    Gun ban thread

I'm not trying to put the Virginia threads in here, but so many other states are jumping on this it needs a thread.

Georgia Democrats now attempting to ban ALL semi-automatic firearms, including self-defense pistols and rifles, as anti-gun mental illness spreads

For weeks we have been reporting on Virginia Democrats’ plans to implement a bevy of new gun control measures when they take over all lawmaking branches of their government this month.

But Democrats elsewhere are interested in further eroding the Second Amendment as well, including in Georgia.

As reported by The Truth About Guns, state Sen. Donzella James has filed SB 281, which would “prohibit the possession of automatic and semi-automatic guns,” regardless of make, model or the fact that these weapons are used so infrequently to commit crimes it is nearly statistically insignificant.

In addition, the bill includes other popular provisions among Democrat gun grabbers: A ban on ‘high capacity magazines’ (more than 10 rounds), and private sales at gun shows. And it would require “secure storage” of guns by dealers (as though gun stores around the state are lightly secured as it is).

According to the website, the language of the bill makes it clear that James and her staff have no idea how these kinds of firearms actually operate. That matters because once a bill passes into law, then that’s that — it will be enforced (on some level) as written, at least until confusing or otherwise unconstitutional provisions are successfully challenged in court. (Related: Virginia Dem proposes to create ‘ammo-free zones’ to go along with new gun control laws.)

New Mexico: Anti-Gun Lawmakers Gearing up for Session by Pre-Filing Gun Control Bills
Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- While the New Mexico Legislature won’t convene until next week, anti-gun legislators have already pre-filed multiple gun control bills, including “Red Flag” gun confiscation laws and bans on popular firearm accessories.

House Bill 7 / Senate Bill 5 – Sponsored by Rep. Daymon Ely and Senator Joseph Cervantes, these bills would authorize the seizure of firearms and/or ammunition from individuals without due process. Unchallenged statements made by a petitioner before a judge, alleging that someone is a danger to themselves or others in an ex parte proceeding — prior to any formal court hearing at which the respondent can be represented by counsel and present counter-evidence — would be sufficient for law enforcement to enter that person's home and confiscate their private property.

Constitutional rights should only be restricted with sufficient due process of law. Due process limits restrictions on constitutional rights to only serious convictions and adjudications that provide procedural protections to the accused, which results in more reliable proceedings. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms should not be treated as a second-class right and should only be restricted when sufficient protections are in place.

House Bill 85 – Sponsored by Rep. Patricia Roybal Caballero, HB 85 was introduced with the intent to ban possession of a “semiautomatic firearm converter.” However, the bill is so poorly written it would potentially ban normal and legal firearm accessories like match triggers and many ergonomic modifications. The vague language could lead to the banning of virtually any performance-enhancing product for a semi-automatic firearm, and ultimately threaten the legality of semi-automatic firearms themselves. Further, those who possess any of the mentioned items would become felons overnight.

Red Flag Nation: Anti-Gun Laws, Sanctuary Cities and the Second Amendment

    We never learn.

In the right (or wrong) hands, benevolent plans can easily be put to malevolent purposes.

Even the most well-intentioned government law or program can be—and has been—perverted, corrupted and used to advance illegitimate purposes once profit and power are added to the equation.

The war on terror, the war on drugs, the war on illegal immigration, asset forfeiture schemes, road safety schemes, school safety schemes, eminent domain: all of these programs started out as legitimate responses to pressing concerns and have since become weapons of compliance and control in the police state’s hands.

Mark my words: gun control legislation, especially in the form of red flag gun laws, which allow the police to remove guns from people suspected of being threats, will only add to the government’s power.

These laws, growing in popularity as a legislative means by which to seize guns from individuals viewed as a danger to themselves or others, are yet another Trojan Horse, a stealth maneuver by the police state to gain greater power over an unsuspecting and largely gullible populace.

Seventeen states now have red flag laws on their books. - https://www.pewtrusts.org/en/researc...er-due-process

    That number is growing.

As The Washington Post reports, these laws “allow a family member, roommate, beau, law enforcement officer or any type of medical professional to file a petition [with a court] asking that a person’s home be temporarily cleared of firearms. It doesn’t require a mental-health diagnosis or an arrest.”

In the midst of what feels like an epidemic of mass shootings (the statistics suggest otherwise), these gun confiscation laws—extreme risk protection order (ERPO) laws—may appease the fears of those who believe that fewer guns in the hands of the general populace will make our society safer.

Of course, it doesn’t always work that way.

Anything—knives, vehicles, planes, pressure cookers—can become a weapon when wielded with deadly intentions.

With these red flag gun laws, the stated intention is to disarm individuals who are potential threats… to “stop dangerous people before they act.”

While in theory it appears perfectly reasonable to want to disarm individuals who are clearly suicidal and/or pose an “immediate danger” to themselves or others, where the problem arises is when you put the power to determine who is a potential danger in the hands of government agencies, the courts and the police.

We’ve been down this road before.

Remember, this is the same government that uses the words “anti-government,” “extremist” and “terrorist” interchangeably.

This is the same government whose agents are spinning a sticky spider-web of threat assessments, behavioral sensing warnings, flagged “words,” and “suspicious” activity reports using automated eyes and ears, social media, behavior sensing software, and citizen spies to identify potential threats.

