Another month, another pile of evidence that libertarians should be ostracizing conservatives, not assisting them.

    Highlights include:

    --Amash officially left the GOP

--the energetic yoots of that party held a conference denouncing libertarians

For those who appreciate the need to accelerate this long overdue divorce, what is to be done?

How can our fellow libertarians be convinced to leave (or, alternatively, conservatives be convinced to force them out)?

For maximum benefit, this needs to occur before the election and/or incoming recession.

Supreme is a wicked leftist that will squander tax dollars on ponies and tooth brushes . Oyarde will tell the public they can buy all the things they desire . I consider Cthulhu more serious competition but I will be better on all issues although we might be nearly equal on economics . My Foreign policy will be better . Immediate withdrawal from the entire Middle East day one.

And I'm sure someone on the "other side" is thinking that the best plan is fo find common ground and work with other branches of the Democrat party. Meanwhile the Republican party can tear itself apart while the "RINOs" fight with the conservatives ... (and maybe even with the libertarians - assuming anyone even notices that they're there ...)

And the thing is ... you're both right ... (and this is why it's impossible to have both a viable republic and a country of over a third of a billion people ...)

Well, then, for me, it's definitely down to a choice between Oyarde or Cthulhu in 2020!

Cthulhu hasn't exactly promised a MIddle East withdrawal as such - but he has vowed to devour the souls of everyone before feeding their fleshly bodies to hordes of ravening shoggoths. So I guess it comes to the same thing, more or less ...

I'm doing it when I go to the County Municipal Building to doff my hat and say "Thank you, sir, for your permission to buy a hand gun from an online retailer."
    From a Republican Sheriff.
Because that is what it takes in my county. Not bad enough that I have to do the whole FFL thing with the dealer once the gun comes in.
No, I had to give all kinds of info. Was I now have I ever been mental. Do drugs? You were a member of the military? Well, you'll need to bring a copy of your DD-214 when you come to pick up your purchase permit. And everything you checked off and attested to we need you to place your left hand on the Bible, raise your right, and swear too.
Nope. Absolutely and totally done with the GOP. Once the permit is issued I plan to have a talk with the sheriff. Then I'm gonna march my ass over to the other side of the building and register unaffiliated.
    Done with N.C. GOP.

and as a P.S. under N.C. law if Bob my neighbor wanted to sell the exact same handgun to me I could hand him the cash and he my gun. $#@! this dumb $#@!.

Because I want a specific hand gun. I have many others. And rifles. Some I keep at friends and families places other than mine that have no trace-ability. It's just a specific handgun I want, that I haven't been able to find through friends or local retailers or gunshows in over 8 months.
Never had to buy through online before, so, it's a great eye awakening. Once the permits in my hand I'm going to see if the Shire-Reeve is in and have a talk about his next election and "Constitutional" Shire-Reeves and where he sits with that. Well, I already know where he sits. Question is if I can shame him about Constitutional law into accepting another path. Honestly, the only people he is impeding are law-abiding individuals such as myself.
Truth is I should just pay my 5 ducats and not put myself on the radar.
But, the truth is also that I'm done with this $#@!.

Unless the statutes recently changed, NCGS 14-402(a) requires pistol purchase permits even for private sales. No handguns can be bought or sold in NC without a pistol permit issued by the sheriff. Rifles and shotguns do not require the permit. If you already have a concealed carry permit you don't need the pistol purchase permit. What county are you in Phil?

§ 14-402. Sale of certain weapons without permit forbidden.

    (a) It is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation in this State to sell, give away, or transfer, or to purchase or receive, at any place within this State from any other place within or without the State any pistol unless: (i) a license or permit is first obtained under this Article by the purchaser or receiver from the sheriff of the county in which the purchaser or receiver resides; or (ii) a valid North Carolina concealed handgun permit is held under Article 54B of this Chapter by the purchaser or receiver who must be a resident of the State at the time of the purchase.

On topic: With Rand getting so friendly with MAGA these days, I'm not sure a mass exodus from the GOP is the wise move just yet. What if Trump chose Rand to replace Pence as VP? And then something happened to Trump, making Rand potential POTUS? Wouldn't libertarian want the chance to help nominate Rand? Sounds far-fetched, sure, but just spit-ballin' here. Don't make hasty, rash moves in such weird and fluid times....

"We have set them on the hobby-horse of an idea about the absorption of individuality by the symbolic unit of COLLECTIVISM. They have never yet and they never will have the sense to reflect that this hobby-horse is a manifest violation of the most important law of nature, which has established from the very creation of the world one unit unlike another and precisely for the purpose of instituting individuality."- A Quote From Some Old Book

Yeah, guess the law changed at some point. Use to be you could buy, sell or trade as individual to individual without doffing your hat. Well, it looks like I'm going to do a CCW course sometime in the fall so I don't have to go through this process again. As a bonus I guess that I'll legally be carrying concealed after that.

One must do what they have to do to avoid whatever trouble they may encounter. But to be clear, once you go through all of that, you will technically be Illegal.

The problem with Libertarians is that they focus on fringe issues that are only relevant to a few people. Focus on the major issues and build support from there.
