Trump to mobilize military to deliver COVID vaccine to millions ‘very, very quickly’

Trump said that a military general is overseeing the logistics of delivering the vaccine once it is developed.

    Fri Jul 31, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 31, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Amid growing concerns about the safety and efficacy of a COVID-19 vaccine, President Donald Trump has announced his administration is “all set to march when it comes to the [coronavirus] vaccine,” with a military general overseeing the logistics of delivering the still-in-development product.

“I think you’re going to see something that’s going to be spectacular,” Trump said on Thursday. “The FDA has approved things at a rate that’s a tiny fraction of what it would … take during another administration.”

“We are way ahead on vaccines, way ahead on therapeutics. And when we have it, we’re all set up with our platforms to deliver them very, very quickly,” he added.
Based on “a senior administration official,” Politico reported that “distribution of any coronavirus vaccine will be a ‘joint venture’ between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], which typically oversees vaccine allocation, and the Department of Defense.”

While, according to the official, the Department of Defense “is handling all the logistics of getting the vaccines to the right place, at the right time, in the right condition,”, the CDC is tasked with tracking any side effects, as well as “some of the communications through the state relationships [and] the state public health organizations.”

On May 15, President Trump had launched “Operation Warp Speed” in order to fast-track the development of a coronavirus vaccine, bringing together “the best of American industry and innovation, the full resources of the United States government, and the excellence and precision of the United States military.”

“Its objective is to finish developing and then to manufacture and distribute a proven coronavirus vaccine as fast as possible,” Trump explained. “In addition, it will continue accelerating the development of diagnostics and breakthrough therapies.”

He could do that if the population accepts the vax voluntarily. If he deploys the military to force it upon people it creates a major constitutional crisis. It's all theoretical anyway, there is no vax and Trump may not be president if there is one.

They will riot no matter who wins. A peaceful transfer of power is unlikely.

Yes. Biden is worse. Which is precisely why he stands a good chance of winning.

WASHINGTON – American University Professor Allan Lichtman, who is well-known for accurately predicting American presidential elections, says former Vice President Joe Biden will beat President Donald Trump in the November election.

Lichtman, a political historian who has correctly predicted the outcomes of all presidential elections since 1984, with an asterisk, was one of the few forecasters who projected in 2016 Trump would become the 45th president while also correctly predicting Trump would be impeached as president.

He uses a "13 key factors" system he designed to decide who will emerge victorious. It includes factors like the advantage of incumbency, long and short-term economic figures, scandals, social unrest, and more.

"The keys predict that Trump will lose the White House," Lichtman stated Wednesday in a New York Times video op-ed.

Lichtman believes it will be a close election, predicting with his system that seven of the keys swing towards Biden, while six favor Trump.

According to Lichtman, Trump has an advantage with being the incumbent as well as not facing a serious primary challenger, nor a serious third party candidate. These are some things that hurt former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, Lichtman predicted then, pointing to Gary Johnson's third-party run and the fact she wasn't an incumbent.

And just how the Democrats' failures in the 2014 midterm elections may have impacted the nation contest in 2016, Lichtman predicts GOP losing the House of Representatives in 2018 could have the same negative effect for Trump.

The Republicans' loss of the House not only gives Trump a zero in that category, but it also leads to losing another key: dealing with scandal, which includes his impeachment, "plus plenty of other scandals," Lichtman states.

Lichtman also pointed to the massive social unrest erupting around the country through protests against racial injustice following the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor as a factor to potentially help Biden.

"There has been enough social unrest on the streets with enough violence to threaten the social order," Lichtman said.

The professor also swung both long and short-term economic impacts towards Biden following economic collapse due to the coronavirus, explaining, "The pandemic has caused such negative GDP growth in 2020 that the key has turned false" to helping Trump.

Lichtman also labeled both Biden and Trump as not having the advantage of being charismatic, deeming Biden the "uncharismatic challenger" while saying Trump is a "great showman, but only appeals to a narrow slice of the American people."

The professor said Trump's candidacy made 2016 "the most difficult election to assess" since beginning his predictions.

He also said “there are forces at play outside the keys” in 2020, including potential voter suppression and possible meddling from foreign countries, including Russia.

Lichtman claims to have accurately predicted the winner of every presidential contest since Ronald Reagan's reelection in 1984. While he predicted former Vice President Al Gore would win the election in 2000, he stands by his projection, stating Gore won the popular vote while former President George W. Bush won the electoral college after the Supreme Court ruling.

Professor who successfully predicts elections says 91% chance Trump wins

    By
    M. Dowling -

    July 9, 20205

Stony Brook University, a very fine university, employs a political science professor named Helmut Norpoth who has an amazing track record successfully predicting the winner of presidential races.
He was correct in 25 of 27 races.
Dr. Norpoth came up with software to make the predictions and he says “the Primary Model gives Trump a 91% chance of winning in November. This model has picked the winner in all but two elections since 1912, when primaries were introduced, including, of course, Trump’s victory in 2016,” Mr. Norpoth tells Inside the Beltway in a statement.

On March 7, 2016, it predicted then-candidate Donald Trump had an 87% chance of defeating Hillary Clinton. Will the president also vanquish Democratic nominee Joseph R. Biden?
“As for polls showing Trump trailing Joe Biden right now, remember 2016. Polls and poll-based forecasts all handed Clinton a certain victory.” he said.
He was only wrong on a couple of occasions. One was the 1960 Nixon-Kennedy race. Nixon actually won that race but there was corruption in Illinois that put Kennedy over the top. Kennedy’s father bragged that he bought the votes in Illinois.
The prediction was wrong with President George W. Bush’s election in 2000. In 2000, Bush won a majority of the electoral college but lost the popular vote.
His model also works for past elections, back to 1912.

Norpoth’s model is based upon performance in presidential primaries and that enthusiasm or the lack thereof as the strongest indicator of the ultimate outcome.
