Clint Eastwood supported Trump in 2016 and now supports Bloomberg

    H/T Drudge Report.
Timing might be coincidence but ever since 2nd amend flip flop and recent Iraq military escalation against Iran, opposition from the Right/Hard Right seems to be growing against famous globalist conservative Adelson (America-Firster) funded wing of GOP. If this reporting is confirmed, Eastwood would join the growing list of other former supporters like GOA leaders, Coulter, Duke, Breitbart etc who have publicly expressed critical views about GOPA leader.
Bloomberg's recent harsh attack on the sitting POTUS using very disrespecful language seems to have made him a sudden focus of attacks from various current and past Dems while making him one of the leading contenders for nomination almost overnight.

    CLINT EASTWOOD FOR BLOOMBERG...

    A Hollywood Legend Talks Politics

Actor-director Clint Eastwood, 89, weighs in on Bloomberg, Trump, #MeToo and the dispute over a reporter’s depiction in his latest film.

    By Tunku Varadarajan
    Feb. 21, 2020

‘Many years ago,” Clint Eastwood says—drawing close to me as if to share a secret—“I was in Las Vegas.” The Hollywood actor and director was staying at a hotel owned by Steve Wynn, the casino billionaire. “Steve called me up in the room and said, ‘Do you want to go play golf? We’re going out with Trump.’ I said, ‘Who?’ and Steve said, ‘Trump. You know Trump?’ ”
So Messrs. Eastwood and Wynn ventured out for a morning on the course with Donald Trump. “It was funny,” Mr. Eastwood says, “because every time I was together with Steve”—with the future president out of earshot—“he would say, ‘You know, Trump is doing those damn casinos. He’s going to lose his ass.’ ” And when Mr. Wynn couldn’t hear, “Trump would say, ‘You know, Steve is going to do this big hotel. He’s going to land right on his ass. There are too many hotels now.’ ”

Back and forth the dissing went for hours, Mr. Eastwood recalls: “Together, they were great friends, but separately they were giving each other a hard time. I don’t know how much tongue-in-cheek was in all of that, but it was very amusing for me, the lone guy.”

Mr. Eastwood relates this story over a frugal lunch, in response to my asking for his thoughts on Mr. Trump. We’re seated outdoors at the Tehama Golf Club, which he owns, with views of Carmel Valley and the Monterey Peninsula, among the most expensive slivers of real estate in America.
Mr. Eastwood, 89, has never fought shy of politics himself. Like Mr. Trump, he’s even held political office, albeit on a local scale: He won election as mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea in 1986. He’s known as a Hollywood conservative, but his appeal was bipartisan. He chose to run, he says, because the incumbent mayor “had gotten to be too distant” from the townsfolk. “She used to knit during public meetings.”

Mr. Eastwood describes himself as a libertarian—“somebody who has respect for other people’s ideas and is willing to learn constantly.” He is, he says, always in “a state of evolution,” and he comes across in conversation as much more nuanced than the hypermasculine roles he’s played in films from “Dirty Harry” (1971) to “Gran Torino”
    ...
As for the domestic political scene, Mr. Eastwood seems disheartened. “The politics has gotten so ornery,” he says, hunching his shoulders in resignation. He approves of “certain things that Trump’s done” but wishes the president would act “in a more genteel way, without tweeting and calling people names. I would personally like for him to not bring himself to that level.” As he drives me back to my hotel, he expresses an affinity for another former mayor: “The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there.”(2008).

Clint might change his mind if Bloomberg imposes a nationwide ban on large soft-drinks.

Clint Eastwood is one of my favorite actors of all time!
I was not happy with him supporting McCain & Romney. He said he liked Ron Paul the most but he didn't endorse him.
Supporting Bloomberg is insane. Bloomberg is a Neocon Foreign Policy, anti 2nd amendment & he support 5 trillion in new Taxes.

Eastwood is making a big mistake with that kind of endorsement.

