    Amash Statement at Impeachment Debate

    Partial quote:

Thank you madam speaker I rise today in support of these articles of impeachment.
    ...
President Donald J Trump has abused and violated the public trust by using his high office to solicit the aid of a foreign power, not for the benefit of the United States of America, but instead for his personal and political gain. His actions reflect precisely the type of conduct the framers of the Constitution intended to remedy through the power of impeachment and it is our duty to impeach him.

He said the House has the sole power of impeachment. He quoted Alexander Hamilton who wrote about violating the public trust.

See the end of his statement in OP above.

Amash is wrong. Investigating the crimes of Joe Biden is for the benefit of the United States of America.

Joe Biden is not running against Donald Trump. Biden is running against Sander, Warren and 20 other Democrats. Biden doesn't have the opportunity to run against Trump unless he first wins the nomination of the Democrat party.

Steny Hoyer spoke a bit about Amash during his grand summary speech. Used several past quotes from Amash, touted it as non-partisan support for impeachment.

This whole impeachment thing is ridiculous. But if Justin can utilize it while at the WH, whatever whatever.

Perhaps Justin will appeal to the disenfranchised republicans, and democrats in his demographic, as Ron Paul has repeatedly suggested. It is not left versus right, after all, it is liberty versus tyranny.

    Cumulative Freedom Index Score: 94%

Anyway, for you to cut Justin down the way that you do, well, that speaks more than volumes. More than entire libraries. In fact, more than... more than a bucket of hot wings!

Your cutoff point is +/- 50%. My cutoff point is 90%.

I will continue supporting 94% Justin until his score drops below 90%.

I would respect Amash or any other member of congress that would recommend impeaching Trump on the horrible things that he's done rather than the fictitious things that he hasn't.

Trump should be impeached for not stopping the hoards of illegal invaders.

He should also be impeached for his attack and continued occupation of Syria to include the continued support for ISIS, etc.
I can guarantee with 100% certainty Ron Paul is in favor of whatever you want to call slave labor...... He is in favor of sweat shops (as are 100% of free market economists). Krugminator2

If someone called for Trump's impeachment on actual Constitutional grounds I would respect them even if I disagreed for practical reasons.

P.S. Trump is doing a whole lot to stop the invasion and is limited by idiotic laws and tyrannical court rulings.

Agreed on impeachment for Constitutional reasons.

Trump doesn't have the stomach or the balls for a Constitutional check on the judiciary.

Maybe it is part of the 4D strategy.

To be fair, Amash used very dignified language and tone on the floor of Congress today; that speech should be a model for all sides while emotions are high.

I can understand a desire to hold someone, anyone, finally accountable in the highest levels. It almost never happens. Too many examples to list.

On the other hand, this is the most trivial, non-crime that is being impeached. So trivial that it is actually another example of abuse of power by the majority party in the House, and an excessive, terrible, one at that. Abusing power to supposedly punish abuse of power?

Additionally, Amash has always prided himself on being non-partisan, to the point of being fanatically anti-partisan. Yet he has signed on with the most blatant, most extreme, most partisan-driven vote in the history of the US. Seems contradictory.

Elected people do "partisan" things all the time.

But defense in Congress today from various Congress members who were defending Adelsons funded GOP POTUS...' Speaker Pelosi cannot undo election of a President who was elected by the people' seems hollow if if they used more accurate language like 'Conressional representatives' majority elected by the people impeached a Prez who was elected by the people'.
Clinton was also impeached in a partisan way, it is same story always in Congress.
