    Jon Huntsman On The Record

    - Jon Meade Huntsman, Jr. was born March 26, 1960 in Redwood City, California to Karen (Haight) Huntsman and billionaire businessman and philanthropist Jon Huntsman, Sr. of the Huntsman Corporation.

    - Under President George H. W. Bush, Huntsman was Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for trade development and commerce for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. In June 1992, Bush appointed Huntsman to become U.S. Ambassador to Singapore.

    - In 2001 Jon Huntsman guided the accession of China into the World Trade Organization.

    - During Huntsman's administration, Utah’s state budget rose from $16.7 to $22.8 billion. Utah saw spending increases higher than inflation and in 2006 Huntsman proposed the largest state budget in the state's history.

    - Jon Huntsman was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009 to be ambassador to China. Huntsman resigned his post in the spring to work on his 2012 presidential run.

    - Jon Huntsman served as chairman Huntsman Corporation, a global manufacturer and marketer of differentiated chemicals. The Huntsman Corporation is a bipartisan political donor. During the 2010 election cycle, the corporation's political action committee contributed to longtime Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.). In previous elections, the PAC has contributed to ideologically varied politicians like Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y) in 2004 and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.).

    - Jon and his wife, Mary Kaye, have doled out $30,600 since the 1992 election cycle. The top three recipients of the Huntsman's campaign contributions were:
    * Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who received a total of $5,600, encompassing both his 2000 unsuccessful primary run for the Republican presidential nomination and his unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid against Obama.
    * President George H.W. Bush, who received $4,000 during the 1992 election cycle.
    * President George W. Bush, who received $4,000 across both of his successful presidential runs.

    - In 2007 Huntsman backed John McCain and became one of the McCain campaign's national Co-Chairs, and went with McCain to Iraq over Thanksgiving in 2007.

    - As governor in 2007, in response to the issue of Global Warming, Huntsman signed the Western Climate Initiative, by which Utah joined with other governments, including three Canadian provinces, in agreeing to pursue targets for reduced production of greenhouse gases. He also appeared in an advertisement sponsored by Environmental Defense, in which he said, "Now it's time for Congress to act by capping greenhouse-gas pollution.

    - Huntsman supported individual healthcare mandate in 2007 but now opposes it. Huntsman and his administration went on to support a 2007 United Way of Salt Lake City plan which called for a mandate. That same year, his cabinet and others pushed draft legislation that mirrored the Massachusetts model and the United Way plan and included a mandate. When the Utah legislature balked at such a mandate, it was taken off the table. Huntsman has denied that he ever supported a mandate.

    - Jon Huntsman: “The greatest gift we could give this country on the 10th year anniversary of 9-11 is a Homeland Security Department that really works.”

    - Jon Huntsman: Cyber intrusion is the new battlefield, and an act of war. “What we need in this country is to use this issue as not only an economic development tool, but also a national security tool.”

    - Jon Huntsman supported an increase in the federal minimum wage.

    - Jon Huntsman supported the DREAM Act which proposed a path to citizenship for young people brought to the United States by their parents illegally.

Just like Rand and Justin he is... most of the time.

Unfortunately Thomas seems to be the only 100% consistent one in DC these days.

Rand endorsed Romney after his dad dropped out. Politics as usual? That is what is wrong and has partly contributed to the decline of this country.

I equate it with lessers of evil. Most people do not look at Records, but rather a letter after the name, or an endorsement, and believe they are making a right decision.

Bad move by Mike, though his record is among the highest, and I would definitely keep him around, he lost credibility by endorsing and associating his name with such a moron.

Huntsman should be ousted, but with this endorsement many “republicans” are going to support him.

Mike Lee is a legislator. He doesn't pretend to be a leader. He votes against almost everything unconstitutional... which makes him of the best senators in 60 odd years. Most of the senators are completely bought off by special interests and vote for massive spending and its always been that way. Rand and Mike Lee do not.

Mike Lee is also anti-war if you look at his votes.

Yep, me knows all of that ;-)

The problem I have is the endorsements of morons, even by legislators with impeccable records.

I dont think there will ever be the perfect candidate unless you run for office yourself and implement your agenda.

Mike/Rand are unique in the senate in the last 60 odd years.. 99% of senators are hopeless and always have been

Warlord, I think you are missing my point, please re-read my original post. I am fully aware of Rand and Mike’s records, and have absolutely no issue there whatsoever. I am speaking solely about the endorsement, and Huntsman own record, which I have provided.

The bad thing about it is the method in which how Rand made the endorsement. And the timing wasn't so good either.

How they vote is more important. You seem to be on a jihad against the best senators in the U.S senate for 60 years.

    Huntsman is clearly a jerkoff.

    Is Lee a jerkoff?

Far from it. He's one of the only senators who holds the line against big government and massive spending but lets crucify him because he endorsed someone we don't like for governor .

Voice of the people, holding him accountable on who to endorse?

For the record for others reading, Mike’s Record is outstanding.

This is a good dialogue to have, thanks, Warlord

A lot of 'conservatives' don't like Mike Lee because he wanted to try and reform the visa lottery system. On twitter whenever I mention him I get loads of their complaints. I tend to say to them that Lee is still an outstanding senator even if you don't like his immigration policy.

Lee is one of those wobbly mofo's whom you're never sure of. There's good & also bad.

    I don't trust him.

    Very good question.

Huntsman's father set up the Chi-Com petrochemical industry.

In fact, he said that it is his most proud achievement in an interview with his fluffer, Glenn Beck.

Do you trust ANY of them?

Perhaps Collins should run for U.S Senate and then should he make it can be the 'perfect' senator as himself. The chance of it happening is zilch..

The weird thing about Mike Lee is that he came from nowhere and was able to win in a convention (UT have a strange process) ousting Mitch's buddy and the HORRIBLE Bob Bennett of which there are endless RINO's like him. Since 2010 he has voted against wars and spending and nearly everything unconstitutional, which is pleasantly surprising.

So the question for @Matt Collins who keeps hating on Rand/Lee. Would the Senate be a better place without them? Are you really trying to argue that?

I don't trust any of them entirely, but Lee and even Rand have done some dumb stuff that makes you wonder. Lee is marginal at best, so I'm highly skeptical. Millions said that Trump didn't have a chance, so Collnz is possible. Git 'er done, Matt.

Mike Lee going on propaganda network newz and rebuking Trump.

That takes balls. No other senator would do it except for Rand maybe.
