Somehow I just don't see rap, deathmetal or country music folks getting together for such a festival....

Well, it certainly wasn’t the biggest. Doesn’t even make the list...

What really made this event so famous was the fact that they filmed it and made a movie about it...everyone could pretend that they were there.

Thought to have been 400,000 in attendance at its peak... & an impressive who’s who (including The Who ) & amazingly, few major problems... no fatalities anyway.

There was the whole Ending a War thing going on too.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

I remember I was going to run away and hitchhike there, but I chickened out...

    woodstock winds down...

Well, I came upon a child of God
He was walking along the road
And I asked him, Tell me, where are you going
    This he told me
Said, I'm going down to Yasgur's Farm
Gonna join in a rock and roll band
Got to get back to the land and set my soul free
We are stardust, we are golden
We are billion year old carbon
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden
Well, then can I roam beside you?
I have come to lose the smog,
And I feel myself a cog in somethin' turning
And maybe it's the time of year
Yes and maybe it's the time of man
    And I don't know who I am
    But life is for learning
We are stardust, we are golden
We are billion year old carbon
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden

We are stardust, we are golden
We are billion year old carbon
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden
By the time we got to Woodstock
We were half a million strong
And everywhere was a song and a celebration
And I dreamed I saw the bomber death planes
    Riding shotgun in the sky,
    Turning into butterflies
    Above our nation
We are stardust, we are golden
We are caught in the devils bargain
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden

It's hard to think of these kids as being in their 70s now.
There are no crimes against people.
There are only crimes against the state.
And the state will never, ever choose to hold accountable its agents, because a thing can not commit a crime against itself.
