Thumbs down House launches Trump impeachment inquiry , Only 4th time in history

Now MAGA's former party is launching impeachment probe against him following whistleblower leaks few days ago related to his phone call with Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky back in July. True to form, CNN has already setup a live updates page on impeachment just as it did few days ago on the underlying scandal (CNN sets up dedicated page for Trump whistleblower mystery):

Moderate GOP senator 'disturbed' by McConnell's coordination with White House
    Wed December 25, 2019
Washington (CNN)Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska said she is "disturbed" by coordination between Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the White House over the upcoming Senate impeachment trial.
Senate leaders have yet to reach an agreement on the rules of the trial, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not sent the Senate the impeachment articles necessary to begin the proceedings. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has called for the Senate to pursue witnesses and documents, which McConnell opposes, leading to a holiday impasse and uncertainty as to when the trial will begin.

Sondland says his family, businesses receiving threats over role in Trump impeachment inquiry
By Tyler Olson | Fox News
U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland said in public testimony Wednesday that his family had received "many" threats as a result of his role in the impeachment inquiry, under questioning from Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, on the personal repercussions he'd dealt with since being pulled into the scandal.
"We have countless emails apparently to my wife, our properties are being picketed and boycotted," Sondland said.

'The answer is yes': Sondland affirms 'quid pro quo' in Ukraine dealings - Politico

    11/20/2019
President Donald Trump’s handpicked Ukraine adviser Gordon Sondland told House impeachment investigators Wednesday that Trump conditioned a valuable White House meeting for Ukraine's new president on his willingness to launch investigations into Trump’s Democratic adversaries, including former Vice President Joe Biden.
“Was there a ‘quid pro quo?’” Sondland — the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, a close Trump ally and longtime GOP donor — said in his opening remarks to the House Intelligence Committee. “The answer is yes.”
Sondland’s testimony was the most dramatic to date, putting the president at the center of an effort to pressure a foreign power to investigate his political rivals. Democrats quickly seized on the bombshell testimony as they seek to make the case in a series of public impeachment hearings that Trump abused his power by conditioning official acts to benefit his re-election campaign.

Name of rapper 'Rocky A$AP' triggered Amb. Sondland memory recall that could sink Trump Presidency
    11/20/2019
Sondland named rapper A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, numerous times throughout his testimony.
President Donald Trump had advocated for Mayers after he was jailed in Sweden in July over assault charges, leading to his early release.
Trump wanted Sondland, who is ambassador to the European Union, to tighten the screws on Sweden to let A$AP go free.

Sondland: Rapper A$AP Rocky was initially the "primary focus" of the July 26 call with Trump

House Democrats' counsel Daniel Goldman pointed out that Sondland's testimony is that he now remembers that infamous July 26 phone with President Trump he had while sitting in a restaurant in Kiev.
This is the call where they discussed investigations that President Trump wanted Ukraine to announce.
Sondland, who said he isn't a notetaker, said, "What triggered my memory was someone's reference to A$AP Rocky, which I believe was the primary focus of the phone call."

Timeline of the impeachment inquiry against President Trump
The president had assured supporters Kanye West and Kim Kardashian that he would win freedom for the rapper, and was irritated that little apparent progress was being made.

Army Reportedly Ready to Move Vindman Family Onto Base if They’re in ‘Physical Danger’ After Impeachment Testimony
    Nov 19th, 2019
National Security Council official Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and his family are reportedly ready to move to a military base if the Army determines they are in “physical danger” following Vindman’s public impeachment hearing testimony.
Lt. Col. Vindman has already given explosive closed-door testimony about the now-infamous phone call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that led to the current impeachment inquiry.
But in a sobering development, the Army is concerned for the safety of Vondman and his family once he testifies publicly for the first time Tuesday, according to The Wall Street Journal:
The U.S. Army is prepared to move Col. Vindman and his family onto a military base in the area to ensure their security if it is determined that they are in physical danger, according to U.S. officials.

“The Army will make sure he’s safe, and the Army is actively supporting any safety needs as deemed necessary,” an official said. “It’s hard that he has been catapulted into the public eye. He served his country honorably for 20 years, and you can imagine this is a tough situation for him and his family.”
Vindman has already been the subject of a smear campaign by Donald Trump Jr., as well as various Fox News personalities and CNN analyst Sean Duffy, and other Trump allies.

'He's a patriot': Republicans defend key impeachment witness from attacks

Senior GOP lawmakers rejected the assault from conservative pundits on Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman told House impeachment investigators that he thought President Donald Trump undermined national security with his Ukraine pressure campaign.
    10/29/2019

Several top Republicans on Tuesday made emphatic statements in support of Vindman, a National Security Council official who heard Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president and testified that it was improper for Trump to demand an investigation into Joe Biden and represented a threat to U.S. national security.

