I think the party as a whole long ago abandoned those principles. Groups like the TEA Party and the Freedom Caucus gave us some hope, but they sold out.

bigger government and erosion of the principles and values they once claimed to cherish
I fail to see how the Democrat impeachment of Trump on pretty much nothing addresses the size or scope of government.

Was there an impeachment article about Trump violating the Constitution on the basis of signing the NDAA or an omnibus budget? The continuing unconstitutional wars? Now those might have some ramifications in the future.

Certainly an outrage! But it was created by Congressional leadership, and passed by Congress. It would be great to have a President Paul who would veto it, but Trump ain’t a Paul.

Such a perfect forum for making excuses for the not a Paul, while ignoring constant attacks on the closest thing to Ron Paul the House has.

Saying that Trump is not a Paul is now “making excuses” for Trump?

    1. LOL

    2. Aren't you contradicting your own narrative about the GOP?

    3. On a high profile issue like this, the vote of every member of Congress is pure posturing.

    4. Justin Amash did all that all by himself, did he? And how did he do it? By voting against party? Isn't that why he left the party? So all the Senate RINOs that vote the same way will have to leave the party too? Which means Amash is single handedly clearing the Senate of RINOs, right? Shouldn't he be getting a medal for that?

    5. LOLOL

    6. Could you lay off making those slurping noises please? It's disgusting.

Not at all, there are enough RINOs and Neocons infesting the party to get to a 2/3rds vote in the Senate.

Amash gave this farce of an impeachment "conservative" and "Constitutional" cover by a "Republican", that makes it much easier for the Neocons to defend a vote against Trump if he doesn't do what they want.

Agreed. Thinking Amash made all them do it or caused it all or is a major reason is absurd.

Even Chris Christie could stand up to his legislature. He just said something like he was going to back to the governor's mansion and watch baseball until they put together a deal he would sign.

Trump caved immediately, but promised he would never sign another one, and yet he did. But his supporters don't seem to place any responsibility at all on him.

Hmmm. I think I know now why there was not much talk at all about vetoing this latest budget...

The two halves of the Omnibus bill just passed with veto proof majorities.

So why was he bragging about all the goodies in it and pronouncing it bigly? Was that necessary? He didn't even need to sign a bill that had enough support to be passed over his veto, much less brag about it.

You'd think someone being impeached by that same body wouldn't mind making them take a moment out of their busy shenanigan schedule to override his veto. Unless you're just looking for excuses to make.

Yes, this is Thomas not holding the President accountable. And he's not just ignoring the issue, but actively providing political cover for Trump with his constituents.

It's disingenuous to conflate a super-majority vote for a spending bill they knew Trump would sign into law with a vote to override a Presidential veto.