This is the same government that keeps re-upping the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which allows the military to detain American citizens with no access to friends, family or the courts if the government believes them to be a threat.

This is the same government that has a growing list—shared with fusion centers and law enforcement agencies—of ideologies, behaviors, affiliations and other characteristics that could flag someone as suspicious and result in their being labeled potential enemies of the state.

NHFC: New Hampshire's Only No Compromise Gun Rights Organization

    Dear AF

There are 4 anti-gun bill hearings next week and we need your help to stop these bills!

    1/21: HB1660, 1pm, "Elder Care Gun Confiscation."
1/22: HB1101, 1pm, "Buy a Gun, Go Home Without it."
HB1379, 2:30pm, "The Gun Registry Creation Act."
1/23: SB469, 10am, "The 2020 Sen. Jeanne Dietsch Range Closure Act."

During the past week, a number of our members contacted us regarding SB469, so we are highlighting that bill in this alert. The other bills are equally as bad and in need of just as much effort to stop them. If you want to help NHFC, on future alerts, or on graphics, please contact us through our contact tab.

Do you like going to the range to practice your skills?

Well, Senator Jeanne Dietsch wants to change that. She has introduced her namesake bill, the "Sen. Jeanne Dietsch Range Closure Act" and if she gets her way, you might lose your place to practice.
On 23 Jan 2020, at the Concord NH State House, Room 100, at 10:00 am, there will be a hearing on a critical Senate Bill that impacts all NH firearms owners. This bill, SB 469, proposes to allow legal action against, and closure of firing ranges that have been in existence for decades and legally grandfathered into continued operation through existing law under RSA 159-B. This statute recognizes the ability of firearms ranges that are legally operating to continue to do so after neighborhood expansion places housing near the existing ranges.

The new bill, SB 469 "Sen. Jeanne Dietsch Range Closure Act" which is proposed to REPEAL the good protections under the existing law in RSA 159-B, and replace those with new burdens for the gun ranges. This eliminates the protective provisions which have been the law in NH for decades putting all of our ranges in danger.

It is totally unacceptable that people building a residence near a long-time, existing and legal firing range should expect that their concerns about "noise" should trump the legal right of the range's operation.

SB 469, as proposed, replaces the existing law in RSA 159-B which provides for the grandfathering-in of shooting ranges that were established and legally operating prior to any restrictions on noise. The new language provides for new noise ordinances to be imposed on existing and long-standing ranges because of urban sprawl where people not familiar with or friendly to firearms have moved into residences where they can hear the sound of firearms being discharged at firing ranges. These people might have thought to do some research prior to purchasing/building a residence in proximity to a firing range. There is NO quantitative definition of "noise" in the bill, meaning that it is unenforceable. Is it average noise? Peak noise? At what level and by what dB scale is it measured? Where is it measured? A law with this level of ambiguity is not passable.

To make matters worse, we were just informed that one NH range was recently issued a complaint by someone who lives over 1.5 miles away over NOISE...

Further, SB 469 proposes to limit the rate of fire to one round every two seconds. In addition to preventing two people from shooting the same type of firearm at the same time, most law enforcement and civilian firearms users practice double taps, which by definition fire two rounds in less than two seconds. There should be no limit on our ability to effectively train and practice this effective self-defense method.

People of NH - NOW is the time to act! We need to push back and end these anti-2A bills that keep coming in front of us. Contact your representatives, show up at the State House to voice your opposition. We don't want to become New Jersey or look like Virginia given all that is going on there.....

Please contact the Senate members here and send them this letter explaining why this bill needs to be defeated:

    Dear Senator:

I am asking that you vote SB469 Inexpedient to Legislate. SB469, the "Sen. I'm pretty sure the Bolshies have figured that out.

They'll arrest a few of us refuseniks here and there, just to make a show of it and throw the book at them to make examples of them, to keep everybody else's head down.

They'll wait as we die off, give it twenty, thirty years, maybe less given the attention span of Idiot AmeriKa and poof, mission accomplished.

Guns, at least in citizens hands, will de facto be things of the past.

If proactive measure are not taken now, secession and government level non compliance (2nd A "sanctuaries" with teeth), then it's game over.

And that's where so many anarchists go wrong.
The American revolution was a colonial/local government revolution, individuals (even millions of individuals) don't stand a chance against organized groups unless they form their own organized groups.

The militia movement got crushed to a great degree and the 2ndA sanctuary movement is the best hope we have at this point.

I can see it now, those that will do it so proudly that as they hand them over will genuflect and thank them for their service. "I know you are only just doing your job." with a level of cop ass kissing it is nauseating to see and hear.

Then both the police and residents will go on Facebook to post pictures of all involved proudly and happily making the transaction. The residents will say how great the cop was with almost tears in their eyes as if they were honored by some god like creature. A few people will call these dopes out on social media but they will get overwhelmingly bashed for doing so to later find their posts deleted and/or accounts banned. News media at all levels will do the same.

Before some says something about good cops - those that will not abide, what 1% of cops? They care more about their mortgages, their status among their own (blue family-wall) and being favored in political circles than 2A, the Constitution or the oath they took.
