Paper silver closed at $13.16 today, gold $1507. Prices on the real stuff will be decided by the market.

Agree. The government is overstepping bounds in many areas, taking some excessive and not productive actions. Curfew? Really? Are there a lot of 70 year olds and chronically sick people out partying all night? In hindsight, they have stumbled on several issues (not part of the Liberty Report):

    - Testing has been an epic fail. Government incompetence on display.
    - Telling people to prepare like it’s a natural disaster. It created panic and crowded people together. Counterproductive. Helped spread the virus.
    - Announcing a travel ban from Europe without making it clear that US citizens can always come back. Once again, created panic and crowding. Counterproductive.

Flattening the infection curve was mentioned in the Liberty Report. That part was not the best moment. They compared it to economic crashes and clearing out the malinvestment. Get it over with quick. Comparing people to widgets has always been a pet peeve of mine, and this part made me cringe. The weak we are talking about weeding out are Grandpa and Grandma. Sure, from a purely economic perspective, there may be no better cost cutting measure than eliminating everyone on Social Security. But we are talking people, not widgets or malinvestment. And we have clearly seen the disaster that occurs when it is just left to “run its course” as it did in China and Italy. It is good to avoid a flood of patients that overwhelm hospitals. That would make the socialist death panels a reality, except instead of a panel, it’s left to someone at the hospital doing triage, and deciding who to save and who to let go.