    In where?
    In the White House?
Or in the democratic nominee slot?

That's a pretty big difference, so which is it?
    One would actually support Bloomberg.
Or maybe he hates bloomberg and thinks Trump will destroy him in the elections and he wants to see that happen.

    Possible.

My POV is that Eastwood sees little difference in the two but Bloomberg is known to be more genteel and not publicly insulting to anyone who disagrees with him, so he's not as big an embarrassment as Trump can be.

Seriously? Bloomberg is a little dictator--just look what he did in NY. He pushing America towards tech tyranny. He insults people daily, especially the farmer.

Good work, Democrats! In the Las Vegas debate, you blasted every target but Donald Trump. Instead of quivering in his Gucci loafers, the man who would be king was left dancing on air.

The man who should have been king, newcomer Mike Bloomberg, was left looking like a beaten-up cigar store Indian. He had not prepped for the debate and failed to dodge the obvious incoming missile attacks on him launched by a hissing Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg.

Many veteran Republicans fear that TV promoter Trump will steamroll Warren, Buttigieg, Biden and Amy Klobuchar. They may be right. Trump had to be delighted by the no-prisoners Democratic debate that bloodied his opponents before he could even get to them. Bloomberg was totally unprepared for the savage attacks launched against him. He looked like a neophyte suffering from camera fright.
I got a good read on Bloomberg when I had an intimate dinner with him some years ago. Rather than the stiff, unsmiling man we saw on TV in Las Vegas, in real life Bloomberg is clearly brilliant yet understated, charming, and endowed with a sharp sense of humor and quick wit.

Bernie Sanders, who has three homes, blasted Bloomberg for being ‘rich.’ This is a big sin to the Democrats who, like Hillary Clinton, pocketed millions in political support from big banks, unions and businesses under the cover of night or via bogus speaking fees and her fake foundation – a scam emulated by Trump.

The deeply corrupt Democratic National Committee, controlled by Hillary Clinton, rigged the vote that blocked Bernie Sanders during the last election. When news of this scandal emerged, Hillary kicked off the anti-Russian hysteria to divert attention from her chicanery.

Yes, Bloomberg may be the 9th or 10th richest man in the world. But his net worth comes from ownership of one of our most successful and reliable financial news organizations that he built up from nothing, and that employs important numbers of men and women. The use of Bloomberg terminals saves forests of trees.

Ignore Elizabeth Warren’s cheap shots about women being called names like ‘horse-faced lesbians’ or ‘fat’ at his firm. Many men speak this way to one-another in casual talk. Women often do the same regarding men. The answer to this is to totally segregate the sexes, as in Saudi Arabia. Trying to whip up a war of the sexes is not going to make angry Elizabeth Warren president. She should stick to her commendable work with banking and voting rights.

It’s pretty clear after the shootout in Vegas that Joe Biden has used up his last chance. Black voters and unions won’t save him. He looked old and very tired. But not as tired or off the mark as Mike Bloomberg. By contrast Bernie looked old, to be sure, but was full of beans.

As a foreign affairs specialist, what really dismayed me was that there was only one significant mention of international policy. That’s when the abrasive, loud-mouthed Sen. Amy Klobuchar could not remember the name of the president of Mexico. For God’s sake, she on a senate committee that deals with Mexico.

While our presidential debate focuses on overweight women and health care, the US and Russia have come terrifyingly close to open war in the Mideast.

But barely any mention of this in the debates. Trump and his big money men from New York and Las Vegas are trying to push Iran into an air war. The US is seeking to overthrow the governments of Venezuela, Cuba, Syria, and Iran. Clashes between China and the US are a major danger. Former defense chief Sam Nunn warns the US and Russia are closer to a nuclear conflict than any time since the 1960’s Cuban missile crisis. No matter.

Americans want entertainers for their made-for-TV politicians. Poor, dignified Mr. Bloomberg didn’t know he would face professional actors, not legislators.

