I think playing badly the past 45 minutes have put muh Hoosiers at the make or break point . We are 4 -4 against top 25 teams , see two more in Feb and another in March. Margin of error has been used ( 15 - 6 , lost past two ) . We also have 7 games remaining against teams just below us in Big Ten standings . We need to get those and start a run .

Terrible game. Went five minutes without a point in the first half and were down by twelve at the break. Fought back in the second half but not enough- lost 68- 72. I think altitude plays a big factor for Colorado- but not in the way most people may think- conditioning. The thinner air lets the ball travel farther at altitude so when teams play there, their shots are a bit off and when Colorado plays on the road, they are short. You can adjust your aim and get better as the game goes on but sometimes it is too late you are too far behind. Just speculation.

At USC Saturday. USC is now a half a game behind Oregon and we are a game behind them.

After losing the one we should have won, Colorado won the game I expected to lose- at USC who was a game ahead of us in the Pac 12 and at their house. Beat them by 19 points- 78- 57 which should help keep us in the Top 25. Losing two games in a week would have dropped us out. Home vs Cal and Stanford next week. Stanford upset Oregon yesterday- 70-60.

Colorado overcame ice cold shooting (28% from the floor) and an eleven point deficit at the half to beat Stanford 81-74. Colorado only had 22 points in the first half but outscored the Cardinal 59-41 in the second half to win 81-74. That sets up their re-match at Oregon next Thursday. Should the Ducks beat Oregon State later tonight, both teams will 19-5 overall and 8-4 in conference. Colorado beat Oregon earlier this season in Boulder. Winner would have the lead in the Pac 12. Stanford beat Oregon last week.

When Stanford starter Oscar De Silva went down (two players collided) and injured his head, both teams huddled together and hugged waiting to see how he was. He left the game with a cut and probable concussion. He was able to walk to the locker room on his own. He received stitches for the cut.

Going into today's games, the Pac 12 has eight teams bunched up within 2.5 games of each other and two more just a half game behind them.

Still unbeaten San Diego State leading Air Force- going for their 24th win of the season.

Oregon lost to Oregon State - their second loss this week- both games on the road: at Stanford and at Oregon State. That puts Colorado in first place in the Pac12 and a game ahead of the Ducks. Colorado has the tiebreaker since CU beat OU earlier this year.

Bobby Knight showed up at an Indiana game for the first time since 2000 when he was fired.

    https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...-split-indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Bob Knight's short stroll from the practice gym to Assembly Hall ended a 20-year journey home.

It seemed as if he never left.

When the former Indiana Hoosiers coach walked through the tunnel Saturday and onto his old court for the first time since his firing in September 2000, the crowd went wild -- chanting his name, roaring with approval, thanking him for all the success and banners he brought to Bloomington.

"It was one of the greatest and most emotional things for me," said former player Randy Wittman, who had a key role in the reunion. "I don't know if we'll see something like this again in college basketball. When he moved back here, I told him, 'You're back here because this is where you belong.'"

The sellout crowd and dozens of former players lauded Knight after watching a video detailing Knight's contributions.

He walked in with his son Pat. He hugged Isiah Thomas. He was assisted into the arena by Quinn Buckner. And the 79-year-old Knight reveled in the moment, pumping his fist, pretending to direct Scott May in a practice drill and even leading fans in a chorus of, "De-fense, de-fense."

No, he didn't wear his trademark red sweater or throw a chair. But he did appear to get a little misty-eyed as the fans cheered.

"We love you, Bobby," one shouted.

Knight did not speak to the crowd over the public address system. He didn't need to.

Everyone in attendance understood what the combustible coach had on his 29-season résumé: a school-record 662 victories, 11 Big Ten championships, five Final Four appearances and, yes, three national titles.

They knew some of the stories, too -- the Olympic gold medal he won in 1984 with Michael Jordan after cutting Charles Barkley; the infamous chair-throwing incident in 1985; and the firing that took place Sept. 10, 2000, causing the rift between Knight and the university.
Knight hadn't exactly been invisible around Bloomington or the state after the firing.

He took the Texas Tech job, and then retired in 2008 with a then-NCAA-record 902 career wins. He worked on ESPN as a color analyst. He gave speeches, attended fundraisers, signed autographs and attended basketball games and practices around Indiana.

He just didn't associate himself with the Hoosiers.

He also spoke at a Donald Trump rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in October 2016 and at another Trump rally on the south side of Indianapolis in November 2018.

And yet everyone associated with Indiana basketball still had one question: Will he ever come back?

"When he moved back here, I knew he was in a good place," Wittman said. "I knew he was happy here, living, and I told him, 'You belong here.'"

It didn't take long for the rumors to start.

Some expected his return to come against Ohio State, his alma mater, on Jan. 11. Instead, he attended a game that day at Marian University, an NAIA school in Indianapolis for which another former player, Steve Downing, is the athletic director.

But with the Hoosiers playing their biggest rival, Purdue, longtime friend and rival Gene Keady seated in the front row and his 1980 Big Ten championship team being honored Saturday, Knight made it to Assembly Hall and delivered one of his traditional pregame speeches to the current Hoosiers before their 74-62 loss to the Boilermakers.

"I was standing there and he was Coach Knight," Wittman said. "It was like he hadn't left that locker room. The words he gave to those players before they went out on the floor, it was fabulous."

The fans thought so, too, sending Knight home with one lasting chant: "Thank you, Coach! Thank you, Coach!"

