Earlier we brought you some pictures of Boris Johnson doing a milk round in west Yorkshire. Another one to add to the "odd election activities" list

    A
nyway, he's since been speaking to reporters, where he says the election "could not be tighter", with a "real risk" of another hung Parliament.

Mr Johnson says the Conservatives are "fighting for every vote".
“We cannot have more drift, more dither, more delay, more paralysis for this country," he says, adding that Labour's policies would be an "economic disaster".

"We have got to move forward. We have a fantastic agenda for the country, we can get Brexit done. We've got a deal that's ready to go”.

A senior member of Britain's opposition Labour Party has dismissed the chances of the party winning power in Thursday's general election, speaking in a private conversation leaked to the Guido Fawkes news website. The Labour Party are trailing Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservative Party in opinion polls ahead of the election which will decide the fate of Brexit and the ideology that underpins the world's fifth-largest economy.
Labour's health spokesman Jon Ashworth said in the recordings that the situation in seats outside cities was "abysmal", blaming the party's Brexit policy and voters' perception of leader Jeremy Corbyn.
"I just can't see it happening," Ashworth said, when asked how to prepare for Corbyn becoming prime minister. The recording appears to have been made before last week's visit by U.S. President Donald Trump.
"Outside of the city seats, if you're in small-town Midlands and the North, it's abysmal out there. They don't like Johnson, but they can't stand Corbyn and they think Labour's blocked Brexit."

    Who are the newspapers backing?

    Conservative

Daily Express: “So let’s put Boris behind the wheel, rev up the engine for Brexit Britain and power ahead to prosperity instead.”

Daily Mail: “[Boris is] promising to ‘Get Brexit Done’, then deliver a moderate, One Nation Conservative prospectus with increases in funding for public services.”

Evening Standard: “Vote for Boris — Corbyn is unfit to lead Britain”

The Sun: “vote for Boris Johnson’s Conservatives, get Brexit over the line in January, finally defeat the Remain and second referendum campaigns and move on with our lives.”

The Telegraph: “Business is waiting to invest; much of the public wants to get on with developing the post-Brexit economy. The only way to do all this is by returning a Conservative majority.”

The Times: “The country faces a choice between a party that can deliver Brexit and one that will deliver economic mayhem. For that reason The Times supports the Conservatives”

Sunday Express: “Vote Tory if you really want to get Brexit done”

Sun on Sunday: “Only Boris Johnson can stop Marxist Jeremy Corbyn leaving the Britain we love in ruins”

Sunday Telegraph: “Vote Conservative to say ‘yes’ to Brexit and to reject Labour’s politics of hate”

Sunday Times: “Keep Mr Corbyn out at all costs. So vote Conservative”

Spectator: “Never in our country’s modern history has it been more important to vote — and vote Conservative.”

    Labour

Daily Mirror: “it’s time to show Boris the boot and bring Labour back into power”

Morning Star: “A Labour victory on December 12 means Christmas has come early. A Labour government is a gift we give to ourselves.”

The Guardian: “The mood may be one of despair, but this election is critical to the country’s future. The best hope lies with Labour, despite its flaws”

Sunday Mirror: “Labour’s policies offer an alternative to despair, division and dysfunction.”

    Lib Dem

Economist: “they are the only choice for anyone who rejects both the hard Brexit of the Conservatives and the hard-left plans of Labour.”

    Other

Financial Times: “To those candidates who share (internationalist, pro business and pro Europe) values – and are ready to fight for them – the FT lends its wholehearted support.”

The Independent: “Tactical voting could still put the brakes on populism”

The Observer: “After a tawdry campaign of lies and racism, the choice is clear – anyone but Johnson”

    None of the above

The i: “The media won’t decide this election – you decide”

New Statesman: “we have resolved to endorse no party at this general election. As a publication that is beholden to no party or faction, that defends the intellectual traditions of scepticism, independence of thought, the spirit of criticism and a willingness to debate, we believe that voters deserve better”

A welcome BOOST for Nigel Farage. He is polling well in tossup districts.

Labour and the Tories are neck and neck in DOZENS of Leave-voting seats where the Brexit Party has surged, poll reveals as Nigel Farage prays for SNOW to boost his chances

Nigel Farage could scupper Boris Johnson's hopes of winning a majority at the general election tomorrow with Labour and the Tories neck and neck in dozens of seats.

A new YouGov survey showed there are 85 constituencies where the leading party is ahead by five per cent or less which means the result is on a knife edge.

And in many of those seats the Brexit Party is standing a candidate, with Tories concerned that could be enough to split the Leave vote and allow a Labour victory.