“That guy’s a Purple Heart. I think it would be a mistake to attack his credibility,” South Dakota Sen. John Thune, the No. 2 Senate Republican, said in an interview. “You can obviously take issue with the substance and there are different interpretations about all that stuff. But I wouldn’t go after him personally. He’s a patriot.”
“I’m not going to question the patriotism of any of the people who come forward," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), though he declined to comment "on the merit of what’s going forward" or Vindman's suggestion that he was concerned Trump's actions had undermined national security.

Populous 'Rocky A$AP of Presidents' image of Trump takes a hit with sudden 13 points swing for impeachment

    Sep 26th, 2019
The first polling on the question of whether or not President Donald Trump should be impeached since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that she’s supporting an impeachment inquiry shows a major swing — one which leaves the public split right down the middle.
According to the Morning Consult, there has been a 13 point swing in favor of impeachment in just a matter of days. The new poll, taken from Sept. 24-26, shows the public in a 43-43 deadlock on the question of whether Congress should begin impeachment proceedings to remove Trump from office. The same poll, conducted from Sept. 20-22, shows 36 in favor of beginning impeachment proceedings, with 49 percent opposed — a massive swing in such a short period of time.

Democrats, Independents and — perhaps surprisingly — Republicans all showed an increase in impeachment support, according to the Morning Consult. Seventy-nine percent of Democrats now favor Trump impeachment, up from 66 a few days ago, with Independent support jumping to 39 from 33, and the Republican number increasing from 5 to 10.

For over 2 years media beat the so called 'Russia collusion' issue to death until finally under bold leadership of Rosenstein-Barr and with their interpretation of Mueller Report, Obstruction of Justice issue was put to rest (though some Dems still continue to harp on it). There has been chatter that some in media kept pushing Russian angle without any credible proof because MAGA's 'Russian' son-in-law was involved in some meeting during 2016 election campaign with the Russians.

President Donald Trump, in a midsummer phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, asked him to look into why that country’s top prosecutor apparently had ended an investigation of the business dealings of Joe Biden’s son, who served on the board of a Ukrainian gas company.
“(Then-Vice President Joe) Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution, so if you can look into it, It sounds horrible to me,” Trump told Zelenskiy during the 30-minute July 25 phone call.

Trump then says, "There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, what Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that, so whatever you can do with the attorney general would be great.”

“Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution, so if you can look into it, It sounds horrible to me,” Trump said on the call, according to the transcript.

Zelenskiy replies that he’s appointing a new prosecutor who will “look into the situation.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi launched a formal impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump on Tuesday, yielding to mounting pressure from fellow Democrats and plunging a deeply divided nation into an election-year clash between Congress and the commander in chief.
The probe focuses partly on whether Trump abused his presidential powers and sought help from a foreign government to undermine Democratic foe Joe Biden and help his own reelection. Pelosi said such actions would mark a “betrayal of his oath of office” and declared, “No one is above the law.”
The impeachment inquiry, after months of investigations by House Democrats of the Trump administration, sets up the party’s most direct and consequential confrontation with the president, injects deep uncertainty into the 2020 election campaign and tests anew the nation’s constitutional system of checks and balances.
Trump, who thrives on combat, has all but dared Democrats to take this step, confident that the specter of impeachment led by the opposition party will bolster rather than diminish his political support.
Meeting with world leaders at the United Nations, he previewed his defense in an all-caps tweet:

In betting terms, the shortening of odds means something is more likely to occur.
What should be even more alarming to the White House, according to Brice, is the shortening of odds for a Trump impeachment this year.

The whistleblower's complaint was over multiple actions, intel official says

The intelligence community inspector general last week suggested that the controversial whistleblower complaint that triggered the Ukraine-Trump drama, raised concerns about multiple actions, sources told CNN.
However, the inspector general — who spoke at a closed-door briefing last week — would not say if those instances involved President Trump, the sources said.
One source said that Inspector General Michael Atkinson referenced "a sequence of events" and "alleged actions" that took place. However, another source disputed that the IG provided substantive details regarding the whistleblower claim.

Remember: We still haven't seen the whistleblower's complaint. Yesterday, the Senate unanimously approved a resolution urging the Trump administration to provide the full whistleblower compliant to Congress.