That or maybe he just supports Bloomberg now. He is a business man who made billions via the free market, he brought about some real reforms to NY albeit via the nanny state. Sometimes people just want real change for the better(what they believe to be better)

I guess. For some reason I thought Clint was a hard-liner on the 2nd Amendment.

Maybe read Bloomberg's full remarks- this was taken out of context by Trump/Bernie supporters to blast Bloomberg. And, NO, I am not a Bloomberg supporter. I just question everything.

The supporters of President Donald Trump and Sen. Bernie Sanders claim Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg insulted farmers in a 2016 video. The Bloomberg campaign says the video has been “taken completely out of context.”

There is definitely more to Bloomberg’s remarks than the 58-second video that has gone viral on Twitter, although we will leave it up to readers to decide https://www.factcheck.org/2020/02/bl...rs-in-context/ they have been taken out of context.

Then you need to do your due diligence and check out his record for yourself. Bloomberg, no more has a genteel mannerism than Bernie Sanders has genteel mannerism.

The man suffers from little man syndrome and his narcissistic tendencies seem to get in his way of being compassionate towards fellow human beings.

    Views on gun control
I don't hunt." Two years later, in 1975, Eastwood told People magazine that he favors "gun control to some degree." About a year later, Eastwood remarked that "All guns should be registered. I don't think legitimate gun owners would mind that kind of legislation.
He is more a fiscal conservative than anything else. Those types don't particularly care about gun issues with their politician .

Nothing like Trump. Donald Trump has a personality, compassion and a love for his country. Bloomberg loves himself, definitely loves the fact that he has made astronomical money off China and he loves to dictate to people. He is all for imposing taxes on people for climate change, he thinks guns should be taken away and he thinks most Americans are fat/unhealthy and should be taxed for being fat/unhealthy. He is an advocate of late term abortions and he is also for no medical treatment for people over a certain age.

Clint Eastwood Backs Mike Bloomberg for President

    https://www.breitbart.com/entertainm...for-president/

    John Nolte 22 Feb 2020

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, libertarian superstar Clint Eastwood said he’s backing Mike Bloomberg over Donald Trump.

“The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there,” said the two-time Best Director winner who famously endorsed Mitt Romney in 2012.

In a word, he’s uncomfortable with Trump’s temperament. He explained it this way…

I would personally like for him to not bring himself to that level.” As he drives me back to my hotel, he expresses an affinity for another former mayor: “The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there.”

So how do you square a libertarian like Eastwood backing a fascist nanny-stater like Bloomberg?

Well, here’s the thing… Deep down inside, the American people have a lot of faith in the American System. Let me explain…

In their infinite wisdom, the Founding Fathers created a system of government that makes change practically impossible. The president is not a dictator; he can only suggest laws to the legislature. The legislature can be vetoed by the president. The president and the legislature can both be overruled by the judiciary.

This was deliberate on the part of our Founders, who understood stability is the key to a lasting democracy.

Even people who don’t understand how the Constitution works instinctually understand that our government is stable because — well, the government is stable. We don’t have revolutions. Politicians roll in and out. Change is incremental.

This gives Eastwood the confidence to back the Tiny Tyrant, the luxury to look at something other than Bloomberg’s rabidly anti-libertarian background — and in this particular case, Clint is looking at temperament.

So Eastwood, the Hollywood legend who stood in front of the whole world to ridicule Precious Obama as an empty chair, is put off by Trump’s tweets, put off by his outbursts, petty feuds, and his trolling…. And the only reason I mention the empty chair is to remind people that Eastwood is fearless, which means no one can credibly claim he’s choosing Bloomberg to seek favor in Hollywood.

Clint Eastwood doesn’t care about those things. He’s Clint Eastwood, for crying out loud.

What’s more, he’s not the only person who feels this way.