Meanwhile, Mr Farage said today that he is hoping for snow or heavy rain on polling day tomorrow in order to boost his party's chances of winning seats.

He believes his supporters 'absolutely believe in our message' and would not be deterred by bad weather whereas people who are less committed to backing the Tories or Labour might not bother to vote.

The YouGov poll suggested that the Tories are on course to end up with a 28 seat majority, potentially finishing with 339 MPs to Labour's 231.

But the margin for error on the survey means the Tories could finish between 311 seats - not enough for a majority - and 367.

Mr Farage's comments came as all the leaders of the main political parties embarked on their final campaign stops before the election.

But Mr Johnson's day got off to a disastrous start after he refused to do an interview with ITV's Good Morning Britain programme and one of his aides swore on live television.

Farage's Brexit Party was polling as high as ten percent, but recent polls have them below three percent.

They are all a bunch of phonies. Farage just likes to hear himself talk and Johnson and Corbyn will say or promise anything to get elected. Johnson has been on both sides of the Brexit issue- he was against it just two years ago. They all have long lists of things they promise to spend more money on. Corbyn wants to nationalize utilities, Johnson wants to spend $700 million on youth soccer, and more for police, health services, roads. Farage wants free broadband internet and free loans for school.

What about the LibDems? They're the only party promising to cancel Brexit. I thought that might appeal to you.

Looks like more delays on that issue: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-a9242346.html

Brexit will not get done by 2021, EU chief negotiator admits in leaked recording that blows hole in Boris Johnson promise

Brexit trade negotiations cannot be finished in the timeframe claimed by Boris Johnson, the EU’s chief negotiator has privately admitted – blowing a hole in the prime minister’s big election promise to “get Brexit done”.

In a leaked recording obtained by The Independent, Michel Barnier tells a private meeting that the UK’s 11-month timetable to wrap up trade talks by 2021 is “unrealistic” and suggests negotiations will drag on until long after the end of next year.

“With regards to this agreement, we will not get everything done in 11 months. We will do all we can – we won’t do it all,” Mr Barnier can be heard telling a group of senior MEPs at the closed meeting in the EU capital this week.

The recording sparked consternation from Mr Johnson’s critics back in the UK, with the prime minister accused of “lying to voters” about Brexit and “playing the British public for fools”.

Mr Barnier, who was recently reappointed to lead the next round of Brexit talks for the EU side, told the meeting: “It is unrealistic that a global negotiation can be done in 11 months, so we can’t do it all. We will do all we can to get what I call the ‘vital minimum’ to establish a relationship with the UK if that is the time scale.”

He added that without a further extension of EU rules and regulations to Britain of one or two years there would be another “cliff edge” that could see Britain crash out on World Trade Organisation rules.

“If there is no extension, we will still have a few months to achieve what I would describe as the minimum necessary for the economy and security or to prepare for a cliff edge,” the chief negotiator said – adding that the decision would have to be taken by the government in June, just over six months from now.

“Either we have a trade agreement or we will be in the WTO framework. We can’t take contingency measures on trade to give us more time … If there’s no deal, it is a cliff edge for trade.”

The revelations will trouble voters thinking of supporting Mr Johnson’s Conservatives on Thursday on the basis that the party would “get Brexit done” and put the divisive issue in the country’s rear-view mirror.

Far from ending the saga, the tape shows that EU officials are planning for contentious talks to stretch on for years in much the same vein as they have since 2016.

On Wednesday, giving his final address to voters, Mr Johnson said he would “deliver on the result of three years ago and then move on, focus on the people’s priorities”.

He claimed that arguments about Brexit would end by February – when the new round of talks would just be starting – and that the government would be able to “focus on the issues that matter to you”.

What's that got to do with the LibDems Zippy? As I said LibDems are the only party that wants to cancel Brexit entirely so I thought that would appeal to you.

As you might guess i'm rooting for Nigel and the Brexit Party. I hope they can win some seats (against the odds).

Johnson will never be able to get any deal which could pass through Parliament (nobody can)-even assuming he reaches one with the EU (also a long shot at this point) . That will mean default WTO tariffs on UK exports and imports. That will hurt the UK which is teetering on a recession already. Don't like the Liberal Democrats but don't favor Brexit either. Nigel just likes stirring the pot and doesn't really care what happens. All he cares about is getting his face on TV.

DAILY MAIL COMMENT: Your vote has never been more vital. Today, you MUST brave the deluge to go to your local polling station and back... Boris Johnson

Whatever else the experts have predicted for today, one thing is certain: It’s going to be cold, windy, damp and dark by mid-afternoon.