What we do know about the complaint: The Trump-Ukraine drama was first triggered by a whistleblower, who filed a complaint about Trump's contact with a foreign leader. After that, allegations surfaced that Trump threatened to withhold $400 million in military and security aid from Ukraine to force Kiev to open an investigation into his potential 2020 rival Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

There is no evidence of wrongdoing by Biden or his son.

    Key Points

    • A list of what appeared to be White House talking points about a controversial call by President Donald Trump with Ukraine’s president were emailed accidentally to the offices of Democratic members of Congress
    • The talking points mirror what Republican defenders of Trump said Wedneday on the heels of the release of notes summarizing the July 25 call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
    • During that call, Trump asked Zelensky to “look into” former Vice President Joe Biden, who is currently seeking the Democratic nomination for president, and his son, Hunter Biden.

So instead of impeaching Trump for something serious they are accusing him for requesting Ukraine’s president to investigate Biden (maybe Trump can promise to lock “creepy” Joe up as a nice campaign stunt)? Or maybe they could start the internet buzzing about Podesta?!?
Please don’t look into the cesspool that is the Ukraine-Democrook-Republicon-collusion!

From 2012 to 2014, the the Podesta Group was actually working for Mercury LLC (of Manafort and his employee Rick Gates), who were hired to lobby for the European Center for Modern Ukraine (ECFMU) affiliated with president of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014 Viktor Yanukovych.
Yanukovych had to flee the Ukraine after protesters overthrew his government. He was reportedly helped by Putin to escape to Russia.
Reportedly Podesta and Manafort had to lobby the message that Ukraine’s 2012 election was really democratic and that the country’s leaders wanted to move further away from Putin and closer to the West.

The Podesta Group has in the past lobbied for foreign government clients with abysmal human rights records, like Vietnam, Azerbaijan and South Sudan.

Mercury LLC’s filings with the Justice Department show that its lobbyists, including Ed Kutler (an ally of Newt Gingrich), spent time setting up meetings related to Ukraine issues. One person they introduced to numerous Hill offices and to a senior official at the Export-Import Bank was Sergiy Klyuyev.
Less than a year after Mercury LLC introduced Klyuyev around the Hill, the EU froze his assets in the wake of the collapse of the Yanukovych regime. Klyuyev was one of more than a dozen Yanukovych allies the EU suspected of embezzling state money. Klyuyev and his brother reportedly also fled to Russia. Over $1.5 million has been paid by the Party of Regions to American politicians in 2012 and 2013 alone. The founders of the ECFMU, at that time, were 3 Members of the Parliament from the Party of Regions, who in 2 years since have moved considerably up the power ladder — the current Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara, the current head of the Budget Committee of Parliament Ievgenii Hiellier and the current head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Vitaliy Kahlyushnyy.
The reported budget of the ECFMU (located in Brussels, Belgium) is only €10,000. In 2012, the Belgian mediator paid the American lobbyists 80 times that amount $800,000. In 2013 they have paid American lobbyists 79 times their budget $790,000.
The Podesta Group, was founded by brothers Tony and John Podesta. John headed the office of President Bill Clinton in 1998-2001, since December 2013 was a senior adviser to President Obama and then campaign chairman for Hillary Clinton. In 2012, 2013 the Podesta Group received $1.02 million from the ECFMU.

The second company that was hired by ECFMU, is Mercury/Clark & Weinstock, of Manafort and Rick Gates. Mercury is affiliated with ex-Republican congressman John Vincent "Vin" Weber, who was involved in the last presidential election campaign of Mitt Romney. Mercury received $570,000 from Brussels in 2012, 2013.

What’s bizarre about the ECFMU is that it was first reported to be founded by acting Members of Parliament in the Ukraine: Leonid Kozhara, Ievgenii Hiellier and Vitaliy Kahlyushnyy.
The surnames of Kozhara, Hiellier and Kahlyushnyy were taken out of the registry, and replaced by former MP Oleg Nadosha, ex-MP Oleksiy Plotnikov and Kseniya Solovyova (born in 1987).

German Ina Kirsch Van de Vater, was also among the founders for the ECFMU. Ina Kirsch claimed that the ECFMU has no relation to the Klyuyev Foundation (suspected of embezzling state money):
U.S. companies that cooperate with the ‘European Centre for Modern Ukraine’ have no relation to the Party of Regions. They work exclusively in support of the Center (...) The Center has nothing to do, directly or indirectly, to Klyuyev’s fund.
Strangely Ina Kirsch “forgot” to mention that her husband Robert Van de Vater in 2014 was a Deputy Board Chairman of the Klyuyev Foundation: http://www.pravda.com.ua/articles/2014/02/5/7012902/
    (archived here: http://archive.is/GhInS)

The following graph explains this in short.

