I'm not hating on Amash. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on here and get to the bottom of it.

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Then it was Kindergarten Sex Grooming by Law.
Then they Closed the Churches the Restaurants and Bars.

and now folks just are not asking.

    They are warning.
I support the 2nd. Heck I even personally go beyond the current laws about semi-auto and think you should be able to own full auto and any capacity mag if that is your desire.

If it's a 2nd protest it's one thing, but if it's a protest against the lockdown, you don't win over the liberals by freaking them out with dudes with in tactical gear with an AR15 slug on their back. You just make clickbait stories about "armed right wing racists" for the MSM.

You know, Amash may have a point. Average working people are hurting, they lost their jobs and are angry with the government. This could be an opportunity to turn them and wake them up to how bad things are getting loss of freedom and liberties.

Effectively comparing any protester carrying as being a Nazi. Exactly the narrative the news media and the far left want to represent which he continues to carry water for. This is indefensible.
I think he's saying "Why give the media ammo to smear you?" In a lot of ways, protestors walk right into the trap that the media wants, where the protests can be characterized however the media decides and broadcast far and wide based on a few select pictures. Going into the state house with nazi signs and guns isn't going to change much unless they're intended to be used. Clearly, the mere ownership of guns in the country hasn't stopped the slow grind into tyranny. Maybe slowed it down some but obviously hasn't stopped or reversed it.

Having said that, I'm somewhat a purist but so far I'm willing to cut Amash some breaks on his rhetoric since his track record is otherwise fabulous. He's so far campaigning like he's actually trying to win a national election instead of harping on wonky policy points that most voters don't care about nor even really understand. We KNOW how dumbed down the average voter is and it's folly to think they'll suddenly decide to become scholars. I'm ok at this point with a libertarian with a solid track record running a populist campaign since only populist campaigns actually win. Slogging through another election season just to win the usual 1-2%? No thanks.

Or maybe he's trying to win by running a populist campaign that offers appeal to all sections of voters? No one is going to win a national election by advocating storming state houses with rifles and Hitler pictures. They're just not.

There's personal preferences and then there's electoral realities. I'm reminded of Clinton's statement about having "private positions and public positions"...
Plus, he's already getting more media coverage than pretty much every LP candidate ever and it's not because he's saying everyone should go all 3%er on their state houses.

Anyway, Amash is getting press. And he's clearly trying to appeal to people who aren't Trump supporters. Which means it's highly possible that he'll end up being more of a Biden spoiler than a Trump spoiler.

He compared the people carrying Nazi symbols to Nazis. The point made about those carrying guns into the legislature was that it might be seen as attempting to intimidate the legislators. Frankly I'm surprised Michigan even allows that. I'm pretty sure Tennessee doesn't. I know you can't carry going into a courthouse. Michigan is freer than I thought. I wonder how they ended up with their current governor?

I don't see where that comparison is made except by posters to this thread and those looking to continue their ongoing LP smear campaign on RPF like Swordy. Amash's quote doesn't say that and could only be inferred by the use of "and" in his quote. Some of y'all are acting like he said "people carrying nazi symbols with guns", instead of his actual quote which I posted at the beginning of the thread.

Quite possible.. although R & D might not be very telling in some cases; also based on track record, it could be argued that Trump is more of a Democrat/Liberal than Hillary Clinton on various issues.

But to follow up on the fake hate aspect, do you think Trump officials are also responding to 'fake hate' or their global campaign against hate is genuine?
