Well, the obvious solution is to invade Vietnam or at the very least, a naval blockade, but in the meantime, let's tariff the Fock out of them. Orange man good.

Give it a little time. Foxconn type corps will eventually come here so that Americans can switch places with the Chinese and start making cheap stuff for them. It's also likely a big part of why the disarming agenda. Can't implement Chinese style social control here when Americans are still armed and able to resist the more draconian police state measures required by socialist/communist governance model.
Having said that, in the shorter term it's also possible that gun owners are being set up to be an extermination force against the "useless eaters" that are unsustainable under a socialist/communist system. Full disarmament would come after that useful step is complete. TPTB never like to get their own hands dirty and instead set up people to do the dirty work for them. Then once that dirty work is done the perpetrators of the dirty work are demonized and then disposed of. This pattern repeats throughout history.
