    Financial transparency

Would mandating transparency on all transactions above, hmmmm..... say 1,000,000 USD lower corruption and improve the quality of the governments worldwide?

    No.

Mandating transparency of the finances of all politicians after they take office might.

IF the law is changed so that ALL politicians have to have transparent finances AFTER they take office.
And I am not holding my breath, it would take a massive movement to demand it before politicians would pass such a law.

So politicians being forced to make their finances transparent would be good, but a tradition of presidential candidates voluntarily releasing tax returns is bad.

    Who said it is bad?
Since when does tradition have the force of law?
