Pictures of my trip to the Philippines

Our flight was delayed because of the typhoon, so I'm posting a few photos. It was bittersweet because we were there for my mother-in-law's funeral.

This is the mountain across from my mother-in-law's house. You can see coconut trees in both the foreground and the ridge.

Pics before one of our many feasts. Most of these people are relatives.

Standing left, two of my dozens of nieces.
Sitting right, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law

Niece who helped my wife with all the logistics of shipping the body and the funeral.

    Food, food, and more food!

    My brother-in-law and his daughter.

Another niece. Yep, all girls ride motorcycles.

The big tree behind is The Mango Tree. It's a meeting point of reference where the road bends. It's so famous that it matches Waiting Shade Tree in town.

    More photos later......

The Philippines are quite an interesting place.

    Celebration of life, eh?

Don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows

Man! Nothing taste more heavenly than a fresh philippino mango. What is sold as mangoes here in the states are abominations.

Casket inside mother-in-law's house. She was there many days for viewing. Funerals are very different from America.

Chapel of larger church. This one is an 1/8 mile from mother-in-law's (MIL) house.

    Sister-in-law, 3rd from left. MIL's sister, 3rd from right.

MIL pic from our wedding a few years back.

One of my nephews. My wife cut his hair and gave him a Gillette razor. These people get ecstatic with the smallest of gifts.

    Another niece.

99 year old aunt. Turns 100 next February 12. She is the lone surviving sibling of my father-in-law.

People hanging out at The Mango Tree. Mother-in-law's house in background.

    Future ham sandwiches.

We have a zillion kid relatives and swimming is the best bang for the peso.

On the other hand, some of it really is crappy living. It's a mixed bag.

Photos from a few years back. People on the bench.

Our wedding. I just noticed no else is smiling.

    Main road.

Okay, they really don't eat ham sandwiches because bread is not big. But pork is really popular.

Unless you can stretch out over 3 seats, the flight is torture.

I had a picture of my mother in law getting her first taste of snow, so will have to find that one. This one is looking off our back porch.

She makes a new Filipino friend at our friend's North Carolina house. I call that stone "The Rock!"

People hanging at her house back home.

She stayed behind at our cool hotel when we went to the Darlington race. She wasn't too interested because racing is harder to follow than you think, but maybe later she wanted to go. :-(

My aunt reached her 100th birthday. Woo hoo!

Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention hospice. They helped us so much in so many ways. Their foundation and giving nature of the benefactors is incredible. Thank you, hospice!!!!!!

I might make a thread on hospice alone to get others' thoughts. What an incredible and outstanding organization!!!!