For many disheartened by the prospect of trudging to the ballot box, the temptation will be to stay at home, keep warm and pour a nice cup of tea (or maybe something stronger).

In truth, the Mail has every sympathy with that urge.

But this is not a normal election.

It is a monumental fight for the very future – indeed, the very soul – of our great country.

It is a choice between a liberal One Nation free market capitalist who is determined to unleash the whole UK’s potential to bring about prosperity.

And a kleptocratic, anti-Semitic, anti-Western socialist who would bring Britain to its knees, leaving it crippled with debt, mass unemployment and crumbling public services – just like his beloved Venezuela.

Sensible voters should be deeply troubled about the fate of their homes, children and jobs if Britain inadvertently sleepwalks into a horror show led by Kremlin apologist Jeremy Corbyn at the expense of Tory leader Boris Johnson. Even senior Labour candidates agree their man is patently unfit for the highest office.
    ##
Yet the polls teeter on a knife-edge. After six weeks of battle buses criss-crossing the country, the Tories are forecast a 28-seat majority.

But the polling stations don’t close until 10pm – and a tiny proportion of votes could dramatically change the political landscape. That’s why your vote has never been more vital. More than at any election since the War, you can help shape the country’s future for the better.

We understand the weather forecast is bleak. But wrap up warm, grab an umbrella and go to mark your cross. With so many black stains against Mr Corbyn’s name, it’s frankly baffling anyone can contemplate voting for him.

During this long, dispiriting election campaign, the Labour leader has peddled his sweeping vision of a socialist paradise.

But like a hard-Left Pied Piper, he has entranced his guileless followers (and earnestly attempted to persuade normally prudent floating voters) into believing that Labour would not be a quick road to economic ruin.

Instead, the Great Bearded Leader duplicitously insists, only rapacious, exploitative companies and the rich –the few, not the many – would fund his extravagant £1.2trillion-plus spending promises.

That’s unalloyed nonsense. Today, we report how the chairman of one of Britain’s biggest blue-chip companies says Mr Corbyn will decimate pensions if he wins the keys to No10. Paul Walsh says millions of workers, many on modest incomes, will see thousands of pounds wiped off their pension pots’ values by Labour’s economically innumerate madness.

Put another way, ordinary workers would need to toil an extra three years before retiring. Meanwhile, the truly wealthy would beat a hasty retreat from Britain, taking with them jobs, investment and their taxes – leaving a yawning chasm in Labour’s figures.

Of course, Mr Corbyn can’t win outright. But a vote for anyone but the Conservatives is a vote for a chaotic hung parliament with the terrorism sympathiser as Prime Minister – propped up by the Union-loathing SNP .

Remainers may be furious about Europe. But are they so blinded by Brexit hatred that they believe leaving the EU would be worse than the economic catastrophe inflicted by the Marxist rabble?

And anyone seduced by the Brexit Party should also search their conscience. For all they can do is split the Leave vote – scuppering the Tories’ chances in important target seats.

That would leave a Remain coalition running the country – and, be assured, killing off Brexit.

Giving Boris a decent majority will get Brexit done, ending years of paralysis, and allowing him to bring his impressive enthusiasm to bear on other issues that Mail readers care about: Housing, education, the NHS and safer streets.

During last night’s eve-of-poll rally in London, Boris promised to ‘bring this country back together again’.

He said: ‘A great future is there within our grasp. Even if you have never voted Conservative before, this is your chance to be heard and I promise I will not let you down.’

The Mail believes he is the right man to lead Britain into the 2020s.

The alternative is almost too grim to contemplate.

For our country’s future prosperity and security, Boris is the only intelligent choice. It’s imperative you pull on your waterproofs and do your bit.

This is quite an epic result. Boris has pulled it off. This is the biggest results for the Conservatives since Thatcher in 1987.

Corbyn lost 71 seats. It's Labour's worst result since 1935. Corbyn is gone. Marxism has been rejected.

The chairman of the Brexit Party Richard Tice is standing in Hartlepool. Sky have a reporter there so they must think it's going to be close between him and the Labour candidate. I think he said the result will be in around 3am GMT. Tune in!

It's too bad they didn't poach at least a few labor seats but with the majority BJ got he would be able to ignore them anyway.

Farage is toast unless BJ totally sells out on BREXIT.

I assume UKIP got no seats too, they need to be the future of the UK or it won't exist in a few decades, "There Will Always Be an England" is far from certain.

Brexit Party got 15% in a Labour stronghold in Sunderland and the tories got 32%. Damn, they split the vote. Labour wins with a majority of 3,000
