Exclamation ET Bureau's irresponsible reporting on US military 'promoting ISIS in Afghanistan'

Suddenly there are reports of resurgence of ISIS terrorists in Afghanistan, who's the 'founding father' of this latest rebirth?

Also, why are some media outlets allowed to do such irresponsible reporting.. shouldn't some taxpayers funded or private US media watchdog hold them accountable?

US military allegedly promoting ISIS in Afghanistan

There are allegations that weapons are often transferred to the territory of Afghanistan by helicopters without identifying insignia.

The US military is allegedly allowing members of the ISIS, which have suffered serious defeats in Syria and neighboring Iraq, to infiltrate Afghanistan even as US is engaged with peace talks with Taliban for sake of stability in the landlocked country.

There are allegations that weapons are often transferred to the territory of Afghanistan by helicopters without identifying insignia. With the US and NATO fully controlling the skies over Afghanistan, there is every reason to believe they had a hand in that, or at least, did not hamper these flights, sources alleged.

In early April security officials in Afghanistan arrested a group of six media activists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) from Kabul. Detained individuals were involved in pro-ISIS activities in social media networks, mainly spreading propagandas in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Telegram.

Afghan officials arrested 10 other ISIS facilitators during a separate operation in Nangarhar province. 12,500 kilograms of explosives were seized during the same operation. Afghan Special Forces, ISIS and the Taliban are preparing for a three-way battle in eastern Afghanistan. ISIS started an offensive against the Taliban few weeks ago in Kunar province - a fight that has displaced more than 20,000 people.

USA and Brussels, however, deny any such role. USA said that the Islamic State terror group is losing its grip on parts of Afghanistan, slowly succumbing to pressure from U.S. and Afghan forces

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai had once told al-Jazeera television news network that the US is colluding with Daesh in Afghanistan, and allowing the Takfiris to flourish in his conflict-stricken country.

Return of ISIS: Taliban fight ‘join ISIS in droves’ - ‘US is concerned’

ISIS 'developing' with new caliphate claims expert

The Afghan branch of ISIS, known as Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K), is gaining ground as Taliban hardliners angry about peace negotiations with the US have “joined ISIS in droves”, according to experts. IS-K, formed in 2014 and known for its ruthless violence and gory propaganda videos on social media, is believed to be responsible for a surge in violence of ISIS violence this year. The attacks have raised fears of an ISIS resurgence even though the group was defeated in its Iraqi and Syrian heartlands earlier this year.

The Financial Times reported the expansion of the ISIS affiliate across Afghanistan has led to growing concern the group will create a haven for terrorists to organise violence abroad, recreating the conditions that allowed al-Qaeda to organise the 9/11 attacks on the US.

Afghanistan is seen as an important region to recuperate and plan their next phase of operations.

Jonathan Schroden, a military analyst at research organisation CNA, said: “The US is most concerned about IS-K as potentially the next big thing inside ISIS.”
Another expert said the ISIS affiliate is growing steadily in size, as new recruits are joining IS-K from across the Middle East.

A senior U.S. general says that ISIS remains a "very worrisome" presence in Afghanistan, but it is unlikely to mount an attack on the U.S. homeland because it is under strong military pressure.

Marine Gen. Frank McKenzie, who heads the U.S. Central Command, on June 12 told reporters the extremist group "in Afghanistan certainly has aspirations to attack the United States."
"It is our clear judgment that as long as we maintain pressure on them it will be hard for them to do that," he said.
McKenzie, whose Central Command has responsibility for managing U.S. military operations across the Middle East, spoke in Germany with reporters after completing an eight-day trip to Qatar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.

The AP earlier this week quoted U.S. and Afghan security officials as saying the extremist group in Afghanistan is expanding its presence, recruiting new members, and plotting attacks on the United States and other Western countries.

A U.S. intelligence official based in Afghanistan told AP that a recent series of attacks in the Afghan capital, Kabul, were "practice runs" for even bigger attacks in Europe and the United States.

Almost 900 people, including Islamic State fighters and members of their families and a majority of them Pakistani nationals, have surrendered to Afghan security forces in the past fortnight, people familiar with developments said on Sunday. These include ten Indians as well.
The surrenders occurred in the eastern province of Nangarhar, where the Afghan national security forces are conducting operations against the IS, the people cited above said. Hours after the operation was launched on November 12, a total of 93 IS members, including 13 Pakistani nationals, laid down their arms, they said.
According to reports, 10 Indian women and children – all members of families of Indian fighters, most of them from Kerala – are believed to be among those who have surrendered. The 10 people were believed to have been shifted to Kabul. A special team from the National Directorate of Security, the Afghan intelligence agency, is gathering details of the people who have surrendered.
“We are evaluating them one by one. More details will emerge once this process is finished,” said an official in Kabul who declined to be identified. The people said several Indian-origin IS fighters are believed to be active in Nangarhar though a few have died in air strikes and operations by Afghan special forces. Since 2016, about a dozen men from Kerala travelled to Afghanistan to join IS. Some of them had converted to Islam and several were accompanied by their families.

Uranium is being traded freely in the open market in India
    June 11, 2021
The Times of India has reported that a special police team arrested seven persons and recovered 6 Kgs of Uranium from them following raids at different parts of the city on Thursday. Bokaro SP Chandan Kumar Jha said, “We have seized the yellow substance and will send it to experts for tests. Uranium is a highly radioactive substance used at nuclear facilities.”
Police said the accused, suspected of being part of a national gang involved in the illegal uranium trade, searched for customers and fixed its price at Rs 50 lakhs per kg. Notably, a kilogram of Uranium sells for around Rs 18 crores in the global market, sources said. For the first time, Uranium has been seized in this industrial town, but in other parts of India, similar cases were reported several times recently.

Sometime in March, the Nepal Police announced it had arrested four individuals on charges of attempting to sell around 2.5 kgs of uranium. The news, as expected, went viral. How the uranium came into their possession is indeed a story by itself. One of the four’s father-in-law worked at a uranium mine in India, and had brought it back to Nepal. For twenty years, the uranium sat at their home. Finally, the daughter-in-law learnt the material was valuable, and tried to sell it off, according to some reports, for Rs1.5 billion—which was when the police swooped in, arrested them, and grandly declared they had busted the racket.

Taliban setup base in Syria to assess needs of Jihad
    Sat Jul 13, 2013
According to reports a group of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) representatives have recently visited Syria in a bid to assess the needs of Jihad and set up a base.
A TTP official quoted by BBC said the base was set up with the assistance of ex-Afghan fighters of Middle Eastern origin who have moved to Syria in recent years. The official further added at least 12 experts in the field of warfare and information technology have moved to Syria in the last two decades.Taliban group has reportedly opened the base in Syria with a sectarian motive, and to support Sunni Muslims who are believed to be oppressed by Sryia’s predominantly Shia rulers. Senior Pakistani Taliban leader, Mohammad Amin in an interview with the BBC confirmed that the cell to monitor “the jihad” in Syria was set up six months ago.
