I didn’t think of it that way, but you never know. Trump and Amash could be making the same point.

Ok, I'm confused by that statement. Tweets don't appear on my my screen but I think I located it by the number. How are they making the same point?

Depending on how much credit you give the drunken monkey, he could be both insulting Cuomo, and pointing out that red flag laws could easily be applied to anybody (abused), both at the same time. A twofer.

Would Chris Cuomo be given a Red Flag for his recent rant? Filthy language and a total loss of control. He shouldn’t be allowed to have any weapon. He’s nuts!

Well, I had a long day and just got settled. Is there some new reason to think Trump is playing a game with his stated support of red flag laws etc.?

So many Trump supporters who consider themselves gun rights supporters will follow their guttural partisan instinct and side with Trump on this and viciously attack Amash for his betrayal. I'll wait and see if any of this website's new anti-libertarian majority joins in.

When I first read the tweet that was my initial assumption.

No doubt he is doing both of those things. But in the eyes of the drunken monkey, the ability to abuse red flag laws is a reason he's for them.

You never know. That is the essence of the drunken monkey technique.

In reality, he will sign anything the Congress sends to him, so it’s really all up to McConnell.

Is Rand supporting the red flag laws?

He said he would support one with "due process" but there is no such thing as a Red Flag law with due process.

Amash may become a minority within Republicans given MAGA's forceful personality.

Had not thought MAGA would make this kind of shift post election, with help of Ivanaks he's building strong coalition with Dems for gun control.

    Trump Bans Bump Stocks

Ivanka Trump involved in congressional outreach on gun reform
    August 13, 2019 / 10:04 AM / CBS News

President Trump's daughter and senior aide Ivanka Trump is involved in the White House's outreach to members of Congress, a White House official told CBS News. Her outreach, the official said, is a part of the White House office of legislative affairs' efforts to engage members of Congress in talks about gun policy.
Ivanka Trump "has trusted relationships on both sides of the aisle and she is working in concert with the White House policy and legislative teams," a White House official said. Axios first reported Ivanka Trump's involvement.
The president's elder daughter was the first in the Trump family to declare the shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, acts of "terror." And she has voiced support for "red flag" laws, which would allow law enforcement to take weapons from Americans deemed to be a risk to themselves or others.

The point is, he is not talking "red flag" laws, and saying the people that cause these mass shootings are not in their right minds. This could be a window of opportunity to point out a lot of these mass shooters were on mind-altering psychrotrophic drugs.

When he says, "We have very very strong background checks right now but we have uh, sorta missing areas, areas that don't complete the whole circle and we're looking at different things...."

He is referring to anti-2nd Amendment legislation.

Namely, he is pushing for universal background checks and for ways for one to be adjudicated as being mentally unfit to own firearms without having a court declare as much.

What “missing areas that do not complete the whole circle [of background checks]” do you believe the Trump administration are “looking at”?
