Nevada’s Democrat Governor Issues Emergency Order Barring Use of Anti-Malaria Drugs For Coronavirus Patients

Nevada’s Governor Steve Sisolak (D) on Tuesday issued an emergency order barring the use of anti-malaria drugs such as chloroquine for Coronavirus patients.

Last week Sisolak shut down casinos and only kept open essential businesses like grocery stores and health care facilities.

In addition to barring the use of chloroquine for Coronavirus patients on Tuesday, Nevada’s governor also banned social gatherings of more than 10 people.

The Associated Press reported (emphasis our own):

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada’s governor on Tuesday night issued an emergency order banning gatherings of more than 10 people in the state indoors or outdoors, a more aggressive move to try to stop the spread of the coronavrius.

Sisolak said the order does not apply to private homes or the homeless, but includes places like social clubs, parks, libraries and sports fields.

Sisolak signed an emergency order earlier Tuesday barring the use of anti-malaria drugs for someone who has the coronavirus. The order restricting chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine came after President Donald Trump touted the medication as a treatment and falsely stated that the Food and Drug Administration had just approved the use of chloroquine to treat patients infected with coronavirus. Sisolak said in a statement that there’s no consensus among experts or Nevada doctors that the drugs can treat people with COVID-19.

Anyone who violates the order will be charged with at least a misdemeanor crime and it remains in place until April 16 (after Easter).

President Trump on Saturday expressed optimism about two drugs that he said could be “one of the biggest game changers” in medicine – hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin.

Hydroxychloroquine is a drug used in the treatment and prevention of malaria. Azithromycin is an antibiotic that is used to treat many different types of infections in the respiratory system, eyes, ears, and skin, as well as sexually transmitted diseases.

A 52-year-old Coronavirus victim recently said he expected to die but hydrochloroquine saved his life:

”An hour after an IV with the medicine, he says his heart felt like it was beating out of his chest. “They had to come in and get me calmed down and take care of me. I had another episode about two hours later where I just got to the point where I couldn’t breathe and my heart was pounding again so they gave me some Benadryl through the system and something else. I’m not sure what it was. It allowed me to go to sleep and when I woke up at exactly 4:45 in the morning, I woke up like nothing ever happened.”Miraculously, he’s since had no fever or pain, feels fine and he’s able to breathe again.

“To me, there was no doubt in mind that I wouldn’t make it until morning,” Giardinieri said. “So to me the drug saved my life. … I just want everyone to know there’s an option. You don’t have to just sit there and hydrate. There’s a medicine that’s working.”

But now Coronavirus patients in Nevada will not have access to these anti-malaria drugs because the governor said so.

This Governors actions are counterproductive and may kill some people. He is guilty of malpractice.

Apparently the problem is that there is now a rush on the drugs, and some are hoarding the medicines. It’s the new toilet paper.

India, probably a main supplier of the drug, has banned all export from India. We have been cut off.

Had an interesting conversation with someone who used to take this drug regularly for arthritis. It may explain the panic by the pharmacy people. It turns out that at least in the US, shortages of this drug are common, and it is very expensive. Seems like it is probably is another case of one of those drugs that is dirt cheap in other countries, but it is being manipulated in the US. They limit supply, push up prices astronomically. Good old American health system.

There is no free market in this drug. Probably mostly manufactured in India, and they cut us off. Media and politicians won't be reporting this part of the story. Doesn't fit their crony corporatism agenda.

It's all the fault of nasty hoarders!

Nevada Governor Sisolak’s Chief Medical Officer Who Banned Hydroxychloroquine for Treating Coronavirus DOES NOT Have License to Practice Medicine

As reported last week — Nevada’s Governor Steve Sisolak (D) on Tuesday issued an emergency order barring the use of anti-malaria drugs such as chloroquine for Coronavirus patients.

In addition to barring the use of chloroquine for Coronavirus patients on Tuesday, Nevada’s governor also banned social gatherings of more than 10 people.

According to the governor’s order anyone who violates the order will be charged with at least a misdemeanor crime and it remains in place until April 16 (after Easter).

    But there’s more…
If you read the governor’s order he also prevented seniors from using chloroquine as a prophylactic to ward off the disease.

Governor Sisolak’s Chief Medical Officer of Nevada is named Ihsan Azzam and he is the one who advised Gov. Sisolak to make it illegal to prescribe hydroxychloroquine to COVID-19 victims.

Ihsan Azzam oversees public health surveillance, epidemiology and disease control activities in the state of Nevada.

But as reported in the Washington Times in 2018 — Ihsan Azzam does not have a license to practice medicine in the United States and yet he is dictating public health policy in Nevada!
Nevada’s top doctor isn’t licensed to practice medicine in the United States.

Ihsan Azzam testified in Las Vegas on Tuesday that he has a master’s degree and worked for several years in environmental public health and epidemiology before being named chief state medical officer last May.

Azzam says he practiced for several years as an obstetrics and gynecology physician in Africa before moving to the United States in the 1990s.

On Sunday night the FDA issued an emergency authorization for hydroxychloroquine to be prescribed to coronavirus patients.

It was first used as a malaria treatment - but is now more commonly prescribed for autoimmune inflammatory diseases like Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis, becoming almost the go-to drug for those afflictions. It's in short supply (ergo the desire of medical bureaucrats to ration it). The major supplier was in India, which about a week ago started banning the export of the drug.

Yep. The interesting thing I found out was that it been in short supply for years, while the price skyrocketed.

    Related article:

When I was diagnosed with lupus, it was one of the first medications the rheumatologist prescribed. My doctor discussed the potential side effects with me with most of them being quite manageable and tolerable. Additionally, regular eye examinations would be required to monitor toxicity levels and most important .... it was a cheap drug.
    ...
In 2016, I was forced to switch Health Insurance companies when my monthly premiums skyrocketed with Blue Cross Blue Shield to the point of pricing me out of the market. So I switched to another plan (still a PPO) that was more affordable. However, when I attempted to buy Plaquenil through my new federally sponsored health insurance plan (who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty), I was quoted $1,300.00 for a 90 day supply. Thirteen hundred dollars!!! That's insane!
    ...
As the cost/demand for Plaquenil has steadily risen over the years, the insurance and pharmaceutical companies have offered many explanations: lack of availability, fewer manufacturers, shipping costs, etc. None of them make any sense. My suggestion - perhaps is it because this medication has been targeted as an "arthritis drug" and deemed a source of huge profit margins for the drug companies? And at the expense, literally, of those of us who need it the most and have no other viable options.

Comparative advantage is an illusion when dealing with hostile communist states or corrupt third world caste states.

Been jumping up and down hollering about this for years now.

    We better learn this lesson.
