Thumbs up Rand stopped Bolton from becoming Sec of State!

As John Bolton reportedly writes in his new book, President Donald Trump said he would have made Bolton his secretary of state if it wasn't for that "son of a b**** Rand Paul" from Kentucky.

"I’d love to have you over there, [as Secretary of State]" Trump reportedly told Bolton in 2018.

"That son of a b**** Rand Paul will vote against you," Trump said, according to Bolton.

After getting hired as the national security adviser, Bolton learned Paul privately called him "the worst f***ing decision” Trump had made.

The president then reportedly brought up Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky's other Republican senator.

"And McConnell is worried (Paul) may persuade other Republicans, who need his vote on judges and other things," Trump added, according to Bolton.

This was a great move by Rand but too bad Rand didn't stand firm and vote against some of the other bad appointees the President made (Kavanaugh, Pompeo).

At which point will Americans realize that creating an unaccountable institution that is able to pass its liability on to tax-payers is immoral and attracts sociopaths?

Kavanaugh is a pretty good judge. Would have been absurd to vote against him. Rand's top libertarian legal advisor gave Kavanaugh a big thumbs up.

Pompeo is debatable but he was a solid congressman particularly on domestic issues.

I sure wish both Rand and Ron were 2 of Trump's top advisers

No, he wasn't. Have you looked at his history?

Squishy on the right to keep and bear arms, and actually part of the swamp who had a big hand in writing the PATRIOT ACT.

Literally everyone is a squish in your opinion on the 2nd Amendment. You would equate George Washington with Ruth Bader Ginsburg if he were alive. You thought Rand Paul supporting a two day waiting period for people on a no fly list was horrible sin. Kavanaugh is very solid on the issue. Pretty sure he is one of the better judges on the issue.

Bad on the Patriot Act. One issue.

Nope, Gorsuch is pretty good on 2A. So is Judge Napolitano. Thomas Massie is perfect on it. Ron was pretty good too, as is Mike Lee.

It is. It's unconstitutional and contrary to the right to keep and bear arms.

Here is what the National Association for Gun Rights had to say about Kavanaugh:

    ________________________________

"Judge Brian Kavanaugh currently serves on the DC Court of Appeals, and has deep ties to the Bush Administration.

On the surface, Kavanaugh has sided correctly on two Second Amendment cases, which leaves the door open that he could vote ok on the Supreme Court.

However, several outlets including The Daily Caller, Axios, and The Washington Post have described Kavanaugh as being the “low energy” pick “facing questions” from conservatives.

And questions remain on whether or not Kavanuaugh left open the possibility that some gun controls are permissible, when he said:

“[The Supreme Court left] little doubt that courts are to assess gun bans and regulations based on text, history, and tradition, not by a balancing test such as strict or intermediate scrutiny.” 3

Though he ruled right on this case, what gun bans Kavanuaugh thinks would meet that test is unclear.

3Heller v. DC, No. 10-7036; Decided 10/4/11, DC Court of Appeals
