    Then this could be good?

I just watched an episode where under heavy federal regulation testing with rats is pretty much mandated but most of the drugs produced by that method are unsafe for humans.

I must set aside some time to look into this more, keeping in mind I do not like some of what is being proposed.

Don't worry, the trumpettes and shylls will be along soon enough to tell everyone how great it is that their Authoritarian Idol is "cutting regulations".

Shouldn't the Free Market force labeling and decide? In the case of Monsanto there is a class-action lawsuit which I agree there should be. I am wondering how deep Monsanto was in bed with government and how much was really hidden.

Hmm. Like I said this is one that I really need to look into. Meantime if you are able to muster something up, I am more than eager to follow up with it, at the moment my time is very limited.

I'm pretty sure Trump campaigned on getting rid of ISIS, which was a US funded organization that was terrorizing most of the Middle East, but not getting into any more wars with other countries. He also wanted to move toward getting out of the wars we were in as soon as the ISIS threat our country created for them was defeated. He also did not intend to engage in overthrowing the leadership of other countries.

So far that is what he has done. Exactly what he campaigned on. Your simplistic rhetoric doesn't help anybody to understand the nuanced foreign policy and how it is a million times better than what we would have gotten from any of the other candidates with the exception of Rand.

However, we now know that Donald Trump’s administration puts all previous presidents to shame. The Pentagon’s numbers show that during George W. Bush’s eight years he averaged 24 bombs dropped per day, which is 8,750 per year. Over the course of Obama’s time in office, his military dropped 34 bombs per day, 12,500 per year. And in Trump’s first year in office, he averaged 121 bombs dropped per day, for an annual total of 44,096.

Trump’s military dropped 44,000 bombs in his first year in office.

Deregulate. Makes it easier to get GMOs approved. Real goal though is to appeal to Iowa corn farmers to hopefully get them to vote for him in 2020. He was in Iowa at an ethanol plant.

Trump Orders Federal Agencies to Ease Approval of New GMO Crops

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday directing federal agencies to ease rules for approving genetically modified crops and other agricultural biotechnology.

The order instructs the U.S. Agriculture Department, the Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency -- all of which have jurisdiction over genetically engineered agricultural products -- to review their biotechnology regulations to streamline approval processes, according to a White House fact sheet.

Trump signed the order Tuesday during a stop at an ethanol plant in politically important Iowa. The order is intended to speed approval of new agricultural biotechnology, reduce developers’ costs and encourage more investment in GMO crops, the White House said in a fact sheet.

The move was cheered by industry representatives, who said prudent regulations can help foster biology-driven innovations that can improve nutrition, reduce food waste and bolster crop yields.

Jim Greenwood, president of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, said the group “applauds the Trump administration for taking this important step forward to ensure government policy does not hinder 21st-century biotechnology from addressing the many global challenges — from a looming food crisis to climate change -- that are facing society today.”

The Agriculture Department last week proposed a broad overhaul of biotech rules that would exempt from regulation genetically edited farm products with traits “similar in kind” to modifications that could be produced through traditional breeding techniques.

Wheat plants genetically engineered to resist the Monsanto herbicide Roundup were recently detected in an unplanted field in Washington State, although there’s no evidence that the grain has entered the food supply, the Agriculture Department announced on Friday. The USDA didn’t say when or more precisely where the wheat was discovered. Genetically modified wheat hasn’t been approved for sale in the U.S.

Asian and European buyers have in the past halted purchases from entire regions when modified strains of unapproved wheat were discovered.

    This is a better explanation:

New Tests Confirm Children’s Foods Made from Oats are ALL Contaminated with Cancer-Causing Glyphosate

Why Don’t Governments Just Ban Glyphosate?

Governments, for the most part, are powerless to change this by simply banning glyphosate. Since it is the active ingredient in the world’s most widely-used herbicide, and since the majority of the crops harvested in America are dependent upon this herbicide, especially GMO crops, banning it would cause a world-wide catastrophe, both by decimating our economy, as well as causing massive food shortages.

The only way to ban glyphosate is to replace it with something else that would allow the current agricultural system to continue, and there is no guarantee that whatever replaces glyphosate will be any safer.

Since Monsanto has now been exposed through the U.S. legal system to concealing earlier data that showed glyphosate was toxic, it seems like only a matter of time before something replaces it.

This might have been the motive for President Trump’s Executive Order (EO) issued earlier this week (June, 2019):

Executive Order on Modernizing the Regulatory Framework for Agricultural Biotechnology Products

This EO was apparently issued to remove regulatory “red tape” to get Big Ag products to market sooner. It is a “double-edged” sword to the American consumer, because if something less toxic than glyphosate can be developed and brought to the market sooner, than the quicker America can eliminate its dependency on glyphosate.

