Just a coincidence that we are having so many do close together.

Hopefully Trump will realize that he can't do any gun control heading into the election, not even an attempt at something "small" like the bumpstock ban.

Yes, but like that pathetic Omnibus he promised not to sign but did, the "emergency" bill to help African "refugees", make Eminent Domain wonderful, signage of the USMCA, and the new idiotic Budget Deal, you will still stand proudly in line to vote for him, even if he DOES implement more gun control. Looks like this guy in Dayton was going for the number 1 spot. They say with the gun, ammo, and body armor this guy had, if he hadn't been taken out in under a minute, they believe hundreds would have been killed.
In the 250th mass shooting in recent times in America, 10 dead, including the shooter, 26 wounded / injured at Dayton Oregon.
The unidentified shooter used a .223-caliber high-capacity magazine rifle and was wearing body armour and a mask or covering over his face.
“If the Dayton police had not gotten to the shooter in under a minute, hundreds of people in the Oregon District would be dead today,” Mayor Whaley said.

Dayton shooter killed his own sister

Strange. One of the victims was his younger sister. Maybe he was motivated by some kind of family dispute?
By DAN SEWELL and JOHN MINCHILLO Associated Press

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A gunman in body armor opened fire early Sunday in a popular entertainment district in Dayton, Ohio, killing nine people, including his sister, and wounded dozens of others before he was quickly slain by police, city officials said.

Connor Betts, 24, was killed by police less than a minute after he started shooting a .223-caliber rifle in the streets of Dayton’s historic Oregon District about 1 a.m. in the second U.S. mass shooting in less than 24 hours. Police haven’t released further information about Betts or publicly discussed a motive.

His 22-year-old sister Megan, the youngest of the dead, were all killed in the same area, police said. The other men and women who were killed ranged in age from 25 to 57.

If not this term, next term, he won't have to worry about reelection. After which a democrat will be elected and the same cycle continues.

Might be just a general-purpose nutjob, no evident political motive as of yet.

Authorities have found writings linked to Dayton, Ohio, shooting suspect Connor Betts that show he had an interest in killing people, two federal law enforcement sources told CNN. A preliminary assessment of the writings, found during the execution of a search warrant, did not indicate any racial or political motive, the sources said.

His parents’ accounts are active. --- On Facebook, his mom posted pictures of pumpkins, family, Christmas ornaments, Christian religious statues and a graphic that declared “stop the alt right.” She labeled a photo of Betts and an apparent sibling, “My loves.” His dad wrote on Facebook that he was a technical lead for a technologies corporation. Betts’ father posted about net neutrality and funny parody videos. He also shared a video that criticized the rhetoric of President Donald Trump.

He was, possibly, a Satanist type, the patch on his jacket reads... Against All Gods.... and pics of him after he was shot and cuffed have just been released, read the back of his shirt.

(edit: the shirt is supposedly from a metalcore band.)

Apparently the text on his shirt is a lyric from a song by a "deathcore" band called The Acacia Strain.

EDIT: Aha, ^^^, I'm assuming it's crap and don't especially want to listen to it. Has anyone else? Any particular theme?

I'd wager that a disproportionate share of kids into death metal come from religious families.

Kids like to rebel, you know.

24 years old- working at a gas station and Chipotle. Attends a community college studying psychology. Still lives at home with his parents. Registered Democrat.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...an/1916170001/

One classmate of Connor Betts said he was bullied in high school. The classmate, Laura Wakeley, said that Betts responded by making up a list of people at the school he wanted to shoot in 2010 or 2011. "He had a plan to shoot up the high school," she told reporters near the home of Betts' parents in Bellbrook.

School officials tossed Betts out of school after making up the list but eventually let him back in, Wakeley said.

    https://heavy.com/news/2019/08/connor-betts/

On social media, the suspect’s biography started to emerge. On his Twitter page, reviewed by Heavy, he described himself as “he/him / anime fan / metalhead / leftist / i’m going to hell and i’m not coming back.”

On LinkedIn, Betts described himself as offering “extensive customer service experience” and described himself as “good under pressure. Fast learner. Eager to overachieve.” But his employment history consisted of service positions, and the warning signs might date to high school, when Betts may have written a hit list on a bathroom wall, WCPO-TV reported. Dayton police initially identified the shooter on Twitter as Conner Betts, but online and social media records give the spelling as Connor. In a press conference, police confirmed the correct spelling was Connor, not Conner.

According to Daily Beast, Betts’ sister, Megan, 22, and an unidentified male “were found shot” near the mass shooting scene. Betts arrived in the Oregon District with his sister and her “companion,” before the shooting, police said. At some point prior to the shooting they separated. Betts’ sister was not the first victim of the shooting, but was one of the initial victims. Police have not said if he was targeting his sister. Her companion was wounded, but not killed, and has talked to police, authorities said.
Scanner audio – and multiple Twitter reports – indicated the shooting was focused around Ned Peppers. The Ned Peppers’ website describes it as a “traditional western-ish themed bar located right in the heart of the Oregon District in Dayton Ohio.”
