What makes you think that Thomas does not hold Trump “accountable”? And how exactly does a member of Congress hold Trump “accountable”?

Because he makes excuses for Trump when bad bills are signed into law instead of telling his constituents that the President is breaking his promises.

I haven’t seen him make excuses for Trump. He points out vote counts, and gives out links to how Congress voted. That is not making excuses for Trump.

Is tweeting somehow “holding accountable”? Is lack of tweeting “making excuses”? That’s quite a conclusion to jump to. Is Massie making excuses for Pelosi, McCarthy, McConnell and Schumer if he doesn’t tweet about them? Tweeting doesn’t hold anyone accountable.

But if you like, here is Massie commenting on the entire thing.

Yes, speaking, tweeting--same thing. Ron Paul frequently spoke out against both parties--never made excuses for either. But Massie says Trump actually signing it into law doesn't matter because it passed with a veto proof majority:

A super majority vote to approve a spending bill congress knows the president will sign is completely different than a vote to override a veto. Thomas rightfully calls out congressmen outside of his district, but won't dare call out the President on fundamental issues. I don't expect him to take the same approach as Ron Paul did or be like Justin Amash, but actually making excuses for Trump is surprising and troubling.

Massie is perfectly clear speaking out about these issues. And like Ron Paul, he speaks more about issues and principles, and less about calling out individuals. The blame for this lies directly on Congressional leadership, but Massie doesn’t need to call out the individuals. Sure, it would be nice for a President to veto it and force them to override it, but I doubt anyone was expecting Trump to do that. Blaming that on Massie is barking up the wrong tree.
