Sen. Rand Paul has joined in the criticism of Somalia-born House Rep. Ilhan Omar, and said that she deserves to be rebuked for criticizing the United States, which took her in as a refugee in 1992.

Paul, of Kentucky, said that he is “dumbfounded” by the Minnesota congresswoman’s “angry story.”

Speaking back home to Wave 3 News, Paul said, “She has this bitterness and anger toward the country,” adding, “I think she does deserve a rebuke over trying to say we have a rotten country.”

In joining President Trump in criticizing the Mogadishu-born freshman lawmaker, Paul said “I’m sort of dumbfounded how unappreciative she is of our country.”

Paul’s office for clarification on his comment, asking which statement or statements of Omar’s he was referencing, and if he was alleging that she literally called America a “rotten country” or if he was characterizing remarks she made as saying as much. Finally, we asked which of Omar’s remarks Paul believed amounted to a description of America as a “rotten country.”
A spokesperson for Paul did not provide the requested clarification but instead reiterated via email that the senator viewed Omar’s “continued criticism” as “unfair considering how much Rep. Omar has achieved”:

I tend to ignore her and not post all the rotten things she says but she has said many bad things about America, including claiming we are racist.

Maybe we should send Rand to Mogadishu, that would surely make him more appreciative of how good he has it in the US. I bet he would complain less about the polices in the country. Just imagine the inflation rate in Zimbabwe, he should think about Zimbabwe next time he wants to open his mouth about fed rate cuts or QE.

If both politicians would visit Somalia for a month without any security, both would come back with a greater appreciation of the US govt and maybe just maybe, they would complain a lot less after their visit.

True, but there is no limit to how much one can appreciate this country. I still see him criticizing the US govt which means there is room for improvement.
