Justin Amash: The Last Republican in America

Great profile on Amash. Below is my favorite part:

Pye [FreedomWorks lobbyist] didn’t love the budget bill either, but without it, there were no tax cuts. So Pye blasted out an email pressuring members of Congress to support the bill; those that didn’t would take a hit to their score as a “true conservative.” When he got back from lunch, there was a banker’s box on the couch in his office. No note, no return address. Inside was every trophy FreedomWorks had awarded Justin Amash.

Such a smart guy. Too bad he's such a nerd he can't figure out party is more important than principle.

Unfortunately he's failed to show the "proper" level of obsequiousness toward Trump, so he's a "traitor." Just ask the all wise, all knowing SS.

I agree. I loved this quote.

"Politicians take tough votes all the time, holding their noses to get something passed. Only Amash would get so upset at being asked to compromise his beliefs that he would respond with a gesture any reasonable person would interpret as: $#@! you. “He really is one of the most principled lawmakers out there,” Pye says. “Sometimes, he’s principled to a fault.”

Funny how the very principled Thomas Massie never gets caught up in the bull$#@!. But, then, he doesn't get 'Rolling Stone' write-ups either. But out of any of them he is hands down my favorite.

It's funny to watch the TDS crowd fall in love with the MSM and all the other swamp creatures who love Amash now that he endorsed their treason.

Argue with Ron, he says it's a CIA coup, and since they are working with foreigners it is treason as well.

Not outright, no. Care to quote Ron Paul saying everyone who wants the investigation to play out is complicit in this possible coup attempt?

I am often asked how many intelligence assets work in the press. In my experience it is easier to answer who isn't working for the IC. Some "journalists" are operatives masquerading as reporters, others are contractors. Intelligence is spreading propaganda, creating a narrative.

Ron won't say that, because he doesn't believe it. And since you're ignoring the point, I'll reiterate: Amash came out for an investigation. Schiff had not yet begun to shape the course of the thing yet when that happened.

You keep trying to blame Amash ex post facto for things Schiff has done since Amash was hounded out if the GOP. You're not making that sale.

The impeachment was bogus when Amash endorsed it, what Schiff has done since only makes it worse.

Says the man who doesn't understand it.

Amash endorsed an impeachment on bogus charges which was part of an illegal coup involving foreigners.
And the evidence that it is an illegal treasonous coup has been well known so he can't claim ignorance.

Impeachment is not in and of itself treasonous or a coup. And given a choice between taking your word or Amash's word for whether the charges are bogus, and/or whether they looked bogus at that time, well, I have bad news. You've lied to me far, far more often than he has.

I like Amash a lot and love his voting record, I also think he is one of the most principled reps in Congress. Having said that, I think his support for Trump impeachment has nothing to do with principle but rather a personal beef he has with Trump. The MSM is loving him just because of his opposition to Trump, without it he would never get a positive write up like that in the rolling stone.

I wish him the very best and hope he gets off this silly impeachment fast.

Because Thomas is smart enough to know that as a Republican elected official he shouldn't cross his base. There are ways to call out Trump for things tactfully. Thomas understands this, Justin does not.
