Rand has one ally. Sen Marsha Blackburn (R-TN):

What is wrong with 80% ..... (rhetorical).

Only 2%? A good start would be 10%!

    Greedy.

It has to be palatable where other senators will deem it reasonable.

Rand is already on thin ice for stirring up the pot so much. The balancing act he needs to do in order get some items through in a more libertarian manner is already tough as it is.

Sure Rand can do a plan with 10-80% cuts, and nobody will even look at it. Ego stroking symbolic legislation seems pretty pointless.

    Update:

The Senate Thursday overwhelmingly approved a stopgap spending bill, avoiding a government shutdown.

Before the vote, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., proposed an amendment to the bill that would have reduced spending by two percent. That amendment failed after a vote of 73-24.

Paul has long railed against what he believes is unnecessary government spending. In July, he took to the Senate floor to criticize a budget deal that he called the "death of the Tea Party movement in America."

Not even a 0.5% cut would pass.

The only cutting going on is Trump asking for new construction/projects to be done cheaper, and asking his department heads to cut 5% in their spending.

Cutting 2% is a bit extreme don't you think? Should try something more reasonable. Maybe 0.02%
It's all about taking action and not being lazy. So you do the work, whether it's fitness or whatever. It's about getting up, motivating yourself and just doing it.