If, however, herbicides, pesticides, and GMO crops are rushed to market too soon before fully testing them for toxicity, we could have even a worse problem with the contamination of America’s food supply, if that is even possible.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

Trump signs executive order on E15 at ethanol plant in Council Bluffs
    By 6 News | Posted: Tue 2:34 PM, Jun 11, 2019 | Updated: Tue 7:54 PM, Jun 11, 2019

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) -- En route to a GOP event in Des Moines, President Trump paid a visit to an ethanol plant in Council Bluffs to sign an executive order making changes to the E15 rule.

"As a candidate for president, I pledged to protect the ethanol industry and fight for farmers," Trump told the crowd gathered at Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy ethanol plant or SIRE, which produces about 110 million gallons of ethanol each year.

Ahead of this speech, which started about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, the president took a quick closer look at the plant. A more thorough tour, had previously been on the president's itinerary, but Air Force One arrived later than scheduled.

Until just days ago, the EPA banned the sale of E15 in the summer because of concerns that it leads to smog. But Trump’s administration says E15’s impact on air quality is similar to E10.

The biofuel, made from 15 percent ethanol, is still not very common at U.S. gas stations, but corn farmers are hoping the rule change will increase its use and also help farmers suffering from the U.S. trade war with China.

Trump also talked about the trade relationships with Canada and Mexico as well as the tariffs. The president has said he’s helped farmers significantly, but some say he’s actually cost the industry billions.

The president invited a few farmers from the area up to the podium to talk about how the year-round availability of E15 will impact them.

After his final remarks, Trump signed documents putting the new E15 rules into effect. The president then headed to Des Moines to attend a political fundraiser in the state's capital.

Air Force One landed at Offutt Air Force Base about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday as the president stopped en route to a GOP dinner in Des Moines.

White House sources said Trump, Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer and Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst were aboard the plane from Washington, D.C. this afternoon; Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, and Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert joined him after his arrival to disembark.

Trump is not the only 2020 presidential candidate in Iowa today. Former Vice President Joe Biden will deliver a speech calling Trump an “existential threat.” This morning, Trump said Biden is the “weakest mentally” of all the 2020 candidates and referred to Biden as a “dummy.”

It’s been about eight months since Trump was last in the Heartland. In October, he held a rally at Mid-America Center also touting ethanol and to show support for area Republicans ahead of the November midterm election.

On one hand, he encourages ethanol (when talking in Iowa), on the other hand, he grants exemptions to stop using it. (ethanol is a terrible way to produce fuel- it uses almost as much energy as it produces in most cases). His E15 gasoline year- around thing is voluntary.

    https://www.thegazette.com/subject/o...ivers-20190611

    Trump celebrates empty E15 Rule

“They stabbed us in the back,” said a board member of a local ethanol plant when telling me what President Donald Trump and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were doing to Iowa biofuels. He had watched as then-Secretary Scott Pruitt received a standing ovation at a Renewable Energy event in Iowa. Two weeks later, Pruitt began giving secret waivers to oil and gas companies. Favors that would allow Fortune 500 companies to avoid blending renewable biofuels into our nation’s auto fuel supply under waivers called “small refinery exemptions.”

These handouts to the oil industry have diverted two and a half billion gallons of gasoline from the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) blending requirements. That’s more than two hundred million cars without access to a cleaner, more affordable fuel grown and produced in our backyard. The waivers are meant for small oil refineries experiencing undue economic hardship — instead they’re going to billion-dollar companies like Exxon and Chevron.

Trump’s secret waivers come at a huge expense for Iowans at a time when we’re facing hardships. Multiple years of low commodity prices, market consolidation, floods that halted rail shipments and left farmers dealing with wet grain, and unstable trade agreements that have major long-term consequences. These waivers add extreme pain in rural America and Trump’s EPA doesn’t plan on slowing down. Not a single waiver request has been denied and there’s no transparency to account for the unprecedented and reckless giveaways to oil and gas companies. The Trump administration recently approved sale of E15 all year-round — but does that mean in the face of these waivers? Not much when 40 waivers are sitting with EPA, waiting to see if they’ll be given the same favor as Exxon and Chevron.

Just five of Trump’s waivers drove down corn demand by 900 million bushels, costing farmers up to 40 cents a bushel. This abuse is threatening good jobs and biomanufacturing. That’s a massive trade-off to help oil companies, some of whom rake in $20 billion in profits each year. In comparison, 2018 was the first time in 20 years that U.S. ethanol use fell, and farm income is declining for yet another year. This bleak record is not what Trump promised to Iowa voters.

