HOUSTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Sunday criticized a privately built border wall in South Texas that’s showing signs of erosion months after going up, saying it was “only done to make me look bad,” even though the wall was built after a months-long campaign by his supporters.

The group that raised money online for the wall promoted itself as supporting Trump during a government shutdown that started in December 2018 because Congress wouldn’t fund Trump’s demands for a border wall. Called “We Build the Wall,” the group has raised more than $25 million promoting itself as supporting the president.

The private wall is falling apart already, which could imply his entire rush to build wall and ignore many studies typically done on large construction would lead to the same. It's all about perception for our narcissist in chief. If it isn't new and shiny and can be spun to be the best it is against him.

The borders need good security not really a wall. I can see why Mcain dropped the idea after he came in.

Can't say that for all politicians but some opportunist politcians could in theory try to get political mileage out of phenomenon like caravans spring, BLM spring, Antifa spring, Covid/claimed millions of lives saved etc.

Not sure if you know but cartoonist whose work you quoted is lately persona non grata for Trump White House. Perhaps out of deference to our national leaders, should consider temporary self-censorship and minimize citations of his cartoons for time being?