Possibly the most interesting from the official document...
    Prosecutors say in:
total, more than $75 million flowed through the offshore accounts. MANAFORT laundered more than $18 million

Manafort spent the money extravagantly, including more than $1.3 million to clothing stores in New York and Beverly Hills.

Bipartisan donors and bipartisan corruption, who would have thought we would see that in our politics.

As it happens, MAGA's top donor also used to or still funds both parties. Even Trump funded Dems/Hillary Clinton, although hard to believe why would an America-First conservative ever do that.

Now the consern is that Dems would open pendora's box and reopen old scandals.

NYM: "The Michael Cohen Bribery Scandal Is Now a Trump Bribery Scandal"

Last night, the Daily Mail reported a development in the Michael Cohen saga of seismic scale. In a December 2016 meeting in Trump Tower, the British tabloid reports, Cohen asked Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, who runs a $100 billion Qatari investment fund, to send him “millions” which, the story claims, would go “through him to Trump family members.”

We have already learned of multiple cases of Cohen using his access to Trump to jack up multiple corporations for outrageous sums. The Daily Mail report deepens the trouble in two crucial ways. First, it extends Cohen’s scheme from domestic corporations (or, in one case, domestic corporations controlled by foreign entities) to direct overseas fundraising. Second, and more ominously, it alleges that Cohen funneled the money to Trump’s family. It was bad enough that Trump’s lawyer was enriching himself by cashing in on access. Now the story suggests he was enriching them, transforming the Cohen bribery story into a Trump bribery story.

Trump's unwritten rules for cashing in

    • President Donald Trump has a number of unwritten rules for his associates who are looking to profit from their association with him, according to people who know him well.
    • Associates must be successful, never create a bad story and never say they influence Trump.

Amid all the scrutiny this week of Trump confidantes cashing in on their relationships with President Trump, just about everyone in Washington has weighed in: Yes, it's corruption! No, it's just Washington being Washington! Yes, Trump is drowning in the swamp!
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders argues that payments by AT&T to President Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen really represent "the definition of draining the swamp" because the Trump Administration didn't let the payments stop the Department of Justice from taking steps against the AT&T/Time Warner merger.
But one aspect of all this remains relatively unexplored: How does President Trump himself feels about his former employees cashing in under his name?

    Never create a bad story

The president seems to have little respect for Cohen, routinely mocking him in private. That's why White House aides are flummoxed by the president's ongoing relationship with his New York fixer, who has broken this key rule and yet the president will not break with him.
One way to keep from embarrassing the president is to stay well within the norms of Washington DC's already pliable consulting and lobbying regulations. Cohen didn't do that, even with his big-name corporate clients. "If Novartis entered into a contract for $1.2 million sight unseen, that is unbelievable to me. I have never heard of anything like that," says one long-time Republican operative.

    Never say you influence Trump

Trump won't be impeached. There is not enough traction in the Republican controlled Senate. The American public, those that support Trump 50+% believe it to be nothing more than another attak on the lawfully elected POTUS. The Dems have been crying "Wolf" for too long and the majority are just tired of it.

House can have their hearings and that could run well beyond the election (and could have an impact on that) but you are right- to convict, they need two thirds of the Senate to approve. Not likely though things can change depending on what is discovered or not discovered.

If it runs beyond the election....it helps the Trump. It rallies his base. Pelosi had the right instincts. But, the New-Progressives were able to put on too much pressure. At this point the Progressives are being seen as vindictive by conservatives. To the point of actively supporting Trump no matter how they think of him. Conservatives believe that the New-Progressives will not, cannot, will never, accept their political will. And it will rally the base to the point Trump will sweep 2020.

Trump warns again that the stock market would crash if he is impeached

    Published Thu, Sep 26 2019
    Key Points

    • “If they actually did this the markets would crash. Do you think it was luck that got us to the best Stock Market and Economy in our history. It wasn’t,” Trump tweets.
    • This is not the first time Trump has warned of a market shock upon his impeachment. Last year, he said “everybody would be very poor” if he were removed from office.

President Donald Trump warned in a tweet Thursday amid the Ukraine whistleblower inquiry that the stock market would melt down if Congress successfully impeached him.
“If they actually did this the markets would crash. Do you think it was luck that got us to the best Stock Market and Economy in our history. It wasn’t,” the tweet said.
Trump’s tweet came a day after the release of a rough summary of a July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The summary showed Trump asked Zelensky to “look into” former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Nixon was not impeached, he might have been, but he resigned before that.
