SCOTUS Issues Stay In Redistricting Cases

    https://www.wxyz.com/news/supreme-co...gislative-maps

The Supreme Court of the United States has issued a stay on a federal panel ruling that found Michigan's congressional and legislative maps were unconstitutionally gerrymandered for partisan gain.

In an order issued on Friday, SCOTUS said the application presented to Justice Sonia Sotomayor and referred to the court is granted, meaning the ruling is "stayed pending the timely filing and disposition of an appeal in this Court or further order of this Court."

SCOTUS also temporarily blocked gerrymandering a gerrymandering lawsuit in Ohio. The court is expected to rule in the coming weeks on gerrymandering cases in Maryland and North Carolina.
If you haven't been watching, this is about the Democrats protesting the 2010 GOP redistricting in at least 4 states. Ignoring Illinois, of course. They've already heard the cases in Maryland and North Carolina. It's just a guess but hopefully this means they're going to rule against the Democrats.

Thank you DJTvsg for Gorsuch and Kavanaugh instead of Garland and Kennedy!

Hopefully the jack booted thug Trumpkins will fail in their efforts to Gerrymander, Justin Amash out of his house seat. A pox upon Swampy Kavanaugh.

SCOTUS is going to protect Michigan's current map and protect Amash for at least one more election, if the maps are redrawn you can be sure he will be undermined for the 2020 election.

But I know you aren't smart enough to see that.

    Gerrymandering a gerrymander?

SCOTUS also temporarily blocked gerrymandering a gerrymandering lawsuit in Ohio.

Amash also won under the old lines. Without the redistricting, the GOP will likely Sanfordize the seat if he loses the primary. Meaning they'll win it hand it to a Democrat in the general, which is what they wanted to do in the first place when they did the redistricting. The GOP would rather have a Democrat in office than a small government conservative.

Let’s just remember that 2020 is also a Census year. There will definitely be redistributing in several states because they will be losing seats.

The sooner they are allowed/forced to redraw the lines the sooner they will try to get rid of him, SCOTUS protecting the current map is good for him.

Michigan passed ballot #2 the last go around, to redo the congressional maps. Does it matter what a court case says when the voters have already voted to have it redone?
