GOP looks to block 2020 Democrats from Senate impeachment trial

    Nice.

Their vote would be the definition of election influence.

"Congressional Republicans want to require Senate Democrats running for president to recuse themselves from a possible impeachment trial against President Trump, saying the trial would mix impeachment with their political aspirations.

The five Democratic presidential hopefuls in the Senate would serve as jurors in Mr. Trump’s impeachment trial and have an inherent conflict of interest, said Rep. Jason Smith, a Missouri Republican pushing a resolution that calls on the Senate to amend its rules to require their recusal.

“No senator should participate in this trial when they are able to abuse their power in the U.S. Senate by attempting to remove their political opponent and help their own political ambitions,” Mr. Smith said."

All Demoncrats should have to recuse because it is an election year, that's only fair considering that they claim Trump can't investigate Biden's crimes because Biden is running for office.

Seems like a pointless effort. They won't get it passed. Will Senate dems voluntarily recuse? meh...

Right after the initial hearing began, I saw democrats already adopting the talking point, "impeachment is constitutional, not a court of justice", thats when they realized it was a sham.

Not pointless. The Dems went after Trump because they fear losing to him and so came up with an "election interference" allegation.

As all Progressives do they project what they are themselves guilty of. These impeachment hearings, and now charges, are nothing more than election interference.
