The conservative youth group Turning Point USA deleted a tweet mocking protective masks after its cofounder Bill Montgomery died at 80 of complications related to COVID-19.
Two friends of Montgomery confirmed his death to Politico on Wednesday. In a tweet on Tuesday evening, Charlie Kirk, the group's chairman, paid tribute to him, describing him as an "American hero."

"He touched the lives of thousands of young Americans and I will miss him greatly," Kirk wrote.

May 12, 2020 - WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump painted an improving picture of the coronavirus pandemic Monday even as the threat of the virus hit ...

Part of controversy seems to be stemming from the fact that many private businesses could be trying to treat their customers' safety as if they were all VIPs (and in part to avoid lawsuits perhaps).

That said, there has been no reports in MSM about GOPA wing's liberal surrogates like cited in above news trying to distract part of the GOP base with mask gimmicks so they don't pay attention to $6 Trillion debt funded spending in the war against 'invisible enemy' aka 'hoax'.
