Thumbs up Rand Paul: Omar deserves 'rebuke over trying to say we have a rotten country’

Sen. Rand Paul has joined in the criticism of Somalia-born House Rep. Ilhan Omar, and said that she deserves to be rebuked for criticizing the United States, which took her in as a refugee in 1992.

Paul, of Kentucky, said that he is “dumbfounded” by the Minnesota congresswoman’s “angry story.”

Speaking back home to Wave 3 News, Paul said, “She has this bitterness and anger toward the country,” adding, “I think she does deserve a rebuke over trying to say we have a rotten country.”

In joining President Trump in criticizing the Mogadishu-born freshman lawmaker, Paul said “I’m sort of dumbfounded how unappreciative she is of our country.”

Is Rand the best US senator or what?

What is there not to like about an angry woman criticizing, scolding, defaming, and essentially calling for your overthrow? The fact that she recently came to America and does it with a distinctive foreign accent and cadence is just icing on the cake.

Maybe we'll be fortunate and have the first non-american woman president

I agree with Rand about Omar.

So why does he support bringing in even more foreigners to tell us how horrible we are?

    666 prisoners per 100,000 (ironic).

2.12 million prisoners (highest in the world)

Millions of people murdered around the world under false pretenses.

It's not really all that controversial.

Her positions deserve particular rebuke because of her selective and hypocritical criticisms and downright economic ignorance.

And if you look at the policies of the US in Somalia, particularly with propping up the ICU and arming/funding warlords within the region and then couple that with the errant drone and attack helicopter strikes, it is no wonder why many in that area view America in an unfavorable light.

What is going on here, is liberal leaning website Snopes pushing fakenews calling a sitting Senator's claim 'false' ?

    https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/omar-rotten-country/

Did U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar Describe America as a ‘Rotten Country’?

Comments made by U.S. Sen. Rand Paul in a TV interview became weaponized on social media.

    Rating

    False

We reached out to Sen. Paul’s office for clarification on his comment, asking which statement or statements of Omar’s he was referencing, and if he was alleging that she literally called America a “rotten country” or if he was characterizing remarks she made as saying as much. Finally, we asked which of Omar’s remarks Paul believed amounted to a description of America as a “rotten country.”
A spokesperson for Paul did not provide the requested clarification but instead reiterated via email that the senator viewed Omar’s “continued criticism” as “unfair considering how much Rep. Omar has achieved”:

Can anyone find the instance or quote where Omar described this country as a "rotten country". I have looked and not seeing anything.

He never said those were her exact words:

I see, so what did she say that would give Rand that idea. Do we have it?

Just read @enhanced_deficit 's post and he doesn't have an answer

I tend to ignore her and not post all the rotten things she says but she has said many bad things about America, including claiming we are racist.

Did she say bad things about the American govt or people? Most of the criticisms I have heard from her was pointed at the govt(which is still better that 90% of the govts out there). But Rand and definitely Ron constantly criticizes the policies of the US govt and nobody think they should be rebuked for doing so. I am afraid that this is one of those instances where Rand seems to tripping over himself to appear pro Trump.

    She called all whites racist:

At that rally congresswomen Omar stated:
The thing that upsets the occupant of the White House, his goons in the Republican Party, many of our colleagues in the Democratic Party, is that they can’t stand that a refugee, a black woman, an immigrant, a Muslim, shows up in Congress thinking shes equal to them
    She went on to say:
This is not going to be the country of the xenophobics; this is not going to be the country of white people. This is not going to be the country of the few, this is the country of the many.

I'm sure I could waste my time and find lots more things she has said attacking America as a country and Americans as a people but I'm not going to.

    Trust Rand.

    Trust Rand.
I don't think any of the two above statements attributed to her is racist. In the second statement it seems like she mean't to say "this is not going to be the country of ONLY white people". That is the way I read it.

But yea, many of the criticism Rand has levied on her this rounds have been off. There is this idea that just because where you come from is bad, one should not be grateful and shut their mouth up. By that standard, I should be rebuked for saying anything negative about American outside of the weather, their fruits and foreign policy cos other that in those 3 areas, the US is 1000x better than Nigeria.

Maybe we should send Rand to Mogadishu, that would surely make him more appreciative of how good he has it in the US. I bet he would complain less about the polices in the country. Just imagine the inflation rate in Zimbabwe, he should think about Zimbabwe next time he wants to open his mouth about fed rate cuts or QE.

Considering that the US is one of the many bad actors that have made places like Somalia terrible places to live yeah send him to see the family members of the people killed by American drones.