Throughout the Trump Era, I’ve kept in touch with a half-dozen people — everyday folks, including my dad — and I regularly gauge their temperature about Trump.

What’s interesting about these people, is that like Eastwood, on paper you can’t imagine they would support anyone but Trump. Politically, they align perfectly…

Well, three of them do support Trump and will crawl over glass to vote for him in November.

Of those three, two backed Trump from the beginning and one is a convert who voted for Ted Cruz in the 2016 primary and abstained in the general election.

The remaining three break down this way…

One voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, hated Trump in 2016, hates him even more now.

One voted for Hillary, but likes what Trump has done for the country and is considering voting for him in 2020. But she hates his temperament.

One voted for Trump in 2016 but is open to supporting either Biden or Bloomberg because of Trump’s temperament.

So in my little focus group of six, Trump could lose two votes over his temperament… And let me tell you, these two people are no more of a snowflake than Clint Eastwood.

    I have a theory…

Based on his record, Trump should have a 55 percent job approval rating right now. Trump knows this, and he blames the fake news for shaving off those five to seven points.

Me? Well, I don’t believe the media have that kind of power anymore, so I think it’s more like half and half. The biased media are responsible for shaving off half of those points; Trump’s temperament is responsible for shaving off the other half.

Sorry, but Trump can be his own worst enemy.

I know there are times when he has to be unconventional and rabid, especially when the coup attempts are going on. But there are other times when he would serve himself better by being less exhausting and petty — by being normal where and whenever possible.

People like Eastwood and my dad are tired of the drama, the tension, the unforced errors; and while Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) are responsible for most of it, Trump is not blameless.

My dad is 81-years-old, blue collar to the bone, and always says the same thing: “He needs to stop tweeting.”

Well, I’ll crawl over glass to re-elect Trump, and I don’t think Trump should stop tweeting. But I do think that at times like these, when he’s on a winning streak, he could be more gracious and normal — so I get where my dad and Eastwood are coming from.

Bloomberg, Nov. 17, 2016: If you think about it, the agrarian society lasted 3,000 years, and we can teach processes. I can teach anybody – even people in this room, so no offense intended – to be a farmer. It’s a process. You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, you add water, up comes corn. You can learn that. Then you had 300 years of the industrial society. You put the piece of metal on the lathe, you turn the crank in direction of arrow and you can have a job. And we created a lot of jobs. At one point, 98% of the world worked in agriculture. Today it’s 2% of the United States.

Now comes the information economy and the information economy is fundamentally different because it’s built around replacing people with technology, and the skill sets that you have to learn are how to think and analyze. And that is a whole degree level different. You have to have a different skill set. You have to have a lot more gray matter. It’s not clear the teachers can teach or the students can learn. And so the challenge of society is to find jobs for these people. …
That's what I saw in the first video clip of his remarks, contrary to to what his campaign is saying.

And it remains as tone deaf and off-putting as when Biden says out of work miners should just "learn to code"...dismissing the people who keep you alive as mere feudal toilers rummaging about in filth. It's the same mindset that wants to put me in jail for keeping your lights on and your house warm, I suppose.

Politics aside, the man has the personal warmth and charm of C. Montgomery Burns...as I watched him get bitch slapped around by Warren, I was waiting for him to say "Release the hounds!"

AGAIN: I am NOT a supporter of Bloomberg. That said. Trump has also made mucho bucks off China, supports "take the guns first" and is dealing with Israel to further imprison the Palestinians & start a full-fledged war on Iran.

I was not presupposing what Eastwood was thinking. I was rephrasing Eric Margolis, who is one of the most trustworthy freedom journalists around. He was poking fun at all the dem candidates but mostly at Bloomberg's lack of readiness for the debate. He did say:

IIRC, Bloomberg did an interview that was essentially excusing and possibly admiring the Chinese way of governing. Not what you want to hear from a POTUS candidate. He wants to be Big Brother.

Probably another billionaire that wants to emulate the Chinese model:
