I don't have a link handy but Dave admitted that he loves the alphabet people and specifically talks about them just to rile them up. It's great publicity for every show released since they make such a big stink about it. IOW, if they stopped kneejerking and blowing up over his jokes he'd probably stop writing them and move on to another target for publicity.

Yes, he's very proud of that. Also very proud that he turned down $50million (he was already rich and famous when he did this, lets be honest). He's mentioned it practically every special.

What's funny to me about this special is it's portrayed as "anti-trans" when the entire show was a wind-up of him pandering to the trans crowd for them to understand and empathize with him. I had a few chuckles but it was very un-funny. He's more focused on social commentary and emotional zingers.

Plus he's openly racist against white people and makes almost no effort to couch it in some comedic irony.

I fail to understand why people give this guy a pass when his material gets less funny a more cringey. For the same reason they like Trump? Because he pisses people off?

I rolled with it the last two specials and against my gut I watched this one hoping for something more classic Chappelle. Nope. Likely the last one of his specials I will watch. Just another woke trainwreck fixated on victimhood identity politics.

That was my take as well. This one was not very funny. Seemed lazy.

Almost like he teamed up with the woke mob in a publicity campaign to get more viewers. Nothing very insightful. Nothing very funny. The best part was his dedication to Norm at the very end.

I've been listening to Chappelle since the late 90s, I attended a live performance around 2004 after his tv special ended and this last special was just about as good and funny as anything he has done before.. if you think he is openly racist about white people, but then did a dedication to a white comedian at the end of his special, I'm not sure that you quite "get it"..

He's equally racist against black people and everybody else, he's like South Park. At the same time, he loves everybody.

Racist = He believes black people are especially oppressed in America and people-especially white people-who do not acknowledge that are ignorant and need to be educated and learn empathy.

It's a nuanced racism but in my book, it's still racist. It's an implied moral inferiority.

Now, he didn't used to be that way.

If you can't see his arrogant condescendence to people who don't buy into his message-as he sits there pensively smoking a cigarette and nearly crying as he struggles to control his emotional state-I would just say you are one of the people who are cutting him an awful lot of slack.

Suspect who attacked Dave Chappelle on stage had gun-shaped knife when he was arrested, sources say

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The suspect who attacked comedian Dave Chappelle on stage at the Hollywood Bowl had a knife shaped like a gun when he was arrested, police sources tell ABC News.

Isaiah Lee, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday night after tackling Chappelle during his performance. Exclusive footage from AIR7 HD captured the attacker on a gurney as he was being loaded into an ambulance to be taken to a hospital.

It appears Chappelle was not injured in the attack.

Lee is now facing an assault with a deadly weapon charge and is being held on $30,000 bail, according to LAPD booking records.

Shortly after the incident, witnesses at the show took to social media, saying that the man rushed the stage and tackled Chappelle.

According to ABC News, Chappelle and the man tussled on the stage floor before the man ran away behind a screen on stage. Security staff surrounded and tackled the man in the rear corner of the stage.

Chappelle appeared to run toward the altercation, saying the man was being "stomped." Chappelle asked repeatedly for security to remove the man from stage.

Video posted to social media showed him continuing with the show. The 48-year-old comedian was performing as part of the Netflix Is A Joke Fest.

Comedian Chris Rock, who performed earlier in the night, came on stage with Chappelle moments after the attack and joked: "Was that Will Smith?
