29 Million People Receiving Unemployment Benefits

The headline numbers for continued unemployment insurance claims that you often see on financial news don't take into account the many millions of people who are ineligible for traditional unemployment insurance and who instead receive money under the newly created federal programs. If you add these two figures, you get a more realistic picture of unemployment in America: 29 million people, or 18% of the labor force.

This is probably a good time to plug the shadowstats site:

    http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate...loyment-charts

The seasonally-adjusted SGS Alternate Unemployment Rate reflects current unemployment reporting methodology adjusted for SGS-estimated long-term discouraged workers, who were defined out of official existence in 1994. That estimate is added to the BLS estimate of U-6 unemployment, which includes short-term discouraged workers.
The U-3 unemployment rate is the monthly headline number. The U-6 unemployment rate is the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) broadest unemployment measure, including short-term discouraged and other marginally-attached workers as well as those forced to work part-time because they cannot find full-time employment.

It's possible to hide reality in plain sight for so long as the government can print unlimited amounts of money.

The key thing to watch is the deterioration in the government's ability to do that (without clearly catastrophic consequences)

It is time to go back to the family values and one working breadwinner.

Then it's time to give laissez faire a try.
