I'm trying to find the section where it gives the House salary increases. Have you seen it?

    "Emergency Relief," Huh?

In Title IX - "House of Representatives" (Page 781) of the CARES Act, it reads:

For an additional amount for ‘‘Salaries and Expenses’’, $25,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2021, except that $5,000,000 shall remain available until expended, to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, domestically or internationally, to be allocated in accordance with a spend plan submitted to the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives by the Chief Administrative Officer and approved by such Committee: Provided, That such amount is designated by the Congress as being for an emergency requirement pursuant to section 251(b)(2)(A)(i) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985.
Let's do some math here. The base salary for a representative is $174,000/year. There are 435 members of the House. $25,000,000 divided by 435 is $57,471.26.

That means every representative has a pay increase which brings their base salary to $231,471.26, at least, until September 30th of next year. So, this "emergency relief bill" was supposed to be for those who needed, and yet, the House snuck in a pay increase for themselves.

Is it no wonder they didn't want to have recorded votes for this bill and rather do it by voice vote? This bill stinks already.

I would assume it is job training grants for industries from ten years ago.

    ETA: Ah,

Susan Harwood Training Grants provide training and education for workers and employers on workplace safety and health hazards, responsibilities and rights. Target audiences include underserved, low-literacy, and high-hazard industry workers and employers.

Ya , without reading it that would only go to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for officially federally recognized tribes. That is secret code for the money just going to the Dept of Interior so the white man can oversee the 56 million acres of land " held in trust " by the US . As far as I know Indian earmarked money never really goes to Indians , just bureaucrats . It makes it look like they gave somebody something and they just take more money from you . My Father called it the shell and pea game .

You bring up a good point. What are the Federally recognized tribes doing to rewrite/revoke the "held in trust" clause? Is there any plans in action to rewrite that so Private Property Rights can be implemented?

GOPA wing leadership has defended Kennedy center funding boost through debt spending:

Trump defends $25 million in Kennedy Center funding in coronavirus stimulus

    By Brett Samuels - 03/25/20

President Trump on Wednesday defended the inclusion of $25 million in funding for the Kennedy Center as part of the massive economic relief bill aimed at boosting small businesses and workers harmed by the fallout of the coronavirus.

Trump fashioned himself a supporter of the arts, arguing that the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is deserving of assistance given its inability to put on shows as officials ban large gatherings to try to curb the spread of the virus.
"I’m a fan of that," Trump said of the funding. "I haven’t spent time there because I’m far too busy. I’d love to go there evenings, but I’m too busy doing things."

In 2003, 80% of public supported Bush-Cheney's Iraq freedom war decision... hopefully that was not such a 'riled up mob' phenomenon.

If that's the case then we have a democracy, not a republic. Largely we can thank the 17th Amendment for that nonsense.

True. We have a Republic in name only. I wish all Republican politicians would make a point to refer to our nation as a Republic and stop calling it a Democracy. The general public needs to understand the difference.

Augustus Caesar took precautions to preserve the authority of the Senate, or rather the illusion of authority. This allowed him to be a tyrant, without seeming like a tyrant.
