House Democrats passed a bill Friday to make Washington, D.C., the 51st U.S. state, a historic move unlikely to gain traction in the Republican-held Senate.
The chamber approved it by a 232-180 vote.
The legislation would give Washington residents, who have long decried the fact that they pay federal taxes but have no voting representation in Congress, one House member and two senators. A smaller area encompassing the White House, U.S. Capitol, and other federal buildings and monuments would remain under U.S. oversight.
Washington’s longtime nonvoting House delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton introduced the bill, which would change the name of the district to the state of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth. In advocating for the legislation Friday, she noted that D.C.’s population of about 700,000 is larger than that of Wyoming or Vermont, and that the district pays more federal taxes than 22 states.
“As we approach July 4th, it is long past time to apply the nation’s oldest slogan, ‘no taxation without representation,’ and the principle of consent of the governed to District of Columbia residents,” Norton said.

Washington DC population is mostly black in population correct? its not a surprise that the democrats are using demographics to their advantage. Tim Pool says that Trump has no platform and nor do the democrats have a platform either all they want to with Biden is bring back all the Obama polices that Trump removed and being added with a new green deal.

Mostly it's for the two freebie Democrat Senators. When the Democrats take back power and get this signed, it should fail in the supreme court, but of course the traitor John Roberts will say we have to allow it even though it goes against the constitution.

It is. It's Federal Jurisdiction because that way they could avoid placing the capital in either a Northern State or Southern State after the Civil War.

Here's a radical idea. Give it back to Maryland and Virginia. Or if a resident wants to vote for representatives, they can move to an actual state instead of the federal city of DC.

Washington DC was purposefully placed in the South as part of the Compromise of 1790. Hence why two Southern States ceded land to create it.

DC lays on ceded territory from Maryland, if they want to be apart of a state so bad then retrocede it back to Maryland as they did prior with Virginia. They should split federal bureaucracy up and place it in different states, they can't have their cake and eat it too.

You have to think back to the colonies and the revolutionary war.

The bulk of the population was concentrated in New England... NY, MA, CT, NH, RI, etc. But there were also colonies in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Virginia (which carried a lot of weight).


So if you live where most Americans did at the time, in New England, then yes, indeed, the border of Maryland and Virginia is "southern" to you.... despite the fact that Maryland is north of the Mason-Dixon line.

Residents now have representation, problem solved right? But no, the real motive behind this is to use the current manufactured racial crisis to tip the senate in favor of the democrats.
