Federal judge rules Trump cannot block subpoena for financial records

Trump had attempted to challenge the subpoena.

A federal district judge has told the accounting firm Mazars it will need to turn over Donald Trump’s accounting records from before he was President to the Democratic-control House Oversight Committee.

I’m not opposed to it. But I’m not a trump lover either. To me he’s a rich guy who craves power. He tweets like a pimply 14 year old and I haven’t seen any wars ended yet.

What's the Official 36D Chess explanation for this behavior? Trump's just acting like a Spoiled Member of The Protected Class to get this ruling on the books?

It's a baseless violation of his right to be secure from unreasonable search and seizure.

    So naturally you endorse it.

    Unreasonable search and seizure?

That's your description of what is happening to documents which he sent to the government? Which were, in fact, prepared for the specific purpose of sending to the federal government?

Do you even read the stories you comment on?

In a 41-page opinion, Judge Amit Mehta, an Obama appointee, found that the panel, under the leadership of Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), had valid reasons for requesting the president’s financial records from the accounting firm Mazars

Some may be but Congress must not have a right to see them or they could just get them from the IRS.

You mean the Internal Revenue Service, an Executive Branch Agency? No. Not all documentation backing up the figures on a business tax return get submitted with it; some only get kept in case of audit. Nice try at obfuscation, though.

    Yeah, sure you wouldn't.

And as for me, I never once called for Trump to release these records. And unlike you, with your RWTDS, I don't differentiate between swamp creatures like Trump and Clinton. So how would anything of the sort make someone like me? Or is it that you can't debate, and that's the best baseless attack you can come up with?

Whew. A new issue to wear out. Gonna be a whole field full of dead horses who took quite a beating while he was in office.

I'm looking forward to it. Racism wore out. Russia collusion wore out. Let's start on tax returns 'til we wear that one out.

Trump should subpoena tax returns from all judges, and elected Senators, and Congress Representatives.

Then you admit that we are talking about documents that the government doesn't have a right to without satisfying the Constitutional search and seizure requirements?

You do know that the filing requirements for the Income tax are a violation of the 4th and 5th Amendments, right?

My personal take is this: if they are public government workers which I am paying for, and I am forced to pay taxes, forced to pay for things I do not want or need, I feel I have a right to know everything about them. Where is my money going, what lobbyists are funding them that affect MY pocket, etc. Along with a full audit of the gov/Fed.

This is rich. They want to basically audit the man again for 8 years the IRS already audited.

I think we would all like that. But fortunately the Constitution says different.

The progressive neo-cons haven't gotten the message. This is the type of $#@! that will lead to a 2020 victory. Formerly apathetic individuals have found a cure in the the total assault on the sitting POTUS. He hasn't lost his base. And he picks up more every single day this $#@! continues. Not a single individual I know gives a $#@! about his IRS accounting. Only Dems, and they aren't going to vote for him anyway.
