $#@! out of them, when he wrote the damn bill and named it after her that bans no knock raids.

Facts always changing, just like everything, difficult to get facts on this..

Now apparently they knocked, nobody would open the door, so they rammed it open THEN were fired on. Then the officers shot. So they might not even get convicted of the charges they got. They did shoot into the nextdoor apartment, though.
