    The patent system is FUBAR.

    At this point, it may serve less to encourage innovation than to stifle it, through "patent trolling" and so forth.

    The same is true of copyright.

    Patents have the most value in the hands of big companies. It gives you the right to attack your competitor who makes commercial use of your patented technology.