Colorado jumped all the way from #24 to #16 this week. With their loss, Oregon dropped to #17. Both meet in Oregon on Thursday where Oregon is yet to lose this year. Colorado won their first meeting and currently has a one game lead in the standings. Oregon was #4 and Colorado unranked at the time. Five of Colorado's remaining seven games are all on the road though.

Michigan State was #1 in the pre-season polls. Today, they were dropped from the rankings. San Diego State remains unbeaten- amazing considering they lost 13 games last season (21-13). They did make to the conference finals at the end of the season though, where they lost.

Hoosiers miss 7 fist half free throws , lead 49 - 34 at Half . Would be up 22 if we could hit free throws.

Hoosiers lead 89 - 75 over # 21 Iowa with 30 seconds to play . Like to have the 10 missed free throws and 99 points , but we will take the win . Great job on the boards tonight , one of the few real strengths we have . 11 Threes tonight was a season high , I think our previous best was 9 . Hoosiers are 4 - 6 against current top 40 .

Colorado led on the road at Oregon almost the entire game but Oregon took the lead back with about two minutes to go and held on. Concerned about playing at Oregon State which beat us at home. OSU has also beaten Arizona and Oregon. They also lose to teams they should beat though and are just 5-7 in conference. CU is now tied with Oregon- the two could very well face each other again in the conference tournament at the end of the season. Ducks are 13-0 at home.

San Diego State stayed perfect and picked up their 25th straight win. They clinched the Mountain West regular season title in the process with four games remaining. Average score has been 78- 56.

Dominated Oregon State on the road. Since Oregon plays Utah at home later today, we are currently half a game ahead of them. In the Pac 12 there are currently six teams (half the conference) within just one game of each other. We host two of those- UCLA and USC- this week. Our final two home games- last three are on the road. Ducks play at Arizona and Arizona State this week- both teams just one half a game behind Oregon and Colorado. UCLA and USC are half a game behind those two- one game out of first place in the conference.

Huge matchup in Big 12 Saturday- #3 Kansas at #1 Baylor. Baylor won at Kansas in January 67- 55. Baylor's only loss was in week #2 to Washington on a last second three pointer- twenty three in a row.

Colorado bounced back from trailing USC 20-6 midway through the first half to win and stay on top in the Pac12. They were tied with Oregon who lost to Arizona State on the road. The loss dropped Oregon from tied for first to tied for fourth. There are still five teams within one game of each other (USC is now two games down). Oregon plays at Arizona (half a game ahead of the Ducks) while Colorado hosts UCLA- who is one game behind them.

Kansas beats Baylor 64- 61- ending their record 23 game winning streak. Kansas led by ten with six minutes to go but Baylor made it more interesting at the end. Kansas jumped out to a 14-2 lead to start the game which was at Baylor. Since both teams split the head to head, if they finish tied in the Big 12, the Champion will be decided by a drawing to see who gets the conference's #1 seed in the NCAA tourney. Both have only one loss in conference so far- against each other though Kansas has played (and lost) one more total game. Both have four games left in the regular season.

Pac12 race in disarray. Colorado losing their home finale to UCLA (going scoreless for seven minutes in the second half does not help) has four teams tied for first and one (Oregon) half a game back. Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and UCLA all tied. Oregon plays at Arizona tonight and Arizona State hosts Oregon State.

Following the evening games, Arizona State has a half game lead over three teams- Oregon (who had to go to OT to beat Arizona), Colorado, and UCLA. Arizona sits just a half game behind those three. Three games left. This will go down to the final games of the season.

Not just Baylor but Gonzaga and San Diego State lost on Saturday. Aztecs suffered their first loss of the season- 66- 63 to UNLV at home. Gonzaga lost to BYU 91- 78. All three were favored to be #1 seeds in the NCAA tournament. Baylor losing to the #3 team was probably hurt the least by their loss.

Muh Hoosiers played 30 min of great ball today in Bloomington . Blew a 19 point lead accumulated in the first 20 and trailed by 6 , the defense stepped up the rest of the way and we beat # 9 Penn St by 8 points . Could have closed it out earlier if we had the ten free throws we missed . Hoosiers move to 18 - 9 . I think that makes us 6 - 6 against top 25 teams and 3 - 3 against the top 5 Big 10 teams . The Big Ten came in this season easily with 12 or 13 teams in NCAA tournament contention ( and will probably get ten in ) , Purdue ( except when playing us ) and Minnesota have under achieved a bit but the other top 10 look like they could beat about anyone on a given day . Hoosiers next game becomes huge as they go on the road . A win would put them over .500 in Conf play in the premier basketball conf.

Muh Hoosiers trail by 6 with 2:49 to play .Pretty much the difference in the game was they gave up a 6 - 0 run in the last minute of the first half , a 7 - 0 run to start the second half and missed 6 free throws on a night of awful shooting .

After a long season I think it comes down to the next two games for my Hoosiers . They have to beat # 24 Wisconsin at home tomorrow and win a game or two in the Big Ten tournament to get in as a 10 seed I think . Win Sat would marke them 7-6 against the top 25 , get them win # 20 and keep Wisc from winning the Conf . I have no idea what to expect because while we often play well at home we do not play well against Wisc and we are not consistent while the badgers are .

Well , I like our chances so far . We are up three at the half and have held the badgers to two points in the paint and one made free throw while we have missed just one free throw . Big second half coming .
