    LIVE: Social Media Summit

This is the White House Youtube feed of the "Social Media Summit". I rarely have had a problem with live national Youtube videos cutting out. Yet this feed is cutting out about once a minute with "an error occurred". I have my doubts that this is coincidence considering the event. My connection is solid and pings to Youtube are solid. Coinicidently Twitter also went down today during the event.

If this is to be a discussion about social media why were no social media people invited?

Trump hates Facebook enough to spend $5 million on ads this year. Booked ads on YouTube too. He announced and pushed the speech on Twitter (his favorite social media) but didn't invite anybody from Twitter to the "social media summit". Mostly a bitch session about alleged bias- a publicity stunt. Is it Festivus already?

Who has been invited to the White House’s social media summit?

An array of online Trump supporters/trolls, including, per my colleague Emily Stewart: “Ali Alexander, a Republican operative who tweeted that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) is not an ‘American Black’ after the first round of Democratic debates, which sparked a racist birther-like campaign, is expected to attend. (The president’s son Donald Trump Jr. quote-tweeted and later deleted that post.) According to Media Matters for America, also expected to attend are right-wing figure Bill Mitchell, pro-Trump meme creator Carpe Donktum, and Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe.”

    Who not there?

Anyone from Facebook, Twitter, or Google’s YouTube — the world’s dominant social platforms. A Facebook rep says the company wasn’t invited; reps for Google and Twitter declined to say anything.

There was breaking news out of the summit. Arnold Schwarzenegger is dead.

Arnold Schwarzeneggar Claps Back At Donald Trump’s Weird Claim That ‘He Died’

On Thursday, Donald Trump held what was billed as a “social media summit” that, bizarrely enough, didn’t invite representatives from tech giants such as Google, Facebook and Twitter.

During his freewheeling rant, the 73-year-old U.S. president aired an array of grievances, including his complaints that his tweets no longer gain the kind of “traction” they used to, alleging social media platforms have a liberal bias and are censoring conservative voices.

At one point, Trump circled around to Arnold Schwarzenegger, who took over as host of “The Celebrity Apprentice” after Trump launched his presidential bid.

“Arnold Schwarzenegger … You know what? He died,” Trump told the audience, apparently referring NBC cancelling the show after the “Terminator” star’s single season. “I was there.
    Maria must be very sad.

Wow, you can tell the establishment really hates this topic.

First we have social media networks going down during the event, then we have the forum establishmentcons chiming in immediately dissing the event.

Banned people banned from the summit designed to complain about bias media keeping certain people out. White House apparently trying to distance themselves from the extremists. They are welcomed to support him but he won't support them. Alex Jones people not happy. During the 2016 campaign, Trump would sometimes quote thing that InfoWars talked about. Now he is dissing them. "What have you done for me lately?"

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/trumps...r-right-allies

Notably, the group so far doesn’t appear to include anyone who has actually been banned from major social platforms, even though those bans have played a significant role in driving accusations on the right that the social giants are biased. Pro-Trump figures like anti-Muslim activist Laura Loomer, InfoWars conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, and Proud Boys men’s group founder Gavin McInnes, for example, don’t appear to have been invited.

That fact hasn’t been lost on fringe Trump supporters. In a livestream from Washington, D.C., InfoWars reporter and Jones lieutenant Owen Shroyer raged that no one from InfoWars was invited to the event, while people who hadn’t been banned were.

Shroyer declared that the event was an “abortion of truth” and compared the invitees to dogs getting a bone and a pat on the head.

The people that are actually getting censored get ignored,” Shroyer said. “Isn’t that funny?”

Jones protégé Paul Joseph Watson weighed in on the summit too, asking why no figures who have faced total social media bans were invited.

“Have any of the people who got invited to the social media summit actually been censored by social media?” Watson tweeted.
“What benefit would it be to anyone if Laura Loomer were in the same room with the president?” a senior Trump administration official familiar with the planning told The Daily Beast. “Why on earth would we do that? We aren’t that stupid. Come on.

Loomer and other pro-Trump personalities have raged about the summit on Telegram, a Russian messaging app she and other banned personalities have resorted to using after being kicked off Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

“It’s just absolutely disgusting how poorly this summit was planned and how blatant the act was to keep banned individuals out,” Loomer wrote in a Telegram post. “I cannot believe that every single banned person was out of the summit.”
More on non- invitees and their outrage at the link.

Trump also praised some of the attendees, who have supported his presidency on social media.

"Some of you are extraordinary. Can’t say everybody. No, but some of you are extraordinary," Trump said. "The crap you think of is unbelievable."

The same thing happened during the democrat party debates. The livestream goes out with an error and when you try to reload, it forces you to watch a commercial before cutting off again after about 5 mins. I have watched livestreams with over 80k people watching but with only 40k watching, the stream kept glitching.

My fix was to find a smaller channel streaming the event and everything was ok. Good luck with the event.

Clearly this is attempt to censor the president.

I'm pretty sure Twitter is going to try to deplatform POTUS before the upcoming election cycle.
This is what I'm hearing from contacts in the tech world. It will be subtle — features will incrementally "creep" away from following individuals, to following topics, for example.

    trump has a plan.
he wanted to higlight the censrship..... yes.

one of the attendees already pointed out quite a while ago the great backfire of the censorship.

it was quite a brilliant observation.

Breitbart helped launch the Huffington post.
