The GOP has been pressing wedge issues like crazy for as long as I can remember. Abortion is just one big wedge issue that they have no interest in resolving because that would take away their wedge. They used “Traditional Marriage” as a wedge issue in NC in 2011-2013 before I figured out how to shut that shyt down and then they brought Karl Rove to NC to recruit an opponent.

I can assure you that using wedge issues with gusto is nothing new to the GOP.

I don't think creepy joe has as much chance as the other lunatics and I would put their chances at no more than 30% right now.

I would like to see a poll for who would you vote for if the election were held today that had a list of all the viable candidates. I was going to start that thread today but got stuck on not being able to make the poll work.

Who do you consider to be viable candidates?

Trump, Sanders, Warren, Biden are the front runners. I wouldn't care if there were 20 people on the poll.

Well, you better figure it out.

Otherwise, you'll deprive @TheTexan of an opportunity to vote.

And then he'll have to work out his frustration by shooting a deer or something.

    No, I don't think he'll win.

His base is smaller and/or less enthusiastic than it was, while the Dems are more motivated than they've been for years, since at least Bush II.

I know quite a few former Trump supporters.

That said, it doesn't much matter.

If I bother voting, I'll be voting LP: a pox on all your houses.

If I were voting today and it was a choice of Trump or the Democrats I would vote for Trump.

No alternative Republicans or 3rd party candidates/Independents?

That won't be much of a poll, anyone who won't vote for Trump would either have to go collapsitarian and vote for a devil or choose "I won't be voting".

Realistically who do you think are the viable choices? Do you think Rand is going to enter the race? Do you think Tulsi will make the ballot? Who will it come down to in the general? Biden/Warren/Sanders or Trump would be my guess. Do you think Trump will have a legitimate challenger?

I don't know where here is, but they'll probably be on the ballot in every state.

They had their highest ever turnout last election (people declining to vote for either turd or $#@! sandwich).

I don't think anyone but Trump is a viable choice and there isn't much time for a new viable choice to appear, the Demoncrat will have to be treated as a viable choice but that won't mean they actually are one.

That's why I don't think there is any point to a poll.

    Could be

Is there a prize for voting for the winner?

If not, then I'll be sticking with my plan to not vote for either flavor of filth.

I have been at this longer than most may imagine and I am certain there are no prizes for voting . After I vote for Pence twice in 2024 and 2028 against stalin I may give up on it all together.

Hope he is ok, but this will change political prospects:

Biden's eye fills with blood during CNN climate town hall

    by Julio Rosas & Joseph Simonson | September 04, 2019 08:39 PM

Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared to have a blood vessel burst in his left eye while participating in CNN's town hall on climate change.

A broken blood vessel in the eye, also known as a subconjuctival hemorrhage, can be caused by several things, including high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, blood thinners, or even excessive straining.
Biden, 76, has long been plagued by health issues. In 1988, he suffered an aneurysm that burst and required him to undergo emergency surgery. The then-senator was so close to death that a Catholic priest began preparing to administer the sacrament of last rites.
Months later, surgeons clipped a second aneurysm before it burst. Biden then took a seven-month leave from the Senate following the surgery. Describing the operation, he once said, “They literally had to take the top of my head off.”
Jill Biden said in her recently released autobiography Where the Light Enters that, at the time, she feared her husband would never be the same. "Our doctor told us there was a 50-50 chance Joe wouldn't survive surgery," she wrote. "He also said that it was even more likely that Joe would have permanent brain damage if he survived. And if any part of his brain would be adversely affected, it would be the area that governed speech."
Doctors removed a benign polyp during a colonoscopy in 1996. In 2003, Biden had his gallbladder removed.
He suffers from asthma and allergies and takes a prescription drug to lower his cholesterol. He has also taken medication for an enlarged prostate.
Biden hasn’t disclosed his medical history since 2008, when doctors found he had an irregular heartbeat.
Biden has also raised eyebrows for the increasing number of verbal blunders he has made so far on the 2020 campaign trail, the schedule of which has been markedly lighter than his main rivals.
Those close to Biden nevertheless maintain that he is "a picture of health," according to a former aide who spoke to the Washington Examiner in April. Were he to win the 2020 presidential election, he would be the oldest president ever to be inaugurated.

Which flavor of socialism does the populous want?

...socialism with Starbucks or socialism with Chick-fil-A?

...hipster doofus purple hair socialism or redneck retard orange hair socialism?

    Huzzah for popular sovereignty...

    Be sure to vote hard.

Do you actually think that they think that any Democrat is going to be better than Trump on Guns?

They're pissed at Trump. Probably flat out hate the world right now. And no way in hell are they voting for a Democrat.

Everyone knows that the Democrats are going to take your guns. Period. No big fan of guns is going to vote Dem because they know that the Dem is definitely worse. And there is nothing the Democrats can do between now and 11/20 to change that at all.

    Trump is letting conservatives down.

Had read a claim after bump stock ban that Trump's Presidency was worse for 2nd amenement rights than Obama's.. and there is some merit to that claim. Despite all the frenzy then, Obama was not able to go against NRA/GOA/conservatives the way Trump has been able to.
It's similar phenomenon as seen post 2008 election, "everyone knew befoer election that Obama was anti-war" and won Nobel Peace Prize but he after winning election started more wars than Trump. Money lobbies seem to play strange tricks to get things done.

You have posed interesting question in other post, will get back with my views on those bit later.