No honest person can answer where ethanol will be in 20 years. Which is why we need to fight for it today. Oil and gas companies have had the upper hand in energy markets for a century. They get billions in government subsidies and make tens of billions in profits each year. Clearly, they have the means to put the squeeze on elected officials.

So, with billions on top of billions, why are oil and gas companies lining up to demand Trump waivers? Because renewable ethanol is a promising option for a greener future and for cars and jets. The Navy knows this, that’s why they’ve participated in programs that invest in renewable energy for military operations. Consumers know it, ethanol saves us approximately a dollar per gallon when oil spikes overseas.

Rural communities need investments. But Trump treats economic drivers in our communities like an afterthought. Trump promised Iowans the farm and the kitchen sink, but his policies on trade, antitrust, family farms and biofuels are hurting farmers and our economy.

    Very deep.....

Almost half of America’s cropland is devoted to GMO crops, including over 140 million acres of GE corn, soybeans, and cotton. Seventy to 80 percent of supermarket, restaurant and school cafeteria processed foods are contaminated with genetically engineered corn, soy, canola, high fructose corn syrup and cotton seed/vegetable oil.3

Meanwhile, 90 percent of our meat and animal products are coming out of factory farms, where livestock are stuffed with GMO animal feed (corn and soy), and recklessly dosed with Big Pharma animal drugs and growth promoters.

And, of course, it is not just the genetic engineering, foreign DNA, antibiotic marker genes and viral promoters in these everyday (nonorganic) Frankenfoods and crops that we need to worry about.

We also have to contend with the fact that these gene foods and animal feeds have been doused with poisonous pesticides, insecticides and fungicides. After 30 years of force feeding the public a vast array of untested, unlabeled GMOs and low-grade, nutritionally deficient “commodity” foods and crops laced with pesticides like Roundup, dicamba, 2,4-D, chlorpyrifos, atrazine, malathion, neonicotinoids and Bt, it is no wonder that public health is steadily degenerating.

The impact on the environment of GMOs, chemical-intensive industrial agriculture and factory farms is equally devastating. They are responsible for water pollution, aquatic dead zones, aquifer depletion, degradation of the soil’s ability to absorb and hold water, air pollution, destruction of grasslands and wetlands, loss of biodiversity, killing off wildlife, insects and pollinators, and causing soil erosion and massive climate-disrupting emissions of CO2, methane and nitrous oxide.

    Flashback:

    Issued on: October 11, 2018

President Donald J. Trump Is Expanding Waivers for E15 and Increasing Transparency in the RIN Market

We want to eliminate the intrusive rules that undermine your ability to earn a living, and we will protect the corn-based ethanol and biofuels that power our country.

    President Donald J. Trump

EXPANDING WAIVERS FOR E15: The Trump Administration is initiating rulemaking to expand fuel waivers for E15, or gasoline containing 15 percent ethanol.

President Donald J. Trump is directing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to initiate a rulemaking to consider expanding Reid Vapor Pressure waivers for fuel blends containing gasoline and up to 15 percent ethanol.

Under the proposed expansion, E15 would be allowed to be sold year round rather than just eight months of the year.

President Trump continues to uphold his commitment to ethanol and the Renewable Fuel Standard program to give consumers more choice.

The proposed expansion will strengthen America’s domestic energy production and provide a boost to America’s famers.

INCREASING TRANSPARENCY IN THE RIN MARKET: In the same rulemaking, the Trump Administration will increase transparency in the Renewable Identification Number (RIN) market.

In the same rulemaking, President Trump is directing the EPA to consider reforms to increase transparency and prevent price manipulation in the RIN market.

These potential reforms to be considered include:

Prohibiting entities other than obligated parties from purchasing separated RINs.

Requiring public disclosure when RIN holdings held by an individual actor exceed specified limits.

Limiting the length of time a non-obligated party can hold RINs.

Requiring the retirement of RINs for the purpose of compliance be made in real time.

President Trump and his Administration held meetings with various stakeholders, including Members of Congress and State leaders, to hear a range of views while evaluating this decision.

These proposals will go through the formal notice and public comment process.

Corn ethanol is a net energy LOSS...when everything in the production stream is factored in, it takes more energy to produce than what it creates as a liquid motor fuel.

Not only that, but it absolutely destroys small engines, fuel tanks and piping.

    Ridiculous pandering on Trump's part.

Get serious and roll back the "bins and tiers" on diesel engines and fuels, so we could have 100+ mpg cars that are comfortable, affordable and well equipped.

Or some of the ridiculous safety fatwas, so you could build a an $8,000 car for the people.

No regulations will ever be cut by trump that actually benefit the people. You know, I've always wanted to build a pipeline through indian land! And now I can even brew up GMO whatever in my basement and easily sell the stuff, I've always wanted to do that as well! Aren't these the increases in freedom that everyone wants?
