Is Thomas (and Rand) setting him up to succeed Mconnell?

Mconnell is running for re-election but could Massie be the blessed successor?

We all know Rand and his team have shown to execute politics in a methodical manner, they plan ahead. Mconnell endorsed Rand for President in 2015, Mconnell is also endorsing and fundraising for Bevin despite having been against each other in a bitter primary in 2014.

Massie has chosen to take the Rand Paul path (as opposed to the Amash scorched earth paht) in the house, keeping his principles but also keeping a relatively low profile, branding himself as the engineer/science congressman with a conservative/libertarian twist.

Of course Mconnell might pick establishment, but it all really depends on his relationship with Rand.

Perhaps Rand traded the 2014 senate endorsement for his presidential endorsement in 2015.

Perhaps Rand will once again trade a 2020 endorsement for Massie in 2026.

    I hope so.
The other option might be that Rand is going to keep his (silly) term limit pledge and try to have Massie replace himself.

I don't think that will happen, unfortunately.

Massie has said before that the House is the further he wants to go in politics so unless he changes his mind then I dont think he would succeed McConntell. Other contenders are Gov. Bevin or Rep. James Comer. Both solid fiscal conservatives who Rand will like to work with.

If rand leaves the Senate he should swap with Bevin and they could endorse eachother.
